#929549 New Guild Rankings Idea

Posted by leinad01 on 22 April 2015 - 18:50

Hi,

Was just thinking of an idea that could have potenial to be useful in regards to guild rankings.

In the "Top Rated" tab you have an overall and "your month" section for highest levels.

For guilds, obviously FFS is the highest level guild, and as some people have noticed MoM have been catching up recently, but new guilds will always be very low down and will never reach anywhere near the top for years to come.

I was thinking it would be quite good too see a section which reset each month for guilds that showed the experienced gained that month/TKP for the month/etc.

This would allow people to see how each guild is growing and which guild is growing fastest, and add a more competitive nature to guilds across all levels.

It could also make guild titan hunting more competitive. For example if someone decided they wanted to start a guild, exclusively for titan hunting, they may end up being the best titan hunting guild as they might recieve the most TPK in every titan they hunt, however they wouldnt get even close to the top 50 in the rankings for a good few years. However if there was a section that showed how many TKP had been collected each month they would be able to see that this new guild is currently doing the best in Titan hunting.

Hope that this has been at least interesting. Would love to hear others thoughts on the idea if youve got any.

Could we get a description of the potion only buffs? its been a long time since new buff ideas were discussed and a refresher before they are released would be awesome, = )

139_sm.gifWarcry +0.1% per point increase in group member stats while active (excludes the group leader).

Thoughts: Could be fun for relic capturing, perhaps relic defending if potion duration lasted 2-3 hours.

132_sm.gifTrendy +0.01% per skill level added to your attack, defence, armor, HP and damage for each piece of equipped gear that is common.

Thoughts: Buff is probably not going to be used, unless increased to 0.1 or 0.2% per point.

143_sm.gifPerfection 0.01% chance per point of a craftable item being crafted perfect when invented.

Thoughts: I've wanted this buff for a long time, but 0.03-0.05% per point would be more realistic.

144_sm.gifDeft Hands 0.1% chance per point of doubling the effects of the Thievery enhancement. Master Thief is not affected by this skill.

Thoughts: Pvpers are going to love this but how often does Thievery actually kick in?

140_sm.gifImmobilise Titan +0.1% per point chance for titan not to move when defeated in combat

Thoughts: Completely NOT needed with Titan Doubler in effect. Also, Teleport should NOT work on titan maps ... I would change Immoblilise Titan to Titan Slayer with 0.05% per point reduction to all titan stats instead.

maybe its to stop script users / people from mashing the WSAD to get advantage?

I was not mashing anything, I was just holding the (example) 'D' until the char reached a wall, so pressing 'W' to move up, or something like this.

Pressing 'walk, walk, walk' every move is possible, but takes too long, I'm not a robot, I can't press the key on every x miliseconds, should be a fix for this.

If they told us beforehand what the "bonus" number was o receive the extra chest, you may as well set the minimum requirements to that same number, furthermore if they told us it wouldn't be a bonus...

That would be fine, in the past it has essentially been like a 6th tier, so make it official.  It would still be one more chest than the Ruby, so it would still be a bonus.

My personal feeling is that the "bonus" should have been awarded to those who say were in the positions of 101st to 150th in the top contributors as they were so close to the top 100 but just missed out for whatever reason. Or, make the qualifying level for the "bonus" something like 150,000 kills and not so close to the minimum requirement.

Again, this would be fine as well.  That is, rather than making it a specific kill count, make it and extra chest for those that didn't quite make the top 100, but let people know at the start of the event.  Or even state at the beginning of the event that there will be a minimum cut off for an extra chest but don't reveal what that number is if you want people to burn extra stamina.  But have it all upfront, or reward everyone equally.

Hey ho, I am happy I got to the "promised land of the top 100, just!

Congratulations!

Or, folk could just see it as a nice gesture from BG because we slaughtered the total requirement for this Global Event.

It was indeed a very nice gesture from BG, but it was administered unevenly.  In the past it has always been given across the board.  If you're going to change from a precedent then people should be told.

Bottom line, some you win, some you lose..

Remember the fubar where Forn refilled everyones stamina ? - some players got 100K+ free stamina from that, others got little to nothing. Some won, some lost.

Are you really equating an accident which would have required reverting back to the last backup of the game, and lost everyone hours of SE hunting, titan hunting, leveling, etc. to an intentional act that they have full records of doing?  I was almost at full stamina that time, and so gained very little from the glitch, but I recognized it as such.

The reward chests from this GE are the best they have ever been - 5K kills (or, if you prefer, 1K bunnies) got you 3 chests that would, if bought in the AH, cost at least 200 fsp each.

