I have no idea what the value of PvPxp will be or to who it will be valuable to. What I do know is that I want the ability to take xp from someone that attacks me if I choose to. This change removes that choice

We both know PvP players do not value XP to the extent that us levelers do.  If  PvP XP has more value to a PvP player then XP, and you take that PvP XP from them it is going to hurt. 

 

I have no idea how this is all going to pan out .. I just hope that it is a good deal for all involved.

I use my prestige EVERY hunt.  I get about half from bounty hunting, the rest from hitting each and every one of my peers, every third day.  I pay a price for this, a small one that I am willing to pay, but many are not. An extra 10% may not seem like much, but for someone like me who starts more likely than not 2 levels down, prestige is a godsend.  

I agree, but i don't hit players very much for it so i save it for double XP events

It gains me more xp from each creature kill and so more levels during events.


Prestige is really only good for gaining levels because you get nothing when attacking other players

prestige is gained from PVP... how do you know you will not value PvPXP (or whatever it is called)  when the Cows have not defined it yet. 

 

BG said that it would have value.

 

We do not know and it is difficult to say, at this point, that keeping XP loss will be better.

The choice for a vote must be very plain and clear and as it stands now its not. XP loss or no XP loss does not solve the real problem. To give a valid vote the community must understand what the choices mean to everyone. Do you really want to be a soft target because with no xp loss you are. Without the ability to take from your attacker something that you don't want you have no real way to punish. This PvPxp is something I don't want but yet if I win a return attack I get it. If I take a bounty for friends I get it. What good is it to me I am a leveler and don't want to be part of any PvP type ladder.

What good is prestige for a leveler?

BigGrim, I think it would help, all concerned, if we had a post from HCS on a HCS solution (plan a head) on PvP.  Not trying to rush you guys as a rushed post will only open up more complaining.  No rushed post please.

 

It is hard to keep posting on a subject when it is unknown what ideas HCS is seriously considering and how HCS is thinking of incorporating. 

 

There has been little of value posted by players lately as I think most everyone is waiting on you guys! 

 

Just my opinion, but i think I am speaking for most of us.

not you yotwehc again, do you come here to pick on players or to have fights?

primebr only said his opinion about the xp loss in pvp

 

there are tons of levelers who do 10 stam prestige hits, they do that to get up to +10%xp for their next hunt (there are levelers who trade prestige hits)

 

some leveling guilds have pvpers too and some pvp guilds have pure levelers too

 

if you post here then do not attack players, primebr only gave his opinion, mary and biggrim keep saying to stay civil

Is the issue that he pointed out the crew that he is in?

Let Penny try to be the voice of reason.... we have a small percentage of the population of Eldirath complaining about another small percentage of the Eldirath population... Fallen Sword is a business.... Even small percentages have an impact on the bottom line.  I don't like these changes, but I can try to empathize with these players... They are being beleaguered and we all are paying for it,  It's not fair, but, as in real life, in this virtual world, life ain't always fair...In fact, it rarely is... Let's just stop beating a dead horse and move on....

Fellow FS players:

 

If I had an answer I would post it. 

 

 I am hoping someone can post ideas to fix this issue. The issue is not profit, it is control.

 

If you read back in this forum you will see I am against splitting the arena for 99 win players and below... no easy button... I am not talking easy wins, I am talking about how to ensure control of tokens is not in the hands of the few.  That is not good for the game.

 

I am also not for Epic's in ladder or Arena unless the control aspect can be mitigated

The higher competition will make it 50/50 (or very close to it) for everyone in the arena. 50/50 means tokens will be distributed more or less equally over hundreds of players and it will take more time for everyone to get those items. The "masters" exist only because there is no motivation to challenge them. Eventually, it's not a difficult task to combine few items together to make a setup/strategy challenging for others. Some players just need a motivation to start doing it.    

That would be true if players only played one level band.  1 player controls multi-bands of battles.  points will not be spread over 100's of players. 

 

New players have to have the sets to get tokens and sets cost FSP.... Have you seen the prices on arena gear since the update?

 

New players will get very little and will be told to keep playing and enjoy the challange?  They dont have the gold nor FSP to do this. 

 

As I said in an earlier post, Epic are not a good idea unless players or HCS come up with controls.

The idea is to create long-term goals for the arena and ladder. The prices are high, so it will take time to get those Epic rewards. We need motivation for the arena.

 

The Titan hunting thing was supposed to be a teamwork activity, but what players are doing is starting solo guilds. It should be back to "Winner takes it all" concept (no points). 

Because players stopped hunting titan's as they could not beat FFS in kills (back in the day).  Cows added TKP to keep even smaller guilds into titan hunting... I like the TKP system as, I believe,  it has helped smaller crews acquire Epics. 

 

Let me ask you this: 

 

If epics are adding in and players come back to arena doesnt that mean more arena master level players to contend with? 

 

If it does how is this going to increase long term players in the arena?

