the only good i can see of this feature would be to give mentor/noobie - karma stuff its own page and put this chat feature there.

I think this have the potential of killing of Fsbox. also there should be a way to prevent players from spamming the chat, i hate spams.
The prevention of spam could/should also be a way to keep advertisements out of the chat and kept in the FSBox. Chat isn't cluttered, and FSBox doesn't die. Ideally, anyway.

a world chat similar to the one on SS2 is not a bad idea, as long as we can make it small and stick it in a corner so as it not to be in the way when doing other things, and also as long as we can disable it when not wanting to participate in the chat..
bring it on
as for private chats that is seen mentioned, no point, if people want to talk privately, then send pm's..no need to make a separate chat for that

We could add the chat as a separate page, but add an option so you can also be able to view it below the map as well?
That would work, then those who want it there on the map have it, and those who prefer it not be on the map are happy too.

Were it to be implemented there would have to be very strict rules and penalties for infractions.

I like the idea of communicating with others in a chat, but I'll stick to skype. ( cows don't read what is said there )
For others tho, I do hope there will be mods or ways to avoid the * not so friendly players*

Devalues the FS Box
would get massive spammed
would need constant moderation that i am not convinced it would get.
would lag the game massively if it is on the map screen plus putting it under the map screen restricts how much room it has and anyone that has seen a world chat knows they can move rather fast so in that case would be impossible to read.
activate it for Dev chats and only Dev chats, at least at first. maybe use it as a starting point but personally i dont like the idea for all the time

Hi all,
We're just looking for your thoughts on us adding chat to the game. The idea would be to have it under the map and allow you to talk to all other online players. We could also do cool things like highlight chat messages from other players in your guild.
So basically, is this something you would like to see added to the game?
I've long felt that some form of extended chat beyond guild chat was sorely needed. Here's how I would address it:
1) Leave FSBox alone, and identify it as the only acceptable in-game place for commercial posts. You want to sell buffs, announce gear sales, try to find buyers for your hand-farmed blood blooms? That's the place to do it. Any other messages could also be posted there, if someone wants to pay the fee, provided that the message meets the normal standards for FSBox.
2) Allow guilds to form "alliances" (as many of them already do). Allied guilds would share their guild chat. Their respective guild leader chats would remain private.
The only way a "world chat" would work is if you can afford to have a dedicated staff member monitor it 24/7 (something I doubt you can). The volume of trouble tickets you can expect to be generated would completely overwhelm your customer service staff. I like it conceptually, but feel it is impractical.
