#890746 what happened to guilds defending their own?

Posted by justinian9 on 22 September 2014 - 23:17 in Guild Discussion

I agree that guilds as a general rule do not defend each other as in the past, but there are a few that do still hold defending mates as a virtue.  Individual choices we all make, such as the choice to bounty or not, the choice to set up delevel parties or not to, the choice to only level or to only PVP or to do whatever it is we choose to do ... THAT is a blessing.  We are all FREE to make CHOICES.  Now, we must live with the consequences of the choices we make.  A choice or it's consequence doesn't in itself make something "right" or "wrong", but every action does have a reaction and every non-action has its own reaction.  The fact that we might not get the reaction we desire on making our choice is simply the way life is.  I would like to eat steak with carbs 24/7 and have my body look like my old LuxFerre avatar ... but ... ain't gonna happen.  This is life and it's order.  We are blessed to be able to make the choices we make and we need not blame the system, but instead make our choices in accordance with our own value systems.  What one could do, if one CHOOSES, is to align oneself with others that share the same or have similar value systems.

I agree.

As a member of a guild that still does honor alliances, I will say that ALL of my allies know I offer my blade.  I think that over the years, we have settled into a levelers vs PvPers mentality.more than ever before,  This saddens me

I believe most, if not all,  PvP crews still honor alliances as you guys depend on that support more often then we do due to the type of play you guys in gauge in.

I'm not sure it's sad, it's good to have enemies in a game.  I think the issue is when we take things personal.  This is a game for me, as it is for many.

Many leveling guilds defended their own in the past. Our gold thieves assumed their own risk, so losing 5 lvls for a gold hit was business as usual. Our rules are still the same:

GOLD HITS: We encourage you to discourage them. We do not protect our thieves that are caught with their hand in the cookie jar from reprisals except in 2 situations. 1. Trashtalk, disrespect, or threats are involved or 2. mercs are used.

BTW, there were ruthless PvP wars between top leveling guilds in the past, for example, TEW (1st place) vs. Relentless (3rd place). The most frequent reasons for warring between leveling guilds were old PvP points (how ironic) and Relics. The PvP guilds warred with the leveling guilds over trashtalk, disrespect, threats, mercs, relics. I don't remember any war over taking 5 lvls for a gold hit.

Relic wars were fun!!  Now there are more then enough for all the crews.

I am just talking about a simple de-leveling party to defend ones mate. Allies being allies.  Heck mates being mates, isn't that why we join guilds for support when we need it?

I have been watching the BB and it seems that this is no longer a standard.

Pretty sure I'm probably wrong but I'd blame the epic potions/buffs that were introduced. Back then there were no level 500 Conserves and 1200+ DBLs. Gold was harder to come by and people thought any listing over 100k was overpriced. Back then EXP was also tougher to get so when you got hit and lost 1 million EXP, it meant you had to work to get that back. People actually cared about both more IMO.

Now someone can just throw on some Zombie brewed epic pots and regain any lost exp/gold in a matter of minutes. Couple that with the fact that PVP allies ARE still connected pretty much means most people won't bother. Why delevel party and risk a war where you will be outnumbered and potentially get other guildmates that want no part of it, involved?

Lose-lose situation because in the end the PVPers will still go on with stealing gold if the hunter is careless.

But doesn't this point fall in line with my point.  I just lost 109 levels fighting on the BB and just waited until I had full stamina, buffed and epic potioned up and regained all the levels plus 18 more and still had stamina left... so why not fight the good fight?  It adds more GXP to!  I dont see why we levels would care its a win, win situation for us. I dont care if I lose levels, Its no big thing.

Now I do understand lower level players having a concern about there level(s) (XP)  it is harder for them to get back.

We as levelers have figured out how to protect our gold and we should use the every trick to do so.

There are very few true PvPers left in the game, they like their levels and XP also. If this was not true then no PvP crew would be high up on the top rated guild list.

