i just really hope that hoof does a beta run with volunteers - it will help iron out any flaws / loopholes and abuses -and can be fixed accordingly

one thing i pointed out in an earlier post that seemed to not be acknowledged  was the fact that it will be a Global Event  -so it will Not be like PvP where players hit one another a few times but instead will be like a gigantic ladder with players hitting and re-hitting everything in sight day in and day out- now mix in either big lvl ranges (or no lvl ranges) + a high global goal = chaos (and logs spammed to death) 

 

now lets add the possibility of xp loss with players getting pounded constantly for a week (or two) - FS may end up with a few new players who like pvp but for every 1 player that learned to enjoy pvp there will be 20 that will 'hate' it more than before and more than a few that will quit altogether 

 

the more that opt out - will shrink the pool of targets being hit -thus increasing the amount of times these players will be hit over and over 

If you look at the poll results, the final tally was 515 Yes, 974 No and 547 "Don't mind".

If the 515 opt in and maybe half of the don't minds, you got around 700 players which isn't too bad? dangle enough of a reward and get even more participation... but you're right... it will be a blood bath much like seasons was... than the complaints about the large stam banks will flow in ;-p

That vote was bias. People were already mad about losing lots of xp... Surely if it was implemented in it's final form and they didn't release a crap shoot it would of maybe passed.

but seasons wasnt a blood bath / only the 1st few hrs till xp loss was removed (and what is sad is Some of those smashing in the beginning KNEW something was wrong with the amount of xp being lost and went on a rampage) the next problem was targets being chosen were inactives / next was bigger players against little players - the larger players just buffed up and plowed through - yeah stam played a big part too / but in the end it was just who did all the hitting in the end to get up to the top spots

There will hopefully (almost mandatory) to have brackets, somewhat around the same as the Ladder.

If the event has a predetermined ending time (instead of random), I think people would have a great chance to prepare to defend themselves by the very end.

Us Players And Hcs too kinda need to tread carefully on how this is done 

 

if it flops for pretty much Any reason ,whether it be via too much complaining or by lack of participants -odds are another event like this will never see the light of day again 

 

now this is just My Personal Opinion but it would be better to go soft -than to go too hard 

Events of the future can always be altered , another disaster and it will be the final nail in it

The final form included no xp loss and opt in. Is that really what you want? O_O

But you are right. If they had started with that version, it would have easily passsed.

Any other event in the game sticks to the basic outline of how that area of the game is played. Every time something Pvp comes up, people want to change it. It never works. PvP is part of this game. Keep an event consistent with how pvp works in the game. Lowered xp loss, lowered cost for protection, the chance to 'opt out' using protection. That is going soft! But at least it remains in line with how pvp actually works in this game. We're not asking for a slaughter. We just want the game to remain consistent with how it approaches events for each area of the game.

Hcs needs to stop treating pvp like it is bad. The perception given by the repeated attempts to change it is exactly that. There is nothing wrong with it.

It Has Been Stated Over and Over by both Players and by HCS Staff that there is several forms of pvp 

PvP = Player vs Player -----it Is Not Limited to and only to----Player A hits Player B and the loser loses xp and gold 

 

Arena is considered pvp --- it we really wanted to stretch it -the ah can sometimes be PvP in bidding wars

I think Player vs Player in this game is fine. Some aspects of it might not be what everyone wants, but the way it works has been the same for as long as I can remember. Note I am talking about the mechanics here, not the aspects it revolves around. Not going to meddle into the other aspects since it's not the subject at hand here.

Even if people were to hit each other hourly (or whatever time frame is given in the Event), with reduced XP Loss, and even at full, it will be fine. Just like Stamina, Experience can be obtained back. If the price is right, everything will be alright.

At least you are trying to come up with a solution that works but I have to disagree with the premise that the over events follow some existing game outline? Perhaps a really watered down version. Frag and chest events... You beat up on limited  time and very weak critters. So if you consider that a leveling event, it's a really watered down version, no?

the last seasons was a pillow fight by standard pvp definition but it was fun   :D  :lol:  :)

 

Most players dont find standard pvp to be fun (usually cuz they are the 2nd P and its no fun to lose something you worked hard to get ) its only fun for the 1st P

Not always - being the 2nd pvp during a deleveling party and being online... I have to say that there is nothing more fun than that... try it :-p

 

I'm amazed as I used my so called "OP" pots and get schooled by 1k players. lol.

events in general are easy to do with very little risk of anything (i've watched players do globals without a piece of gear on) the whole idea is to reach a personal set goal and to reach a global set goal (no other time will you see players of all lvls beating up on low lvl stuff) but because this proposed event has pvp in the name And is players combating each other it must stick to the standard rules of regular pvp

Weak critters that give you lowered xp gain? Ya mean like lowered xp loss in a pvp event? It's consistent with how the game actually works.

@chewy yeah i could see that being entertaining but in the end the result is the same / on the bb u know what is coming /// i have never heard of a pvp'r messaging someone and saying im gonna hit u in 30 mins so buff up - its almost always a ambush hit
