On another thread we talked about the ladder. There I was in favour of old tokens being used for new items, new potions, to buy extra duration to prestige, or perhaps to buy the ability to use prestige in chunks. Also the idea of highly useful low durability crystal items that would sell, be broken and need to be remade/bought with ladder tokens. Ladder tokens to extend prestige duration is a huge incentive to players I think.

I felt that introducing a new token system for a revamped ladder might be simply too much work for HCS to want to do. (a new 2 tier token system? Do the old tokens get earned alongside the new ones, and only count towards the old rewards? How is it worked and given roadmap slowness do we think adding a complex project is going to speed up the fix any?)

Keeping the old tokens is the simplest way forward. I still think this.

Yes this means that folk sitting on piles of tokens might make a killing. That is not their fault.

The fault is HCS's for not fixing the broken ladder fast enough - its failings have been discussed for a very long time.

So is it bad apples, or is it the devs? A bit of both perhaps. Sorry devs.

I think revamp the ladder, introduce new rewards, suck up the fact that old tokens easily earned will be used for profit - even if those tokens were gained rather than earned - those players stayed on the ladder when others did not bother.

Bound vs. unbound. I think old tokens will be burned faster if unbound, I think the community is not so large that bound items will be a huge draw. I think selling into the wider community would work.

The new token idea is me assuming there will be new gear.  Here is how I would see it working; both types of tokens would be viable currency for the bound potions - only tokens earned at start of ladder update would be the new ones.  The only tokens one would be able to make the new gear out of (unbound) would be the new tokens -which would be released parallel to that of the update introducing these bound pots & new gear.  Seems like a middle ground to me - makes the old tokens retain some value - but if you want the new digs - you need to play or pay what would be a high cost given there isn't tens of thousands already in circulation.  I know many will still hate this - but it's better then the idea of simply taking away everything earned in the past based on the ideal it was on soft ladders undeserving reward period.  Can't please everyone - just put something fair out there & move forward.  Those with big token banks should have no problem getting more post update.

That seems reasonable - IF HCS are prepared to add complexity to their ladder reward system.

How useful will old tokens be if limited to old items? Really? Would you consider an exchange rate that is extortionately high to convert old to new, or would that still be to much of a reward for playing the old broken ladders?

This does mean that eventually the old tokens will run dry, if they are no longer earned - which means the old items will be phased from the game as a result. Is that a problem?

You are right that those on the ladder currently will probably still do very well on any upgraded and revamped ladder.

Or what HCS can do is make set the price of every new piece of gear or potion to 1 token. That way people who took advantage of the broken ladder system will not make any profit and pretty much anyone who opts into the ladder once or twice can get the items for a 2 piece gear set, and they can get what ever potion(s) they want and arena tokens are still being used so no need for a new type of token. Heck, make every reward in the ladder worth 1 token.

You keep talking about those abusing players... May i ask, if a player solo secure a Titan that nobody is hunting... is that abusing? Now the way it looks, you seem to be angry cuz you have not manage to get tokens by yourself. If you want to upgrade this game and think in something for the good of the game, instead of punish others who try to keep pvp alive then think it twice buddy the idea is to bring more players, not to make the few ones leave.

Lmao, that is probably the worst comparison you could have made. You can't compare ladder to titan hunting, they're not even in the same ballpark. Me angry? Please don't make me laugh. I have plenty of tokens that I had to earn when the ladder was active. What pushed players away from the ladder is those tools who would bounty every ladder hit you did on them because they wanted the free tokens and medal progress, and a majority of token hoarders are those players (but not all of them). My idea was only to punish those who got hoards of tokens because they bountied people to not participate in the ladder anymore. So by allowing those token hoarders to control the market when new things are released will hurt not only pvp, but the game. You need to think before you speak, since you seem pretty clueless.
