#794913 Should we limit creatures you can attack based on Actual Level?

Posted by SandisMan on 09 June 2013 - 19:13 in General Discussion

Sorry to say it blunt, but this is nonsense.

The other guy was already 55 levels higher, so he ALREADY went those 55 levels at the normal rate. Now, he has lost some levels and he is hitting somebody above his AL (but not his VL) so he is getting the xp he should be getting when he wasn't delevelled. He is just regaining lost levels.

On another note, I noticed you are level 995. I assume you are *not* going to buy Smashing Hammer and Coordinated Attacks buffs for your hunt? Because using buffs which you can't cast yourself isn't fair when you are levelling. Those who reached 995 before you, and did it the very first times didn't had access to Smashing Hammer and Coordinated Attack. Just do the math and see how far you can get those levels without access to the level 1000-1200 buffs. I assume that you will notice that you will be 2hitting more then you are doing now. Those who hit those high levels earlier, did it without all the buffs and gear we have now.

I also find this to be nonsense.

Your buff comparison is flawed.  Those buffs did not exist, so how can that be held against me.

"He is just regaining LOST levels."  I like this statement.  And it proves my point.  If you lose something, why should it be easier for you to regain?  If on accident I delete an epic, it is lost.  I do not get to purchase one at a reduced price, or gain one with reduced limits, it was lost, just like the levels.

I am looking at this debate through different eyes I believe.  Most players are concerned about how things affect themselves.  I frankly do not care if they get extra guild exp.

My problem with this is my stamina per exp against someone who has deleveled to my level.  Someone hits level 1050, then delevels to my level of 995.  They get to hit a level 1050 critter, I am hitting a 995.  They will be able to gain back the levels much faster than I can earn them, so I am burning much more stamina than they are.

Regardless of the pay versus free player argument, epics are available to all, player upgrades are available to all, buffs, etc, etc.  That player getting more experience than me, at my level, puts me at a disadvantage.  It was that players choice to delevel 55 levels, and he/she gets rewarded by being able to level faster than someone at the same level.  Kind of sounds unfair to me.

My 2 cents.

#777613 Low levels in High realms

Posted by SandisMan on 10 February 2013 - 02:10 in General Discussion

Lets be honest what "big advantage" does this player have over anyone else? Getting a bigger bang out of the stamina, that is about it.

The biggest advantage is game experience. If we were talking about the level 150 pvp bracket, it would not be an issue. With the epic quests adding the current stamina, it not out of the realm of possibility for a player to be level 49 in 1,2,3 days. So how does a 3-7 day old player deal with someone(who has learned game mechanics for 4 years) beating on them all the time? Easy decision, quit.

Most people are arguing for or against this being a bug/exploit, whatever you want to call it, but if it is hurting player retention, it should stop.

I am all for people playing the game the way they want to play, until how they play makes new players leave the game. I do not care how(or if) this is changed, as long as new players staying or possibly leaving is taken into account.

#773725 CD for Titans

Posted by SandisMan on 15 January 2013 - 03:38 in General Discussion

Alright, so why is the whole guild punished by cooldown if an individual or group secures a titan? Seems to be designed to produce tension within a guild and encourage separation. I don't think HCS would intend to do something like that, seeing as it is a community-based game.

Punished? Your guild receives an epic item, and it is punishment? I think this is a simple case of "take the bad with the good". Using your logic, no one in the guild should receive relic bonuses if they do not help defend it. No one should get structure bonuses if you do not donate gold, etc.

#772623 Guild Tax Increase

Posted by SandisMan on 09 January 2013 - 04:19 in General Discussion

I see no problem with raising the guild tax rate even to 50%. By raising the guild taxes it may also make guilds spend fsp on more ranks. Since every rank can be individually set with the tax rate.

I also do not see a big difference for low levels either. I would find it hard to believe that there are very many guilds out there that have low level members at 25%, let alone putting them at 35%. The tax increase would be geared to players over level 300.

The only real problem i see with this, is that it hides another 10% of gained gold from PVP players.

#769601 Secure Trade for Buffs!

Posted by SandisMan on 22 December 2012 - 05:41 in General Discussion

The first time I saw this thread, a thought came to mind. Now that the thread is back, my thought still had not been expressed by anyone, so here goes.

My first thought was not, "how can i abuse this to get more stamina", or "there is a multitude of thieves". It was, this could really help the newer players and/or guild mates. People from all over the world play this game. A lot of us cannot be on 3,4,5,6 hours a day. So if you have a multi-national guild, it might be tough to be online when others are online and need to hunt. Before I log off, I notice one of my guild members might be hunting when I am at work, so I throw them a ST with buffs to use when they are ready.

For all of the mentors who are helping lower level players, before they log off, they throw up a few buff trades for the newbies to use when they can. I am one of the highest levels in my guild, so if i want to buff guild mates, or newbies, but let them use the buffs when they need them, I am all in favor of this idea. Save my guild mates time looking for buffs(and a bit of cash), and saving the newbies from spending a bunch of cash, or settling for non level 175 leveling buffs.

Just my 2 cents.

#768933 Karthak Dilemma

Posted by SandisMan on 18 December 2012 - 20:09 in General Discussion

Ok guys, I am a leveler, and I understand Karthak is a great quest area, but I am going to get to it during the double exp event. Is there a way around doing the quests so that I may go straight through? Or should I just raise the price of my buffs and buff all the lucky ones during the event?

