If you want to encourage PvP, reduce the amount of XP lost. It normally takes 2700 or more stamina to gain one level, but a PvPer can use ten 100 stamina attacks to eliminate that level. So it is no surprise that levelers hate being attacked by PvPers.

Reduce the amount of XP lost in PvP to 1/10th of what it is now (both on and off the BB) and then levelers will not hate PvP (and PvPers) as much. And why not ? What good does it do the game to make it so easy for a PvPer to eliminate all the fruits of a leveler's investments so easily ? What good does it do the game to make it so easy for players to bully each other ? What successful MMO makes it so easy for a player to ruin another player's enjoyment of the game ?

And leave protection the way it is. It is expensive so it should be worth having.



this is how i had always felt, so much damage can be done,

people log on to have FUN, if you care about xp what is fun about losing it to some who could care less about your xp and is probably grinning at the 'i was victorious msg',

after reading this post i had a glimpse into what maehdros has been saying, if xp loss was tamed or removed would the RISK thats gone kill the fun in the place where u dont realise it is,

personally im conflicted on the topic, either way i see fun being removed whatever the outcome.

I cant agree more this should not be implemented i pay the price to be protected from xp loss from PvP and the gold protection and don't mind, but if i am forced to put up with pvp and gold loss i will leave this game .


You didn't leave the game before this change was brought in, why would you leave it now? Or is this just another massive overreaction?

From reading through the replies on here I'm glad some of you aren't in charge of this game. There is always going to be a divide between those who PvP and those who don't but it seems the PvPers have a much better understanding of both playing fields because they do both.

PvP was ruined for me when the cows introduced the ability to bounty every hit, put a 48 hour time limit on bounties and changed the smasher medal to reflect ladder and bounty hits only. I voted yes because this is a small change in the right direction. Those who PvP have sacrificed much of their game already becasue of ill thought out changes. Anything that reverses even one of them is a good thing.

I buy pvp protection to protect my xp and my gold. If i wanted to protect my xp I would buy protect xp after each hunt costing me 50 fsp per month and risk loosing xp gained via epics during regain time.

Some of us pay the price to protect both and some just buy pvp protection to protect there gold and some just buy it as we are not interested in pvp. Some just pay the price so they don't have to deal with the bulling that comes with pvp as it tends to bring out the worst in people & guilds.

Shouldn't it be our choice if we want to be involved with pvp. We shouldn't be forced into pvp. Some choose pvp, leveling, inventing, titan hunting, SE hunting & guild conflicts. There are different aspects to this game if there is not enough activity in pvp does that mean people are paying lots of fsp for pvp protection or just not holding the gold they used to hold or just not interested in pvp.

Do you need to be reminded of what happened when you brought in the guild conflicts & pvp ladder you lost a lot of peace loving players and this change will force you to loose more and most of these players donate. I honestly don't want see more players leave or be one that does leave.

With these changes will come Potions, buffs and other items all sold for fsp rather then gold as players can't protect there earnings from players who would attack them for it.

If this is a way to boost the bounty board as a gold sink there are other ways. Need ideas message me.

I totally agree and I also agree with someone at the first page of this thread saying that thge counter bounty should be removed, I have lost twice 5 levels just for bountying a PvPer attacking me and then his whole guild decided to take on the counter bounty with 100 stam hits. I like to play this game as a leveler, I am enjoying it actually but I get pee'd off with these enormous xp losses everytime some w* decides to pvp me because i have some gold coins in my pocket. Want to keep the game happy then cater for everyone, not just a few who - as yet another person said - turn into bullies very quickly. Hoof, you have lost many good people purchasing points trying to cater for the wrong audience - LISTEN to your other then PVP players please!

Where have you been recently? Many of the changes have been for levellers, why do you think this thread has been raised to undo one of them?

Those who PvP are a minority in this game now but why should we go without just becasue we are smaller in numbers? The polls always go in favour of those who hate PvP becasue there is more of them to vote.