Which is how the event was rolled out, but then a select group of individuals got another 200 FSP reward for 10k kills (or, if you prefer, 2K bunnies) that no one could possibly have known about until after the fact, and it is this selective advantage that some got but not other that is what people are upset about. If BG had arbitrarily decided that anyone with an ingame name starting with the first half of the alphabet got an extra reward, would you be equally okay with it?

Stop complaining folks ....

Index: (Added as progresses)

Characters:

Ven - One of two former village boys Ven is the younger of the two travelers but also the more bolder of the two, preferring to take blunt head on action.

Zerav - Zerav is the older of the two travelers who is also a former village boy who prefers to take a more strategic approach to combat over Ven's brawn over brains type combat.

-Intro

We've been wandering around for a couple days now. We used to be two village boys in the Mountain Path but that changed after a while. We used to just be some of the natives that wandered around like everyone else, then they all started to go crazy. Well, all of them that is, except for us. Our village was tucked away in a southern corner of the Mountain Path and whatever made everyone else go crazy seemed to have left us alone. A couple of the village elders even thought it had something to do with the Cathedral of Ways.

Whatever it was, none of that matters anymore. Although maybe the elders were right, maybe it really was because of the Cathedral of Ways. The crazed natives seemed to want to kill anyone and anything associated with the Cathedral. A week or so after it all started happening, the Cathedral came under attack by a horde of Demons and other crazy freaks. One of them looked like a man dressed in full black battle armor and he was carrying a battle mace. There was a lot of people outside of the Cathedral trying to throw them back, but it seemed like nothing could turn the tide for either side.

Nothing could turn the tide that is, until our village decided to step into the fight. Now, we may not be as strong as the rest of the world, but we have our own little sort of magics and weapons that we can use when needed. Apparently the demons and corrupted natives attacking the Cathedral thought there was nobody else here to help them, when most of the fighters from our village went charging in with our weapons and magic, the demon hordes cheered and those of us remaining could hear them all the way from the village.

That cheering was short lived, Ven and I watched as our village's fighters, both of our fathers and my mother included in them, crashed into the demon hordes and break their morale so quickly that some of them even started running back. That somewhat human figure clad in black iron wouldn't stand for it though, any demon, native, or otherwise that tried to flee back took a face full of his mace. They seemed to have two choices, stand and fight to the death, or run back and die under that stranger's black iron mace, and who knows what kind of fate awaited them after dying to that thing?

Something was stirring in the distance behind the strange man, and I could just barely make out some kind of strange flying creatures coming into the fight. Now I may not be exactly sure what they were, but the one in the lead looked like some kind of necrotic rotting dragon, and back then I shuddered at the thought of how something like that could have even been created. The dragon started breathing green fire all over the place, our mystics were able to stop the brunt of his fire from hitting our fighters, but many of the Cathedral's defenders weren't so lucky. They seemed to have priests of some kind trying to stem the demons and fire coming down but there just was not enough of them to really stop it all. A lot of the Cathedral's defenders started getting caught up in the remains of the dragon's fire, and it seemed to latch onto them, almost melting them before our eyes.

Even back then when we were younger, none of this seemed to faze us. We watched on with grim satisfaction, counting every inch of ground that our fighters gained in conjunction with the ones from the Cathedral, and we were barely able to start pushing back the tide of demons.

Suddenly out of nowhere, a few of the demons broke off and started running to our village, and it was undefended. The women and children started running around in a panic, but me and Ven just stayed at the entrance, watching them as they approached.

"Zerav, you ready to go club yourself some freaks?"

I looked at Ven and chuckled, "Ven slow down, we should think about this before we go charging in we have no idea what these things can do."

"Suit yourself Zerav, do your death magic or whatever it is you call that stuff but I'm not going to let them get one more foot without a fight."

I sighed and watched Ven start charging, club at the ready. Now the *death magic* as he had called it would probably be more along the lines of a form of Necromancy. See, my mother is an elder when it comes to our funeral rights, and she is able to summon the dead to defend our village in times of need and has even taught me how to do some of it.

I started my chanting and went into a momentary trance, when my mother taught me I pretty much just had to watch her, because whatever it is we use to summon the dead takes us over while we do it, and we never know how we do it but we just know that we can do it. When I opened my eyes Ven had a couple hundred skeletons fighting with him and the few demons that came charging at us were quickly overwhelmed. He looked back at me and grinned, but I was almost completely exhausted. He must have realized that and came back to help me, I just waved him away.

"I'm not inept Ven, I can walk on my own."

"Whatever you say Zerav, but even I can tell that summoning like three hundred freaking skeletons would take a lot out of you, heck I'm surprised you didn't die doing it!"

"Whatever, but come on, we should go help the Cathedral and I don't know how long these skeletons will stay moving."

"Yeah, yeah, we probably should but what about the village? Do you think they might come back and try again?"

"Hmm... you know you might be right, here let me try something real quick."

