Didn't see any specific place that said "Suggestions go here" so...

I've read a bunch of threads (some are kind of old but still) about trying to help out new players and what they face without gear/guilds for gear and wondered about a sort of token shop like the loyalty section somewhat.

New players would have some amount of tokens (50 100 150 something like that?) and the shop would function like the potion bazaar in the way that things can rotate through. It would have to be stressed that once they use all their tokens they are GONE zip zero nada no way to get them back/get more. Things that could circle through could be sets they could use, ie plague voodoo deep (few names i could actually think of..) and the items would be BOUND and would just have to be discarded after use.

So other things that could be.. rotateable (sp?) through the shop could be things like 5 of your tokens for +10 stamina or other little things they could buy with their "newbie tokens"

So for example: 100 token limit. One set of gear, five pieces lets say, could be sold in a container or individually, in a container it would be one token for the whole set of gear and they could mainly focus their tokens on upgrades and get the new gear when they did it going from say level 5-100 as i believe that is the new xp boost that was put in?

So token ideas:

Gear sets: 1 token for set/1 per piece

Max stam +10 5 tokens

Stam gain +1 20 tokens

Backpack +1 10 tokens

etc. Upgrades would be limited so as to not actually use ALL of their tokens on upgrades if they happen to have gear straight away, something like:

Max Stam +40 max (20 tokens)

Stam Gain +2 max (40 tokens)

Backpack +3 (30 Tokens) and other things if they were to be added, could possibly do small multi buff potions like AL Lib TH Merch 100 for 1 token?

Just an idea to help new people to the game find stuff, mostly would try to help out guildless players.

As long as I like it, that is just another way to say "Redeem Code", we had this a time ago giving almost all the things you said on the thread.

I think the game too complicated for new players, and the game doesn't give enough tools to make new players staying around that much, your idea is very good to start, but need a lot of work on it.

I've proposed some things in the past, I'll post it again:

- Give 200 free Stamina at 00:00 to all players, that stamina can be spent ONLY by buffing players who joined on less than 30 Days.

- Create 5 Newbie Spots on each Guild, that guild will can accept 5 players who joined on the last 30 days, after that, the guild have an opition to keep the player as a normal member, or the newbie will be kicked. Each guild which have 5 Newbies at the same time will receive +1 Stamina Gain (applied for all the members).

- Make the low level maps simpler, I was helping my cousin to start to play the game few months ago, and I saw how mess is those maps, I couldn't make him keep playing, too confusing.

- Add a new category on our profile (Allies and Enemies) called 'Newbies' or something, a place where we can add 5 players who joined on the last 30 days, and we will be able to help them, for free.

- Create some 'Gear Packs' on Loyalty rewards, called 'Level 20', 'Level 50' and few more, those items will be Bound, and the game will give initial 50 Loyalty Points, the 50 Loyalty Points must be enough to buy all the packs, those items couldn't be sold, tagged or de-fragged, only dropped.

Few things that come to my mind.

there is a booster pack available to new players - what i'm guessing from your post is it's not easily found by the casual new player - maybe a link is needed, if it's not there already ... maybe a "ask a question" link that takes you to the mentor page

The problem with the booster pack is that most of them are already gone.  These need to be replenished, imho.... That reminds me, need to get the most current link from Smiley... all of mine are used up :(

i dont know why they just dont have the boost pack as a default offer for all new players after all it wont dent their income as they are not going to get any from a new player if they dont like the game ..

True, but if i remember correctly the booster pack had a level 5 set of gear, this would possibly be updated if they entered in a new one. What I was trying to work out is something that functions similar to the potion bazaar, but for new players, up to level 100 , refreshes every so often like the potion bazaar and CAN contain gear beyond level 5 that is BOUND and explains that the tokes cannot be retrieved and they can find other things in there ie multi buff potions with low levels of them such as a TH Merch Lib AL 100

This has nothing to do with the above post.

I only just dumped my golden dragon set!

I was really hoping it would get upgrades over time after its release.

Not for me. For newbs.

I think new players having an awesome set that ONLY they can possess, and that increases with power ONLY with them (dependent upon their join date) would be pretty awesome. It would make them less envious of the players that have been here forever. Because lets be honest folks, us oldies hold all the aces right now.

Especially if it (the newbie only set) helps amplify some combat buffs. That would be interesting, would it not?

All us old players could be jealous of the newbs with the ultra set that kicks the pants out of our old combos.

The Golden Dragon set as a 3 piece is perfect. New players would want to build sets around it - creating a new market for odd sets that work with it.

I'm just spitballing here. Nothing serious.

Good-bye and hello, as always.

Thats interesting, but a curious question, would be it an all stat set or certain stats? What would happen to it if newbies wanted to use a different approach? ie armor dam vs def attack, just curious questions =)

Oh - just noticed the reply here.

Umm - good question. If it had all 5 stats and newbies could adjust its stats to reflect their alternative approaches to the game that would be cool, but would it be something you could keep changing at will, or would they be like level up points, and fixed or only capable of being reset on demand? I think it would have to be the latter or the set would be a nightmare in PvP as folk could constantly change their stats without changing their gear. Which makes the game of anticipating stats and countering them a bit more random, I would think. Unless folk think that is a great idea??

My original hasty idea would have the Golden dragon set (not in UFSG for some reason - just looked) increase its base stats as the new player increases in power, whatever they were. And then be able to magnify the effect of some combat buffs as a uber bonus to give new players some genuine advantage over older players and not feel like second class citizens. Of course that could be wildly disruptive to game balance long term... I was just throwing out the idea on impulse.

So revised impulsive idea - make it a 5 statter, and at level thresholds (say every 50 for the first 250, then scaled out wider) the player owning that set could apply points to boost each individual stat, and she could put points into as many as 5 or as few as 2 stats. No single stat craziness! Those numbers allocated would in turn effect the increased set bonus that comes each 50 levels. To reset the set - that would be an FSP buy thing I think. This would be an interesting personalised set as it stands, and I think might be an incentive to play and to level for new players.

That might be all that is needed even before we get into crazy buff enhancement ideas.

It could also be a gigantic pain in HCS's backside and so never be remotely contemplated.

Good-bye and hello, as always.

I really like the way you're going with this.  And make the set last till say, 186, when the nightmare began for those of us that remember the trepidations of Brale with just our Samaels Void sets to slay monsters with.  Well, make it 200, for a nice even number.  By then, most newer players have a couple of months under their belts, and are most likely established in a guild where the proper equipment is readily available for hunting....

And PvP is a never-ending experiment, so that would be a different kettle of fish, wouldn't it?  But a lower level being able to build monster PvP stats would be interesting, and a challenge.... Challenge can be good :P