As a leveler, and the majority of my guild preferring that play style, I will NEVER ask my guild to have a delevel party on another player as I don't want them to lose levels. To me, that is working towards the greater good of the guild. It's easy to point the finger and blame evil levelers for not wanting to get into wars. I guess some of us have a different point of view.

That was not the view of levelers in the past.  We defended our own and if we lost level also so be it.  That is why we had allie crews to assist when needed.... to ensure we hurt the player in question.... and they responded! They also wanted to ensure that our crew would help them when they needed it.  Mates were mates back then. Now we are neutered by a love of XP.

It's called teamwork and most pvp players (and therefore guilds) understand this concept quite well while most leveling guilds seem to be full of people more focused on themselves and their own level number than actually working together for the greater good.  Sad but true and yet most levelers will say the teamwork of pvp'ers is evil and cause for the ruination of the universe.  Easier to point the finger of blame at others than look in the mirror I guess.

It was not that way before.  I believe it is sad, defending mates was always fun... i was not always strong enough to join in but most mates would defend a fellow mate and join in on de-leveling parties.  De-leveling parties were never for 10 stamina hits they were for 100 stamina hits and normally only if attacked more then once.   It seems like it started when players started power leveling and focused on their own selves.  I would like to see that change

#890446 what happened to guilds defending their own?

Posted by justinian9 on 21 September 2014 - 13:59 in Guild Discussion

Seems to me that PvP has been become an almost uncontested part of the game.  I could be wrong, but I see bounties on PvP players just sitting on the BB or when i check results the PvP player does not even lose 1 level as they are soft killed by friends.   I know PvP is still occurring as I see them getting bountied.

It appears most PvP crews work together so the breakdown in team play seems to be in leveling crews.

What happened to de-leveling parties and calling in allied crews to ensure the player losses 5?

Do allie crews even honor agreements when it comes to fighting back? Is the unofficial crew Allie system broken?  It is working well for PvPer as they have no issue calling in the allies.

Did all the fighting leveling players disappear or have we become overly  focused on our XP and level standings?

One would think with so many players at EOC that they would love to have something to do?

What are your thoughts on this subject?

EDIT:  PvPer comments are just as welcome as Levelers comments... just seems like it use to be better a few years ago before I quit playing for 2 years.

#890303 Confirmation When Deleting Combat Sets

Posted by justinian9 on 19 September 2014 - 21:41 in General Discussion

yes, yes and yes please.... and when saving a set... i have saved my stamina gain setup over a combat/pvp/arena setup  instead of switching combat set numerous times.  i cannot recall deleting 1 on accident.

#890177 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by justinian9 on 18 September 2014 - 23:03 in General Discussion

From what im getting this is something entirely separate from nearly everything PVP related currently in the game, in the sense it won't replace or change anything right? So ill go with that, pretty much it would be a lot similar to composing. You would have a leveling system, to which each level would unlock something new right?

How in depth do we want to go with this though it can be as simple as earning a level and gaining or losing XP, maybe earning some decent potions, resources, maybe new armor, bounty tickets, etc. But potions in this instance should all be PVP related, no Lightfoots, Adept Learners, Brew Masters and what have you. You cap it like composing, and instead of composing you would be able to lose xp as well as earn it. Maybe just allot points based off of wins, or cash in XP you earn as ways to buy the prizes(A small percent could go to the side similar to contributed guild xp but like Prestige you would burn it up when using it but only the required amount for the prize not the whole lot of it), or even go with Prestige to be the way to cash in? The higher your PVP level the better unlocks, or maybe even more xp gained per win?

Attacker would gain X xp and the Defender would lose Y xp provided there was a loss, but you would be able to earn more xp for winning a conflict(Be it on the attack or defense). So lets say attacker gains 100 XP for the win and defender loses 50 XP, however the attacker does not take the other persons XP only new XP so no XP transfer. So you could potentially incorporate it with the Bounty board so you could earn and lose PVP XP. But i guess that could be decided at a different time and maybe not include PVP XP. But it would also have to be decided on how much xp is gained from a regular 10 stam vs 100 stam, as well as the leveling XP between each level.