I closed my eyes again and my chanting started, this time it was much quicker than what it had been before. I opened my eyes after maybe three or four seconds, and there was a dozen skeletal archers standing guard outside of the village, ready to take on anything that came this way. I nodded to Ven and we started off on our way to the Cathedral.

When we started getting nearer to the raging fight we saw just how weak the Cathedral's defenders were getting, we barely had a dent in our fighters but the demons seemed more intent on destroying the Cathedral of Ways itself than bothering with the natives cutting into their flank. Before we even reached the fight however, a sudden tide of warriors started pouring out of the entrance to the Cathedral. I'm not sure where they came from or how, but they were all wearing different kinds of armor, looking like they were coming from all over the world. They even looked to be stronger than the people defending the Cathedral, they looked like simple priests and knights in steel armor, definitely not like the people that were now coming out to aid them.

We were getting a lot  closer to the fight now, the front line of skeleton warriors was maybe 30 feet from our own fighters. I noticed a weaker part in the demons forces that was on the very edge of our own people and ordered the entire legion of skeletons I had to attack that spot, and Ven's bold spirit decided to lead the charge and I couldn't do anything other than hope  he wouldn't get himself killed.

When the skeletons started crashing into the demons and other natives, I saw the black iron clad figure from before once again. He was in the rear of the army on top of a small hill and he seemed like he was chanting something. I watched as something seemed to grow larger behind him, like some kind of giant shadow, and then a ball of black fire shot its way at the Cathedral. The building burst into flames and stared to crumble all around it, most of the human defenders that weren't in an immediate fight for their lives stopped moving and gawked at the ruined building. I turned my attention back to the stranger and he was still standing atop the hill, laughing as he turned back around and left, leaving his legion of demons and natives to try and defeat the rest of the defenders.

#925012 Community's thought on another potion composing slot?

Posted by Melissa3 on 26 March 2015 - 19:28

After rethinking it I guess the more composing spots available to everyone is a win / win as stated by steveanaya above.  More demand for frags, higher gold sink , and it will make it easier for people to get thru composing so they can get some of the amazingly awesome buffs composing can give us.

But as i stated above the additional composing spot given every 10 composing levels should not stop at level 40.

#924833 Community's thought on another potion composing slot?

Posted by JustChris on 25 March 2015 - 23:47

I've been toying with the idea a bit about posting in regards to adding an additional composing slot beginning at level 1.

Before you jump to your first gut reaction, let me briefly explain.

The point, at it's core, of composing is a gold/useless item sink, which it does expertly. Additionally, it gives players of all level and skill another aspect of the game to look forward to and enjoy. It also builds guild loyalty and provides members with even greater purpose.

Forget the few that travel guild to guild, and overlook the powerfulness of the buffs themselves (they can be tuned down if need be), without the few exceptions, composing is a great aspect of Fallen Sword.

Adding another slot could increase leveling of all players, if they want it to. Players that want to level up "twice as quickly" from level 1 to 10 would also have to buy frags at a more quick rate and would also have to spend gold to create potions twice as quickly as the current standard.

I've read all across the forums about people being upset with too many frags and killing the frag market, but with a second slot for composing, frags would diminish twice as quickly, the price of frags would increase, and players would have greater reason to stay in the game, and potentially Global Events would be more heavily participated in.

It is unlikely that many players will hit "EOC" in regards to composing level any time in their FS career, so the concern that this would make leveling too easy is irrelevant. Especially because if players are reaching the max level for composing, that means they have spent a tremendous (anyone with the exact amount?) amount of gold to get there, extensive lengths of time, and are most likely very devoted and happy with their FS character!

This would just be another means to further boost an excellent aspect of the game, and further improve the benefits that it produces.

#923191 How do you feel about composed potions?

Posted by Pythia on 11 March 2015 - 19:08

I gather my own frags, compose my own potions and sometimes I send some frags to Yot along with some gold. I see we are not yet to the second tier in the event. I qualified the first day and have been spending my stam daily to get the Ruby chests  containing some of all the frags, for my future composing needs.

Gripe, gripe, gripe.  Is that all some of you do?

I turned 68 today and am having fun with this game in the winter of my years, because I have more time behind me than I do ahead of me.   I come from a time before, where when you got knocked on your ass, you grabbed  your boot straps, hauled your  ass up off the ground, dusted it off and got on down the road.

What's wrong with you people?  If you can't have, no one can? If you want  something, work for it, like I am.  You have decided I have no right to the ruby  chests because in time I will be able to make BIG potions?

You folks are really quite amazing, really you are.

Now it's back to spend more stam in hopes of getting ruby.

Get to work and work for the good of the community.   Stop crying about what someone else has and go get it for yourself.

Oh yeah, I voted, Don't know, in the poll because I really don't know. I have not used many of the potions yet. I like making mine.
