Indeed you see some differences when comparing other weapons. Although I would prefer those to adopt a system not unlike the one I suggested above.

It would add more fun and diversity when considering your a weapon of choice for your character build.


If nothing else, only to appease the physics nerds.A 20-30 pound sword should not swing faster than a 5-10 pound cestus. Ignoring of course the laws of physics in fantasy universes vary greatly depending on the game. :)

I'd like to see weapons such as one handed swords differentiated from other one handers like claw/fist weapons at ALL levels.

 

Similar to what they may do in other games, perhaps have swords be slower than claws but have a bigger damage base.

 

If their base weapon speeds stay the same, then maybe have special innate mods attached to weapons. Like make swords have a base %damage and/or block/defense bonus while smaller weapons like daggers and claws have a base %crit and/or accuracy bonus.
