Now let's reverse the tables momentarily, what if it was the other person that had the gold to BUY something and you ROBBED them. Would you GIVE them back the gold you stole?
I already know the answer, NO!
So put a sock in it. Yes, it is an inconvience to loose gold to a mugging, but hey, you'd do the same thing if you had a chance.
I think it's funny when people make threats to make someones gaming experience miserable over a few bits of shiny trinkets that they can easily replace with a little effort. They'd rather waste their and others time and APs chasing someone around the game on petty revenge. But that's what makes the game fun.

As a recent newb, I don't mind that there is such a thing as stealing from other players, I just would have liked to have known about it before I had 2671gp (I think) stolen from me, which was over two thirds of what I was carrying. I would have been roaming the tutorial area with a lot more care if I'd known about this beforehand.
Nowhere did I see in the beginner's guide or tutorial a passage saying that there was such a thing as stealing from other players. Would be nice to have some kind of forewarning.

Is being robbed fun.. NO.. but hey. It happens... I have been a mass Plunder of many pockets. but what goes around comes around.
3 tiles away from bank with 20K, and out of AP's... I have anti-theft, and theft-retal. someone hit, me First shot for 12K. POP! OUCH! but did I run to the boards mad.. NO! I just sucked it up and drove on... It was my day, this time. and it will be theirs another..

I can't believe people are actually complaining about losing a couple hundred gp. You can find that laying around just about any realm.

that was my thoughts excatly, i don't take my money to the bank inless i have 10k or better, now i did decided that the anti-theft skill was a must need and helps alot, but still with things our there that cost anywhere from 500,000 gp to a few mil gp these are small amounts of gp

moral of the story is I should not have been greedy and attacked 2 ogres I should have gone str8 to the bank.

The exchange had not been created yet.
USP's went for about 30k gp, not millions.
And I'd kill any thief I could, that was on the list I kept.
I don't keep a list anymore - but I still think thievery in this game is fundamentally broken. There's no real risk involved for the thieves - except a little inconvenience of getting killed - maybe...
I won't get into the semantics of it here - but the point is, people were upset about the amounts, because that much gold was worth more back then.
So, bear that in mind when reading the old posts.