But i would say between the two of them Option 1, it's more likely to succeed and maybe less headache too. Hopefully i didn't stray to far from what your aiming at :)

What about this, if you have a negative number in PvP level or PvP XP your PvP enhancements max are lowered (PvP combat only) and as you gain PvP level or PvP XP you gain PvP enhancements max % increase (above 100%)(PvP combat only)?

This would have to cap out at some point.

#890077 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by justinian9 on 18 September 2014 - 02:09 in General Discussion

There are 7 quotes discussing high levels attacking low levels and vice versa, including 3 from you.  Don't cop an attitude with me about reading the thread when you don't know what's contained in it, and you even started it and discussed that very thing.  You came up with some half-baked idea that you are hoping someone else will fill in the details on because you're a "big picture" kind of guy and can't be bothered with the small stuff. Guess what?  The devil is in the details.  The idea was garbage when you posted it and it's still garbage so don't be surprised that not everyone is falling all over themselves to further kill PvP.

Please note my posts were questions to understand what clock96 was thinking and, as clock96 ask, I answered which idea number 1 or number 2 I liked. Not sure why questions concerning an idea would get you worked up, but maybe you had a bad day.

I agree, it would be wise for players to discuss the "Big Picture" and "small stuff" to help solidify the idea(s) and not leave it all to HCS. "The devil is in the details."

#890050 where did all the legendarys go ?

Posted by justinian9 on 17 September 2014 - 20:34 in General Discussion

Seems to me very few players farmed the old LEs last time... very few of the sets are still useful...  the chompers were new sets so a bunch of folks were farming them.  Is my memory off?

If the drops are not worth some FSP hunters will be limited. Not sure limited farmers is a bad thing if players are doing it for fun or frags.

#889712 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by justinian9 on 15 September 2014 - 04:10 in General Discussion

btw, if I attack a person in my range, it won't matter if he is wearing epics or not, I can still attack him, if a PvPer can beat people with buffs and PvP gear on ladder then attacking other players in my range won't be hard, if you sit in stam gear then you choose to loose PvP XP, I shouldn't get pulled back because a person sits in epics for example, you want PvP XP ? Then work hard and wear good setups to slightly decrease the chance of getting attacked

We are getting off topic but when we discuss potions and PvPers dont want higher lvl potions because it takes away from skill and in a different forum PvP topic it is up to the defender (who has no idea he is going to be attacked) to ensure skill is involved.  I see no consistence.

But I like option 1... i think i am out of this discussion and leave it to you PvPers.

#889703 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by justinian9 on 15 September 2014 - 03:39 in General Discussion

Regarding your comment on "upper level players wearing stam gain set-ups", that's a choice. Whether it's a level 60 or a EOC player both have the option to wear stam gear or proper offline gear.  I don't think that should be a factor to worry about, if this idea was to be implemented.

Going back to the OP, I like the first idea.  I seems fair to those who participate in PvP and to those who don't.  Since those who don't, aren't forced to play PvP.

I made the comment as I have seen PvPers stating PvP should be based on skill not uber buffs.  So i would assume PvPers would want PvPXP off skill not because they hit someone in stam gain setup

#889699 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by justinian9 on 15 September 2014 - 02:43 in General Discussion

Who said 1900 player can attack lvl 300 ? It will be with the ordinary range, for example lvl 300 can attack 290 to 310, bounty board will be open but will give low PvP XP gain for example if the ordinary is 10k, you will get only 100 PvP XP

ya I was talking BB...

Question:

What about the other way around... most upper level players stay in stam gain setups and are not hard targets on the BB when offline... I see low level PvP players bios posting wins on players in lvl 2000s... so I am sure they will think they should get more PvPXP... How would/ could that be controlled?  Level difference does not always define level of difficulty involved.

