May of 2014 GvG was next planned venue to undergo revamping according to roadmap provided by developers to show intent.  I'm guessing the road map was closed just prior to getting to it as nothing has changed, and no promising plans to improve the venue have been presented that are agreeable by community members and developers alike.

There is a massive backlog of needed remedies and fixes/changes let's hope gvg/pvp is addressed quick.

Indeed.  Although my PVP is limited to the occasional DQ, I'm still on the GvG team... Gimme targets....

People like vanilla pvp.  Two entirely different things. With now not being able to bounty ladder hits bounty board is also impacted.

There are roughly 15 active players in my range,  me, a guildmate, and 13 others.....    I'm solidly mid-level.....  If we're going to have PvP DQs, the ranges need to be expanded, at least for 2000+..  This also holds true for GvG. If or when this may happen, I just can't know, I only know it's long overdue and important to the health of the game, app or no app.

Hoofie, are you listening, kiddo?

Hearing this from lots of people is why I made this post :)

1k+ ranges really need to get reworked in PvP, GvG, and ladder ranges.  When my mid 2k mate gets a PvP quest he usually is forced to repeatedly hit same people due to such limited targets in +/- 10.  The target discrepancy seems worst in GvG, even with the extended range.  Would be cool if a tool existed that periodically adjusted PvP & GvG ranges based off active player populations.  Yeah it's that complicated because simply making a standard raise based on lvl isn't remedying the problem.  That line of thinking would suggest a increasing discrepancy exists the higher level you are; but 3k-EOC is far richer in active players then upper 1k's and all of the 2k ranges.  Regardless I've always felt the bigz needed a major range expansion.  Just thinking on the fly

And PvP is highly sociable........"leverage".

Increase the ranges HCS, I dare you, no, I double dare you.

Cheers.

Was talking about a few things and the subject came up,, there seems to be a huge gap without increase in pvp band range for the high levels and also the GvG range only goes to 700 and up leaving a large gap of players between the 1k and 3k with severe limitations to their playing these areas. Could it maybe be looked into and maybe updated to the EoC now?

I agreing bro, you speaking truth and logic and many players creating topic for same thing

but problem always there players who starting using bully card and saying you want more targets for bullying more players in pvp, you wanting more targets in gvg for bullying more targets in gvg, it always same and ending with fight, very sad

some times I leveling and not can finding target in my range

one time I had very good legendary daily quest but zero targets for doing daily quest

Younger people also have the attention span of my hyperactive dog. Squirrel! Squirrel!
How many young people you know stick with a pvp game for the long haul? Unless they can become OP and rule the game, they won’t stick around. They also love the eye candy and top notch graphics which we don’t have so good luck with that.

By now, we know our demographic and who sticks around. The strength is the social aspect and that some how needs to be leveraged.

This statement, I tend to disagree with, I'm a 19 year old who has been PvPing and GvGing since beginning of 2013, and I'm still very into this aspect of the game, although, due to lack of change, doing so much of these without any updates or changes being made to them will get boring, it will happen to anyone regardless of age, the neglect to update current systems is what makes people so tired of certain things.

People have been asking for a revamp in pvp/gvg for years now and this aspect of the game has never been touched, just a few months ago Ryebred came up with a great idea of making GvGing competitive again but nothing was done about it, if this aspect isn't changed BEFORE the app is released then I can almost guarantee that young people WILL indeed like pvp and gvg but will not stick around in FS because it won't be changed, and they will get bored of the lack of competition, or if it WILL be changed AFTER the app, even more people who will potentially stick around will then be driven away because, lets be honest, who would have the patience to start a game, take so much time to finally understand the aspect most intriguing to them, then have it all completely changed having to understand it all over again? What opinion will that leave on newcomers?

(Speaking as a NON PvPer)

I feel any changes to PvP / GvG should be made before the app is released.

This will allow the (more) experienced FS community to iron out any bugs before introducing anything radical  to a new audience.

I personally think Seasons, as it ended up should be tried again, with all the rules clearly stated.  Had it originally been introduced in it's final form I'm sure it would have been a success.

I tend to disagree with this statement ;-p

I daresay, you are more of an exception then the rule. I know a lot of youngsters and they have/would laugh at FS.

"People have been asking for a revamp in pvp/gvg for years now and this aspect of the game has never been touched"

not touched? really?

"I can almost guarantee that young people WILL indeed like pvp and gvg but will not stick around in FS because it won't be changed"

what pvp change are you suggesting?

"who would have the patience to start a game, take so much time to finally understand the aspect most intriguing to them, then have it all completely changed having to understand it all over again?"

Seems contradictory, now suggesting not changing? What exactly should change/stay the same?

I thought PVP in FS was broken. Try playing FS's New Earth game. Has everything most pro pvp people clamor for. Completely open world, no limits pvp.

I don't disagree with this.. And in order for them to be interested more than 5 minutes with the static PvP here, they're going to want some meat...

HOWEVER, in my experience, the players that stay with FS are in a much older bracket than you would think.  I'm not the only old lady here, and there are a plethora of older gentlemen as.  I find that most games have a high population of 40+ individuals.  There's a wide range of age groups playing most games that I play, but the younger ones are more prevalent on more sophisticated games.

