Hi all.

I recently reported a "bug" with plasma shield (mage talent).

This skill does not consider your armor and acts a if your defences are 0. So it substracts 100 mana per 100 incoming damage when you are naked and does the same when you are dressed in lvl40 heavy set.

Developers replied that there is no description, considering armor in talent and this might be a matter of public discussion.

So.....

What do you guys think? Should that skill consider armor or not? Please note that in current state it is absolutely useless. It negates about 1-1.2 hit of same level creep and about 0.6-0.8 hits of same level player at the cost of 25% mana.

I personally think that there are 2 possible solutions

1) change the ratio of mana consuption to 0.5 per 1 damage

2) make PlasmaShield consider your armor, as it should actually be

Or both.

I agree that Plasma Shield needs to be looked at.

I did some testing with it briefly, and it negates extremely little damage for the investment as RandomCitizen states.

I could see it seeing some use if there were more reasons than just Plasma Shield to take points in Energy(such as other talents that synergize with a high base mana) but as is, the skill is a waste of points(even though it only costs one point!)

I think it should get some more power too, It acts like bone armor from diablo 2.

I like plasma shield and it isnt waste for me, saved my life few times.

I add 1 more option that maybe will fit in mainly make plasma shield unbreakable till we have mana when mana reachs 0 then it vanish. It would help in selling some mp potions (every1 buys hp anyway).

Plasma Shield can be useful in one-hit situations, but it's an awful mana drain.  Sometimes it's more practical to just take the damage, mitigated by your armor (even if it's cloth armor) instead of using it.   But there are enough cases where it's useful that it's worth the point, even now.

I would agree with both points 1 & 2 in the OP, and and also possibly increase the drain from 25% of total to some larger value, possibly 50%.  Only then will it have a chance to last a decent length of time.

The increase to 50% would be great actually. As a mage i used about 10 mana potions during 267 hours of gameplay. Plasma shield should encourage mana mana potions use.