#889696 PvP XP / XP through PvP

Posted by justinian9 on 15 September 2014 - 01:50 in General Discussion

As a leveler...

I like idea # 1...The idea of a level of PvP sounds like a very cool idea.

Prestige would still only gain from ladder but PvPXP would increase as well?

if i attack a creature a few level down my XP gain is cut way back.  Would it be the same for PvPXP?   If I as a 1900 lvl player 100 stams a 300 level player on the BB,  XP loss would be the same as now but my PvPXP gain would be next to nothing?

But how do you rank a level 300 who 100 stams a level 1900 player on the BB in stam gain setup and offline?  Level of difficulty is pretty low also?

#889542 Arena Update #4

Posted by justinian9 on 13 September 2014 - 17:24 in General Discussion

i really do hate waiting for arena battles to fill... but it really sucks when you have to wait 24 - 48 hours to test a modification to your setup or combat moves.

As I am just playing for fun i normally forget which arena i used the different setup.  Don't care enough to write it down... and sometimes i keep using the modified setup so i either do well or lose all the arenas...

Just bored not really bxxching, dont have much to do as i stare at my stamina waiting for it to fill.

#889112 Composing Recipes

Posted by justinian9 on 10 September 2014 - 23:46 in General Discussion

Kind of off topic, hope you don't mind.

I am not sure if this can be done, but it would be nice if composed pots could be assigned to a mate and those pots become bound to the guild mate not the guild or the creator.... maybe a drop down list of guild members that the creator can pick from and when the potion is complete it gets sent to that players mailbox to download in his BP.  Bound to that mate.

This would allow the player who has worked his way up to earn some gold or fsp if he wished for some non-standard composing potions.  By Non-Standard i mean if the inventor is in a leveling crew and makes no cost to user potions for mates would be a standard pot, but if a mate asks for a potion to be created for PvP use and pays for the pot(s) to be created why not allow it to be bound to the guild mate that paid for it.

The composed potion would still be bound and in the guild.

ISSUE

This could be abused by allowing players to join a crew to receive pots for payment  then leave the crew and return to his old crew... as potions would be bound to the individual the pots would leave the guild with the player. But GXP would be lost so i am not sure how much this would occur.

Note:  I am composing level 6.  I have not composed a pot in ages

To answer the question, I voted yes, but not in AH only in a controlled environment as in something like my post.  These guys have paid out alot of FSP to get frags at least some small return would be nice

I dont think levelers need another gold sink just to stay off the ladder.

#888864 PvP-Ladder Sollutions.

Posted by justinian9 on 09 September 2014 - 04:06 in General Discussion

Much are talked about Ladder latelly, maybe if we just put all the ideas on the same topic and talk about it, HCS can read and choose the better option to the problem.

Opt 1:
- No bounties.
- Without attacks on guildmates.
- No limit of players from the same guild.
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

Opt 2:
- No bounties.
- Without attacks on guildmates.
- Max of 2~3 players from the same guild on each reset (random choose from server).
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

Opt 3:
- No bounties.
- With attack on guildmates.
- No limit of players from the same guild.
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

Opt 4:
- Bounties allowed.
- Without attacks on guildmates.
- No limit of players from the same guild.
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

Opt 5:
- Bounties allowed.
- With attacks on guildmates.
- No limit of players from the same guild.
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

Opt 6:
- Open Ladder, without the 'Opt-In' system.
- Bounties allowed.
- Without attacks on guildmates.
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

Just quote the idea you like the most, or propose another one and I'll try to add to this post with your name on it, we need to find a sollution to the problem.

Opt 7:
- No bounties.
- With attacks on guildmates.
- Max of 2~3 players from the same guild on each reset (random choose from server).
- No Attack = No Tokens and no Dominance Medal ticks.

I dd not see this combo in an option
