No because of this. Our aim is not only the sinking, we want the gold lol. Paying (or using stamina) to buff a target to sink some gold without getting anything from it would be a bit weird.

Actually if you read the entire skill description Bodyguard kicks in after the theft, not before so gold stolen is not affected. I did put Bodyguard on my targets just before I hit them for a while but it didn't kick in much. The problem with BG is that it's all or nothing. I take about 3M xp on a 100 stam so if I make a gold hit my target has to have 3M gold remaining on hand after the hit or they still lose the entire amount of XP. If they are even 1 gold short they still lose 3M xp. BG would be much more useful if it reduced the XP loss by the amount of gold remaining after the hit. You would still lose some XP but not the full amount except in the case of a master thief. As it is now, my skill points are better allocated elsewhere.