 

New players will drop out of the arena.  The old time arena master will do everything in there power to control prices as they did in the past.  When the massive profit is gone these same players will stop playing, their price control will no longer be in place, prices will drop, items will not be worth the tokens used to get them,  and arena will be back to only a few playing it

Ok, we have one example here. One player opted-in from the first day of PvP Ladder and never left it. Now he has about 1k PvP Ladder tokens. I don't think his life on the ladder over all these years doesn't deserve 2 Epics.   

I joined the game in Dec 2008.  Should I get 2 Epics for that?

On average, it takes the same time/effort to earn 1 PvP Ladder token / 20 Arena tokens. It's difficult to compare both systems.  

What effort on the ladder, some fight on ladder others do nothing. 

 

If one joins a ladder and it has 3,4,5, or 6 players from 1 crew on it one is going to use a bunch of stamina on buffs and 100 stam hits.  When a crew just sits on a ladder  no one from other crews can compete as they have to remove ourselves from the ladder to regain stamina while the crew camping on the ladder can continue to sit on it and do nothing and gather tokens. 

 

I said all that to say,  the ladder tokens should not be over valued. 

 

One way to help the issue... have an arena in the first realm of a range and you must be on that arena to join the ladder.  If a crew does this then their relics protection will decrease.

Just a thought...

 

 

Regarding the new epic shield if it ever gets implemented, I'd like to see the elemental shields (level 900) being used as an ingredient. Something along these lines (feel free to make other suggestions):

 

 

Kraganath Helm + [Writhing Ward x 4] = Kraganath Shield (maybe +4?)

 

Kraganath Shield + Elemental (Blazing, Shimmering, Terra, Zephyr) Shield = Reinforced Kraganath Shield of (Fire, Ice, Earth, Wind) (+6)

 

 

This is so hunting the lower level Guardian of the Elements titan would still be viable and would at least lessen the impact on Elemental Shield prices and more importantly make the +6 Reinforced Kraganath Shield highly valuable and somewhat challenging to create.

Question:

 

Why would the Elemental shield lower in value?

 

It would cover as the best shield from level 900 to 2200.  Maybe would lower alittle from EOC players selling them, but there are alot of players from 900 to 2200 to buy them.

 

If my thought process is off let me know please.

I have side tracked this subject.. Sorry all. 

 

I am no longer for epics in Arena, unless players or HCS can ensure this does not become another area to be exploited.  I have no issue with better players earning more token and as such more profit, I have an issue with controlling prices. 

 

Good systems already in place: tokens going to more then 1st place and open pick of what rewards you can buy.

Really?  Controlling Arena's can  be winning 80 - 90% of battles in the ranges you play... control can be talking to other players that "control" a range of arena's to control prices.

 

Contol can be come in may different forms.  Why are players trying to seperate the arena if players are not "controlling" the arena thruogh winning vast majority of battles?

I am thinking epics in arena might be a bad idea. 

 

Old players will come back, but new players will only be smashed in the mix of better players.  The question is, of these old players how many were into controling the price of arena items.

 

Epics in arena will only increase arena until the better players stop making massive FSP and can no longer control the price of arena items just like in the past.  Control arena, control price of rewards.

 

Getting to pick from all rewards should cut back their ability to control, but will it be enough

Quick math so check if you want.

If average person wins 51% of the time and the average prize is 40 tokens. Also mostly based on 8 man tourney.

But you would get 15.4 tokens per tourney entered.

Wins?   Wins tokens or arena?  No avg player win 50% or I am a fool as my percentage is very very low... I have played every  arena (i saw) level 1500 to EOC and have lost every one of them for weeks.

I'm trying to figure out a reasonable price for an Epic in the Arena. I've got 220 Arena tokens from the last 8 arenas I joined (3-4 days). Do you think it's ok to get an Epic from ~80 arenas?   

The issue is that you guys earn tokens much faster then the rest of us.  You cannot base the cost off the best arena players nor the worst.  But we dont have access to that  game data

try being new to arena and winning 100 arena tourneys - 8 players...no matter who you are going against...not that easy...yes, for a select few that are part of a top guild that has all the top-notch arena gear available, and top-notch players for advice..it might be easy...but for most others..not so easy...and there are many other medals that are a lot easier to get...this would still be a hard one to get, and could not be bought, or gotten with doing nothing, or traded for...has to be earned..and if it gets more players involved in arena...i dont care if they give it out in a cereal box..

Please look at my arena wins... 75.... i think i had 25 give or take a few, before the update.  I know how hard it is to win.  I have wasted millions upon millions gold on arenas.  Still no reason to setup a different group of Arena Battles and make the change occur after the first medal is earned.

no need to have lots of divisions...just add about 20-30 tourneys to the novice section(that is already in place) for tokens..ranging from 5k-30k entry fees...8 players...only those without a medal can join, they may be slow filling but at least it is something for them to try....gives those newer players a small time frame to get used to arena, cheaply - ...they can learn how the moves work and get themselves ready for the regular arena, once at 100 wins..no more novice section for them....this would not have any effect on the regular tourneys and should be outta sight and outta mind for those regular arena players ( how many regular arena players even look at the novice section? ), very few, if any i would imagine..... and eventually those novices graduating to regular arena will add numbers to regular arena..which is much needed..

so everyone gets an easy medal?
