I don't know if this would really work.
It would allow people to farm lower level instances to get flakes, then transform them into better flakes. I don't think HCS would want flakes to work this way.
When mobs started dropping flakes, the usefulness of crafting (already low) took a blow. This would further downgrade it.
Touché.

Not sure why, but I'd almost rather go for upgrading & downgrading using FP (and maybe cores for infernal flakes), or something. Though going back to artisan awards would free up precious bag space.

I'm one of the many who started as Templar then switched to higher dps to level, and yes, Templars need to be made more enticing to play. Higher damage output is one way of doing this, but it's a delicate balance--can't make them too OP.
I've been kind of championing/trying to rehash the idea of a dual-spec option as I think it's a quick & easy solution to problems finding groups. I'm sure there are plenty of warriors & warsins (myself included) who would be happy swap spec to tank a dungeon run if it didn't mean they'd have to be married to the class. Same goes for mages and healing. Hell, assassins & rangers, too, if they don't mind carrying around another armor set.
There are also a handful of good tanks out there who have trouble finding groups while playing their dps class. This would allow them to get the relics they need on the character they choose while ultimately playing the class they want to play.
Ugh, I can go and have gone on and on about the many advantages of it (see link below), but the main reason I think it's a good idea is exactly that: it would make finding dungeon runs easier by eliminating a lack of specific classes.
Yes, there'd be more tanks who need to learn how, but new tanks need that anyway. Long term there would be more people who know how to tank & heal and therefore would understand group dynamics better and could help teach other new-to-classes.

Well been so much time after that post and still this has not been done. maybe they Still "planing" it. something as simple as that would have made the community very happy and it don't seem complicated to do compared to other stuff like guilds or New dungeons wich obviously do take more time but still looks like they don't have the time or the drive for doing this ;p
Indeed. I can no longer hide behind being completely new to this game, but one thing I learned very quickly was that things take some time to be implemented. (Which doesn't really bother me but seems to bother some a LOT.) However, what concerns me about this is how it will probably be implemented (if they ever do it). I imagine something like ~1000ep per character to unlock a dual-spec option, then dual-spec will have like a 24 hour cool down or some nonsense...

However, I question swapping roles for dungeons. I would rather they completely remove character bound items (including pets and achievements) and make everything account bound. Then players could just make alts, which would stimulate the lower level game a bit more.
Would it? What I'd do is farm all the lower level sets on my main, send them to leveling alts, and never set foot in a lower level dungeon again--unless I felt like it for exp, but even that would be story mode. I'd have all the gear so grinding and questing would be a lot easier. What reason would there be to go back to those dungeons? (Not trying to be rude, just curious if I'm missing something.)

There are quite a few people complaining about lack of runs and not being able to find groups. I'm sure a lot of them would be happy to tank or heal if it didn't mean they would be stuck with that class/spec. I see this as an easy fix to that problem.
Chatter in this thread died down again once I asked for ways to improve finding groups and examples why this would be a bad thing.

I wouldn't mind anything level 30+ being account bound -
AP / Prestige/ Valor / relics from To3+ dungeons - would love to see all of these function on account level.
But as Fiz said, lower level dungeons would be completely redundent if everything was account bound, so limit it to everything level 30+ would be a nice balance I reckon.
Or just make fabled items account bound <3
In this scenario I imagine having one "dungeon toon" (probably tank or healer for theoretically more easily found runs) and farming dungeons on that one toon to gather gear for others. I imagine others would do the same, though not all same class.
In theory people would farm for their alts, but they'd likely stop altogether once they got one of each set, wouldn't they? I dunno if it'd open up more public runs or not. There'd need to be more incentive to keep running (weeklies don't even seem to be doing it atm).
As I mentioned before, this would certainly make a lot of gearing up a LOT easier.

This suggestion isn't an auto-win, nor does it take any of the work out of leveling and gearing up toons (unless you count LFG as work). I've seen it work just fine in other games. It adds variety to and improves on game-play for some, and it doesn't really make anything that much easier other than finding a group for dungeon runs (which is the reason I asked about it in the first place). I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want that.
If you've got other suggestions on how to do that, I'd like to hear 'em. The best I've heard is making tanks more attractive to play, which I agree with, but that's pretty vague--how would you do that?
If you've got ideas/examples on how dual-spec would hinder game-play (other than "this isn't how it was"), I'd be interested in hearing that, too.
If you do count LFG as part of the "work", then I guess that's just a difference of opinions. Personally I see it as the most frustrating part of "end game"--a growing annoyance that this could help minimize. And it should be minimized.

In a "classless" game, there's never a lack of need for alts, at least on my end (wtb birth stones). Plus, alts = bag space. ![]()
@ernzor: To me there's room for improvement there. I'd happily swap and tank on my already-geared warsin (Saturday WB runs would start 2 mins after reset...), but I don't want him to be married to the Templar class/spec. And I'm slowly leveling my tank, but it will be a while before he's ready to run ASV--and his runs won't help my current warsin.
@rowbet: I kinda see your point, but I personally don't mind character-bound gear. Leveling up & gearing up helps you learn to play that class and keeps a bit of work involved for that character. It would absolutely make things easier, but hitting max level and instantly having the best gear feels wrong to me... Feels kind of ebay'd.
Just to add a few things...
I know of at least 2 tanks who, since the last update, stopped tanking and then started tanking again because they couldn't find runs (one of them often spams on his warrior for weekly runs with little success), plus another baller tank who now has 2 tanks 'cause it was the quickest way for him to gear his warsin.
This may result in fewer alts, but there are plenty of players who only have one or two characters as it is. People may pay to respec less often as well (probably the main reason this won't happen any time soon), but it certainly wouldn't stop completely--they'd have a spec that works and another to test with.
My former mage is still learning to heal.
Consider again some scenarios this would help: PVE/PVP specs, max aoe/max single target dmg, group play/solo farming & grinding (mentioned here: https://forums.hunte...set-me-off/)...

And really these characters are running around all the time, carrying stuff, fighting, etc. They've gotta be pretty fit--why's it take them so long to get off their backside? I could get up & sit down 2 or 3 times in the time it takes them to get on their feet.