I look forward to going back and doing the quests I have heard so much about, but it is counter productive during an exp event.

Thanks for any help on this subject.

#764998 Update v2.07

Posted by SandisMan on 24 November 2012 - 03:40 in General Discussion

HCS, I think this is an awesome upgrade. I want to start with that before I go more in depth.

The BP upgrade. I think it is great, but let's make it a consistent gold sink. Maybe 1 or 2 a week instead of a limit of 5. Even at 2 a week, that is 104 a year, that places max BP at 14+ years if you do not invest in fsp.

A few people are suggesting reserve stamina instead of current stamina. I have no opinion on this as any extra stamina is a good thing in my mind. :)

Now, for my interesting brainstorm. Please, read entirely before bashing, flaming, etc.

Two big problems. Need a gold sink, and new players(player retention). The gold sink may have been taken care of(at least short term). New players, and retaining those new players. Let's be realistic. How many level 7 players make 100k per hunt to buy the upgrades?(again, I love the update, just hear me out.) Maybe player retention starts with MORE gold for the lower levels. I am not saying killing a rat should give you 25k gold, but would it be better if it gave a new player 50 instead of 5. Increase the gold drops for say the first 50 levels. I say 50 because the first 30 go by in the blink of an eye with the new epic quests(which I also think are great). Increasing lower level gold may keep players around because they can afford the BP and stam upgrades. If they can get more stam and BP quicker, they may be able to get into farming, or merchant, or be able to get an offline set to counteract gvg bashing, etc. Just my two cents, please be nice..:)

#760346 What makes you keep coming back to play?

Posted by SandisMan on 30 October 2012 - 04:52 in General Discussion

I think it may be helpful to new players, if they were given the starting max stamina, to match 24 hours of the starting stamina gain.

This would allow new players to log in once a day, at max stam and use all their stamina, however they see fit.

It will give them more options, from when they join, to maybe try other aspects of the game, rather than just levelling.

With 24 hours of stamina to use, they could pvp ladder/gvg more efficiently, farm some creeps or plants etc. then invent stuff, bounty hunt etc. etc.

Give them more freedom when they join, rather than make it a chore to log in with the sole purpose to level up a bit, so they dont go over max stam.

Just a thought, I might be wrong, but it could encourage more players to stick around, as they would have the stamina bank to expand their gameplay options, early on.

I agree with this in principle, but on day one of the game, who can gvg and pvp? I think there needs to be beginning quests that teach all of this. That way they can explore, hunt, pvp, at their pace(with the quests), and be more educated by level 5-10.

#760247 What makes you keep coming back to play?

Posted by SandisMan on 29 October 2012 - 22:53 in General Discussion

I play this game because no matter what my mood, or inclination, there is always something to do. If I am upset, I can PvP, GvG, if I have the time I can level, if I have no stam, I can cave, and invent. This is the only game I have ever played where you can still have something to do when you are out of stam(energy, etc).

#760235 What would encourage you to invite friends to play?

Posted by SandisMan on 29 October 2012 - 22:43 in General Discussion

A global noob chat where only mentors and noobs are allowed might be nice. This will make certain new players will always have access to the welcoming committee.

I actually think this is a great idea. No matter what guild the new player joins, there is help always there.

I agree with others that the economy is so inflated that it is just tough to start out. The epic quests are a great beginning. There is no defense for being smashed in pvp or gvg day in and day out. Especially if the new player does not want to join a huge guild for defense while not understanding the mechanics of the game.

Maybe a newbie guild, that new players automatically join at level 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 or whatever level. A founder set up by the cows with auto refresh, and buffing. Offer protection and help to the players that do not even realize they need help or protection.

Further advancement of the tutorials would help, even if there is no reward for completing. Make them quests. "Quest to start PvP", "Quest to GvG.", Quest to Cave", etc, that further explains other aspects of the game.

#760198 Upcoming Events

Posted by SandisMan on 29 October 2012 - 21:06 in General Discussion

I am sure there are a bunch of people that agree with you necra, but that is still my opinion, like it or not. I do not have 100's stashed to sell. I think I have 5, and even if the pots do not come out again this year, they will not be for sale. Unless of course that someone wants to pay the very high price I list when I am cycling them. I just think that when the game as a whole anticipates, and gets power pots, they will expect even more.

I actually hope that you cannot make the distil 150 pot this year. Regardless of price, it is a powerful pot.

#758371 Game Update v2.061

Posted by SandisMan on 11 October 2012 - 03:16 in General Discussion

The 'my auctions' button should override the 'currency' setting. If I am searching for plants with the currency option set to 'gold only'. if i have auctions set for fsp, when i click 'my auctions' the auctions do not come up. Thanks.

#743601 New Titan (Idea)

Posted by SandisMan on 03 July 2012 - 13:04 in General Discussion

I think this is a very intriguing idea, but:

1> if it only appears once every few weeks, do we want to have to invent the item? how many times would you have to kill it by yourself to get everything needed to invent it?

2> if the item is bound, would the resources be bound as well? or could this turn into a huge money maker for just the resources?

3> imagine this: i just finished my hunt, the titan spawns in my realm. how much would that location information be worth?

i see this being a huge race. the first one to find it has a huge advantage. i have no problem with that, but how many times would you have to be the first one to find it, and kill it 51%? would the item be good enough to warrant that much work?

all that said, i do think that this idea can be discussed, and it could become a great part of the game.