We that PvP deserve to get enjoyment out of this game as well. If you don't want to lose gold don't make yourself a target. With regards to the BB, it would be a very dull place if you couldn't counter bounty. Guild wars rely on the ability to do that for a start.

I am a leveller and have been here for ages. This topic arises now and then and the premise seems to be wrong. The Cows want pvp to be a part of the game, yet many of us really despise it and will pay dearly to be kept out of it.

This game can only have pvp as an important part of it if levellers accept it. So far I have not seen anything that would make me accept it. I have worked hard to gain my xp and why should I run the risk of loosing it in a mugging? The potential cost for me is simply too great.

Perhaps it would be viable if you lower the xp lost on every hit but I am not sure. As for the question you have posed I have not answered it because I really don't care. You can tweak this all you want but the bottom line is that a lot of us are here that do not want to risk loosing our precious xp.

an that is the reason behind this being only protecting the XP of said target. there is how many ways to to avoid being hit for gold? how was it prior to the pvp protection being brought into the game?


I think "Big Brother" (the guild) should get more involved with protecting their Anti- PvPer members.

If you think about it, the weapon is used by the aggressor and the shield is used by the defender


and that there is another issue alot of guilds don't, their own guilds turn a blind eye to it. an from there they lose any faith in getting help in that fashion. early into my time playing I was pure non-pvp'er an got hit up alot of times an I tried thru my guild I was part of at the time to get help an got nothing so I lost faith in the ' parties '. much later on got into one that does stand behind their non-pvp'ers an did parties when it warranted them. there were times it was a justified action on said person in the guild and no return parties were done.

there are still players an I think even at high lvl's that still post their attacker over min 10stam hit, deflected, no xp/ gold loss and even failed attacks. in which all of those either non-pvp'er loses very little or no xp/ gold and they want to have the attacker lose 5lvl's over it.

either way this bit is gonna cause players to leave there is no middle ground cause one side will not even try to meet in the middle to work things out, it is just wanting to be all one sided an not give up anything but expect everything be sided with them.

how do you think the BB went to being able to post every attack made off the BB to be able to be posted but the staff left the max lvl's to be lost at 5lvl's not what they were talking about doing of dropping it to max of 2lvl's due to that change? what side brought that on? shouldn't be hard to figure that one out.

Great idea no reason 1 upgrade should protect both. If you want both pay for both.


I would vote yes *if* this were the option.



Yea that's my bad wasn't paying complete attention when I read it

I thought it had suggested to have two seperate protections.

Having two seperate ones would just make sense. If you want both it's more expensive (from what it currently is) and if you really want one or the other you can get it

Less people will buy both (because it should be price prohibitive). But the extra cost for people that do could offset (fsp) "income" gor the cows or gold sunk

Simple truth, most of us that play FS, play other MMO's as well! The one thing that most of them have in common, PVE and PVP servers. I have no choice in FS if somebody wants to HIT me then they can. I am being real honest when I say this, I come real close to quitting this game around level 200 because of PVP. Just look at players bios that no longer play and could not tell you how many say the same thing I quit basically because of PVP.

Another idea I read early in the post that I liked is hiding the currant gold held.
That way the PvPers have to actually risk not getting anything from a hit and still getting bountyed



Hidden coffer :) Hides gold on hand and in a players bank. Also, players already risk not getting anything from a hit via Deflect and Protect gold ( enhancement which = 0 gold stolen during pvp combat)

+1 altho I am just level 141.......... I had that same reaction @ lvl 75 when i was getting hit almost daily... I'd regain my lost lvl's and then log in the next day only to find some "A whole" De-Leveled me again.

I for 1 am opposed to PvP. I keep reading that if someone wants protection let them pay for it. Ok. And I have paid for it many times over. It seems that whoever yells the loudest seems to get their way in this issue. Let the PvPers pay to PvP and allow those of us that want to stay away from it protect from it. What is PvP anyway? It's nothing more than a mugging. If you are mugged on the street you report it to the authorities. Yet here the "Authorities" promote the whole idea.

