#847332 Quest descriptions

Posted by Lazarus on 08 February 2014 - 13:19 in Suggestions

Please don't capitalize the item players are looking for in the quest descriptions. It looks just unprofessional and unrealistic. If it was meant to indicate what quest item you are looking for, then that is already given in the quest marker. Unless the quest item actually is unique, there is no need to capitalize it.

#847329 Volunteering is Mandatory

Not sure if this is a bug or a choice, but when you talk to Enziostein at the end of the quest, you are given 4 options. Only the 4th advances the quest, but if you select the other three, the quest automatically ends. I put this in the suggestions forum because it may be that you wanted your choice to actually matter, but I like to read all of the quest texts and all the quest choices. If there was a single other quest in the game like this, I would have respected this choice, but since this seems to be a one-off thing, I would ask that you either change it or put in some way of not making that choice permanent.

In Imp'roper Casting quest, Fibs refers to Ferocious Helipeppers in quest description, but creatures are Midgies

Throughout the Envenomed Sting quest, the people refer to Venomous Scorpion "Sting"s instead of "Stingers".

When talking to the eldevin guard who died at darrowvale outlook, he speaks! He says that he is dead.

Also, why is the upload limit so small? I can't attach a screenshot.

#838719 Quests & Culture - The Good and the Bad

Posted by Lazarus on 09 January 2014 - 02:29 in Suggestions

First the good: Some quests are just beautiful. They actually require some thought, or have humor, or make me put in an emotional investment. Quests like Examining the Mind, with the riddle in the flag descriptions, and the level 20 plague quest with the beetle puzzle. There's nothing quite as good as seeing the Plague Doctor for the first time, or watching Horus and his lackeys suddenly step out of the Garain Portal. It is these little things that make me truly love Eldevin.

The bad: The grindy quests. The ones that are basically 'go kill x of these' or 'go gather y of these' with no ulterior motive or explanation. If I'm going to go gather a bunch Illanon training daggers (which are practically swords to begin with), I want to know that they were at least put to good use.

I understand that solving the bad is no easy thing. Let's face it: Almost every MMO gets this wrong. Runescape pulled it off, WOW did not, and I can list so many MMOs that I simply could not like because of how boring their quests are. One game that truly did pull this off is Vindictus. Of course, this is a completely different type of game, but each "quest" in Vindictus had a specific purpose. It directly advanced the plot, or was at least interesting enough that I didn't mind the diversion.

I doubt that there is enough manpower or time to go back and rewrite the more boring quests. Instead, I propose you, the moderators, accept player-created quests. The players could, if they were willing to, write some of the dialogue/npc interactions, and you could pick the reward for completing the quest, just to keep it fair. This way, the players, those who like to read the quests, would see more interesting quests and also feel even more connected to the game.

Also, on a completely separate note, don't capitalize the creatures or items in the quest descriptions. That just doesn't make sense, and it looks like the writers were too lazy to really think about what they were writing, which I know they were not :)

Edit: I also completely forgot about the culture. By this I mean differentiating the different countries. What makes Illanoni different from those in the Eldevin City? Each area could have its own little culture, with specific foods, potions, and everything. Also, BOOKS! I, for one, would love a book collectible type thing, which would reveal more about Eldevin culture, the void, or anything else!

#837154 Display Case

Posted by Lazarus on 03 January 2014 - 19:16 in Suggestions

This probably wont happen for a LONG time, but I'd like it if there was some way to display the sets of equipment/vanities I collected. It would probably go along with some kind of residence update.

In the Northam Church Resurrection quest, the priestess mentions a resurrection 'stone' i stead of a resurrection point. Also, Scar shouldn't be in single quotes the whole time, only the first time he is mentioned.

#834719 New Ideas Problem

Posted by Lazarus on 25 December 2013 - 20:51 in Archived Bug Reports

In the New Ideas quest, I don't have Enziostein's plans, and I can't find a way to re-obtain them.

Is there any way to "reset" the quest?

In the ressurection point quest in the Eldevin army barracks, when clicking on the army equipment after already receiving it, it should say "I already have the army equipment", not "I already have army equipment"
