Oh they were axes. I'm more of a sword kind of girl.
I like the skulls but the background is still to plain. Maybe a battlefield type background?

As much as I like elves, this type isn't one of them. (Not fond of overly pointed version of elf ears and don't like the blank eyes).

IMO, The dragon render is waaaaay overused. I'm going to pass.
As for CnC, you're getting better. Keep in mind that most people like the text to be easily read.
Also, check out the topics that many accomplished avatar makers have created on the forums about different techniques that may help you.
Above all else, never give up.