First of all, a leveller stand absolute no chance againsy a PvPer, ever seen a hunting set with enough attack to cut through the defense of a PvP set? It never exists.
A leveller isn't prepared for PvP at all, the attacker always win, because they have the defense to evade all attacks.

Forcing levellers and Potion Makers into PvP? Whats the point? If a person is selling potion, he spent heck load of gold and fsp to buy the ingredients, invents at the risk of failing, sold the Potion only for the profit to be stole? Or it even ends in a negative "profit". A person spend his stamina to hunt, ending up with no gold to use for his Gold Upgrade? Are you kidding??

So HCS is suggesting that we shouldn't work at all and just go on to the street and mug those who worked?

By now, 40% of players voted no, make this change at the risk of losing 40% of players including the Potion Makers who helped so much in buffs.

I voted yes but I must say that over time I have begun to understand and see just how it is pure levelers see this game, 1. They get hit and have 3 options, ignore it (which typically will result in them getting hit more often (look at the BB sometimes and you will see a player that has hit 6,7,8 and even more times) 2. Bounty, which will also result in them being hit multiple times 3. Have a delvl party which will result in their guildmates losing levels. I can say in the past this was never the case but alas honorable and old time PvP are gone, now we are stuck with this. Many will say a PM was sent that was harassing the attacker, or something was said about such and such, its all just a reason to hit someone. To be honest PvP died in this game as a result of the PvPers being too good at what they did.

I can remember the guilds that you knew would take levels if you hit one of their members, Czech Knights would take 5 for a 10 stam and that always made me ensure that the gold hit I was going to do was worth it. TED used to always take levels and people learned to respect them, Scions of Might, The Highwaymen, Resurrection, Evolutions, Fire Guardians, Helping Hands and the list is many more of those that would defend their members. Today someone defending their members almost always means instant war or the the threat of war. This dishonorable tactic is a big part of what killed PvP, no one can take their licks and move on, no one takes into account how these types of actions have affected all PvPers, it drove the casual PvPer away and many of those that once truly enjoyed PvP in this game, myself included. I have stomped many a player for gold, my guild or in times of defending a friend, but never simply to cause harm. MY PvP died a long time ago and this change will not bring that back, that requires that players respect each other regardless of guild affiliation or who they are, sadly I close with a tear and a goodbye to my beloved PvP. You made this game great and have been hijacked by those who show no mercy nor respect.

Anytime a change is proposed, it usually affects several different groups. Naturally, the levelers in this case, but also the potion makers with this change. Most list multiple auctions while offline, and use pvp / GOLD protection to do so. If this change is implemented, we will see a substantial decrease in AH potions. Do we want that?

Make two separate upgrades, one xp, one gold, with both as a gold upgrade option. Make the combined cost more than it currently is, but not considerably higher. By separating, let's see which protection players actually want to have, maybe one, maybe both. Let the players decide that by their upgrade purchases.

Decrease the amount of XP stolen in a PvP attack, why should it matter to the PvPer how much XP I lose?

I see mention of gold sinks... Increase the amount of Gold that is sunk in a PvP attack. Not sure what the percentage is, but make a larger portion truly be sunk, rather than going to the attacker. The attacker gets a smaller percentage, a larger percentage disappears from the game.

I have to laugh at the "true PvP" comments, what is "true" about kitten smashing while someone is offline wearing stamina gain gear? You want true pvp, make it turn based. You attack someone, they have X amount of hours (say 24) to log in and make a counter attack.

Bountying and attacking back is not an option for those wanting to stay out of the PvP aspect.

-1 to the proposed change.

We're approaching 50 - 50 on the voting. It would be interesting if the "electorate" was a little bit better informed though. What IS the proportion of PVP active players in the game? Or even, how many pvp hits are done on an average day? I would assume that the cows are privy to this information. I've said before, there are some pretty sharp and creative people out there as well as in HCS. These folk would love to make the game better, but they do need a bit of data, other then "lots".

Depends what your goal is though. Is your goal more pvp hits in general? or just to appease pvpers to a point?