First off, I know many other people who are my age, or close to my age and are very into pvp, I doubt I'm an exception, because, like adults, everyone has their own likings, and a game like FS isn't something everyone would like, just like you know young people who would/have laughed at FS, I know older people who did the exact same thing.

And second off, yes, PvP hasn't been touched over the years, I personally took a liking to PvP seasons, but it was then changed back to the old system since the majority of the community didn't like it, this system is now years and years old, however no effort was made to make a new change when the change that was made didn't work out, there were plenty of suggestions, best one being bringing back the old bounty and gold hitting system and keeping pvp seasons, which had very positive feedback from the community, however the decision made was to revert everything back to the original outdated system. Even increasing the +/- 10 level bracket will help to liven pvp a little bit, as well as increasing the +/- 100 level bracket in gvg, speaking of which a new GvG system idea was completely thought of by Ryebred, which received a lot of good feedback, but the HCS said they will look into it after the app is released, my point is that any changes to the pvp system, which are very much needed, MUST be released BEFORE the app is released, because if it is made after then I can guarantee it will cause many new players to give up on the game, I have played apps before, and there have been huge update changes on them just days after I started using them, and I can tell you that these changes have ALWAYS put me off the will to understand how to use the app after I just got used to the old system.

Your last statement of New Earth is completely irrelevant, as this is the Fallen Sword forum, so let's stay on topic.

With the age thing, we can agree to disagree. Just in my experience, I've seen a lot of players come and go. Just saw more youngsters go unfortunately. I've tried promoting FS to real life friends and I've stopped trying with the younger crowd because they literally laugh. lol.

So you contradict yourself a bit. Yes, FS did "touch" pvp but after that huge development investment, had to sadly undo. I'm pretty sure the negative feedback outweighed the positive feedback otherwise why reverse course especially after all the development time? Also recall that FS did implement the smasher medal and had to make changes to that as well due to the major outcry. If you don't consider other play styles, you are doomed for failure.

I'm not against rye's GVG changes. I support it as he actually listened to opposing views and implemented changes that would actually pit real GVG guilds against GVG guilds and provide minimal rewards for farmers. It's a win-win idea. Too bad no one has really come up with something for pvp. Hitting offline targets is like shooting fish in a barrel yet people find this challenging?

As someone else suggested, join the ladder... you got expanded range and actually real challenging targets. increase the level range there... no one else will complain from the non pvp side. good luck.

A smasher medal change is just an achievement change, but since I started PvPing the competition remained the same, and yes I am on the ladder, in 500 levels there are only 6 players on it, which is a terrible ratio, as I've said the whole time, my point is that any changes made must be done before the app update and they must be done, and regarding the pvp seasons, as I recall the problem wasn't with the system of pvping, it was with the bounties, I can almost guarantee that had they kept the system but left the bounties as the current system is then most of the people who opposed it will revert their opinion.

The changes to the game over time have really catered to anti-PvP players.  When I started I believe there was no limit to level loss on bb, this changed to current 5 levels after players learned to use this mechanic with extreme efficiency.  I guess these players are the PvPers/bullies, whatever.  At around the same time a system of universal exp loss was created as a low lvl player for example a 125, could just about take 5 by themselves against players much higher in level, and in return to take 5 from the low level PvP specialist it would require upwards of 10-15 people of those higher levels to take 5 from them.  Now we have a standard 2% loss on 10 stam bounty hit, 20% on 100 stam regardless of level difference.  Why is the last point included in catering to non PvP players, because again creative players/PvPers/bullies learned to use this mechanic with extreme efficiency and the change was implemented because anti PvP players were falling victim to tactic, and complaining that it was unfair.  I actually agree with that change 100%.  Then there was this loophole on bb where bounties were issued on actual contact - again the creativity of PvP players/bullies learned to use this mechanic to their advantage by posting, smashing, clearing, and posting again after ensuing hit - resulting in 2 for one, sometimes more if they could defend long enough.  Now bounty board hits do generate bounty on the hunter, but it is not based on contact, rather auto generated upon pushing the accept bounty  button.  These are items most non PvP players would assume are changes to PvP, and not catering to them but all those changes were made to restrict the potential damage of any player(s) towards another.  In addition to those -PvP protection was made available; leveling was made way easier through buffs introduced, exp events, and potions that would be unfathomable nearer to induction of game.  All in all so many changes were made to dull the effectiveness of PvP/bullying.  Deleveling is used more now as a contributed exp gaining tool then anything, and most bullying that occurs is old hardcore levelers bored at EOC smashing on (in large part) smaller PvP players who are on the bb - for some who pathetically live in fear of lost pixels only right before a exp event in case they are held accountable.  So PvPers making the most of the mechanics = bullying, but now that it's guild exp tool, and serving the opposing mindset it's all good, and no amount of outcry from the PvP community that has endured all these changes would change anything.  Point of all that is to tell people to get off the "can't expand ranges due to bullies" bandwagon, as it's no longer relevant.  Merely a broken record from nearly a decade ago playing over and over yet for nothing as it is nearly non-existent.

The ladder has nothing to do with "normal" PvP.  It's a slugfest, and unless you have the time and real life cash to regain inevitable lost levels, not for the casual PvPer or the light-hearted.  I got my medals and got out years ago.... Give me the original PvP system..... New ranges or not, it was more fun and rewarding.
