A poor crafted item gives 900 attack 200 defense
Excellent crafted gives 1000 attack 300 defense
and perfect crafted gives 1500 attack.
(Just an example)
Lots of fsp down the drain to get that single stat advantage

that is a really creative suggestion The concept of ancient is more like to knowledge than physical force imo, so it would fit pretty wellthey can have no stats at all, but give a permanent buff while equipped.

Hey HC's look what Mr jonah said ! this is great idea
Permanent /100% active buff or Enhancement
Even item with single arena move.. for example "Spin attack" weapon with 0 stats but gives bonus as "Spin attack" move
that would make these new type of items useful and not too overpowered

Interesting. Like for example a Learning Helmet that isn't part of a set, has terrible stats but gives the wearer 10% more XP. Power levelers would change what equipment they use in order to take advantage of it (they could not use Icy Santork, Yojimbos or many other good sets for example) which would generate churn in Guild gear inventories and alter the value of a lot of equipment. Or a gold-stealing enhancement tied to a otherwise-terrible non-set weapon -- shake up the thieving gears used a little.they can have no stats at all, but give a permanent buff while equipped.
Obviously, tieing a particular buff to a single gear location might be a good idea.

Very cool idea
What buffs do you think would work best (and at what level?)
Do you think one permanent buff (while equipped) with no stats would be enough?

I would say yes if the piece of gear was to be labeled as set gear, that way you can still get coord attack/defense bonus.

I think this would be cool if added to epic items. They have little value other then stam gain anymore and this definitely would be cool and bring back some of the Epicness to them.

I think using some of the Epic items in the recipes for the Ancient items would work.

If they made new items with stam gain and a permanent buff or character enhancement then yes that would be great.

You need to make it good enough to make the item worth it, but not extremely overpowered.
Things that increase XP can be a good option.
An item that gives AL 300 or Lib 300 would be very useful to many players except those that use higher level potions.
An item that gives Stalker 250 would be fun for anyone, but only the rich people would get the item for the little bit of XP it gives over Stalker 175.
Items that give stat increasing buffs can be useful, but are easily overpowered.
Yet they have to be somewhat powerful because wearing this item with no stats of its own will leave the player with only 8 items that give stats (and level up points); so it's basically a loss of 10% in stats.
DC 225 comes in potions and is already very powerful so I wouldn't go with anything that increases attack (defense is quite worthless already).
An item that gives Terrorize 300 or Sanctuary 300 would be nice for a lot of players, without being overpowered.
An item that gives Constitution 350, Coordinated Defense 300 or Flinch 300 would be nice too.
Berserk 500, Fury 500, DD 500, SH 200 or Coordinated Attack 300 will be useful, but the game already has lots of damage increasing buffs.
Buffs with some sort of special defense could be useful too.
Force Shield, Stun, Shockwave, Last Ditch, Absorb, etc. all help to keep a player alive. An item that has one or two of these at a slightly higher level than what regular buffs/potions can give would be nice.
Basically any buff would be good as long as:
[*:1q8de6ls]It is a popular buff (as in regularly used by people).
[*:1q8de6ls]The level of the buff is higher than what common/cheap potions can give.
[*:1q8de6ls]The level of the buff is not overpowered.

How about a small buff, that can be stacked with casted buffs?

If it's going to be a stam gain item with a permanent buff but no stats then the buff should be useful for offline use.If they made new items with stam gain and a permanent buff or character enhancement then yes that would be great.I think using some of the Epic items in the recipes for the Ancient items would work.

So things like AL, Lib, DD, SSi, etc. are not very useful, while buffs like Force Shield, Stun, Last Ditch, Keen Edge, Constitution, etc. are much more useful.

Like +50 levels on Sanctuary. So if you don't have the buff cast then it's at level 50 and if you get a level 175 Sanctuary cast on you then it turns into level 225?

An Ancient item would be a disposable item (much like crystalline), have no stats of its own, require existing Epics to create and provide a player with a permanent buff. (while the piece is worn)
Are people actually thinking this is a good idea?
Edit: Unless this thing rolls out with a Deflect 1000 I can't see it being very popular.

We just need to be a little more careful with the buffs that are being chosen.
For example, if we use some big potions (like the Terrorize 750 Toffee Apple) then people might become pretty much invincible. The Terrorize 750 potion can turn into level 863 with Distil 150. Even a simple +50 makes a lot of difference. Terrorize 913 will reduce the opponent's damage to 8.7% of its original value. That means a player can get some armor and the opponent needs to get more than 11.5 times as much damage to defeat it, or more than 5.75 times as much damage and hope for Piercing Strike or Critical Hit to activate.
But if the buffs on the items are chosen with care and sense then it could work. 8)
