Set 1) 9/10
I love the interesting concept of the doomsday before New Year's and the way "the countdown" was for the end rather than the new beginning. For a piece that had 2 weeks to complete, there are some flaws though. The comet blast or whatever that light is in the window actually smudges into the room/window in the middle so perhaps it was a layer ordering issue? The blast effects in the background are nicely done but there's a part on the left side that has fire in the smoke that suddenly has a black block. Sort of looks like part of the smoke effects were accidentally erased. The robotic girl's head is also rather sharp and could have used some blending IMO. The grainy wall in the background might be making it appear that way though.
Not really an error per-say but I would have loved to see the Times Square stock changed up a bit to match the Futuristic theme. Perhaps change all the lighting to neon or something we all find synonymous with the future. Despite the slight errors, I still love the concept so I'm marking this high. Would even love to have the avatar lol.
Set 2) 5/10
I'm marking this one in the middle because it meets the New Years theme but I honestly don't see much in terms of the futuristic aspect. I really have no clue what the concept of this was going for. What do the lightpoles have to do with the future or the robot? The hair of the robot looks fuzzy and could have used some blending as well. TBH this looks like a postcard you'd receive from a vacationing family in the future lol.
It doesn't look like 2 weeks worth of work was put into it the piece.
Set 3) 1/10
I'm sorry but for being in the finals, it doesn't look like much thought or work was put into this one. For having 2 weeks, I would expect a lot more work and a better concept. As others have stated, nothing here really says future other than the horse. Everything is rather blurry and not blended well as if you had no time to work on anything. Hoping the holiday season got in the way with your time because that would make this piece understandable.
Sorry for being the Scrooge of the holiday season. Judging harshly because of the 2 week period to work on the pieces, even though it is the holidays. There should have been enough days to pull out some solid works.
