Group 1:

A. too blended & artist's name on it 5/10

B. pretty good, white border could be smaller 8/10

Group 2:

A. good idea, over sharpened 7/10

B. not blended well, text wrong place 5/10

Group 3:

A. the orange is out of place, animated snow a + 8/10

B. Jack frost again? still good work tho 8/10

Group 4:

A. jack frost again? .... good work tho nice border 7/10

B. not sure about the vectors in the background? 6/10

Group 5:

A. the blue coloring gives impression of winter 6/10

B. jack frost again (4x's) nicely done but peppermints? 8/10

Group 1
A: 5/10 tag is too bright, text placement isnt good
B: 7/10 bit simple

Group 2
A: 4.5/10 nice idea, but something's missing
B: 3/10 Get photoshop or gimp, download some psd packs and read some tutorials. This piece have lack of graphic making knowledge like blending, lighting, etc. Not to mention the text

Group 3
A: 5.8/10 Nice but only because its snowing doesnt make it an awesome graphic work. It haves a nice feeling btw
B: 8.5/10 Very creative one. I like the contrast colours and the ice effect

Group 4
A: 9/10 Other good piece, BG totally matches the render
B: 7/10 Nice one, but it doesn't have winter feeling to it. Maybe because its too sunny

Group 5
A: 4/10 This one is more "night/dark/fantasy" than winter themed. Also render picked could be better
B: 6.5/10 Hmmm, not bad but even the render being something related to winter I dont see much work on BG to match it with the theme

I seriously hope no one starts depressing stuff like "meh I suck" after this first round. Instead, go and try to learn something with psd packs or signature tutorials on deviantart. And of course, or photoshop or gimp! no free graphic edditing sites

A good job by everyone:

Group 1

A: 7/10, it's nicely done, but I don't like the lines in the background
B: 7/10, don't like the white border and the text could be clearer, but it's overall feel and blending is really good

Group 2

A: 8/10, it's a little over-sharpened, but I love the snow effects.
B: 5/10, this was a cute idea and different, but it needs more to be done with it, especially more blending

Group 3

A: 5/10, very interesting, but I think there's too much dead space in it, and I don't see the connection between the text and the piece. Very nice animated snow
B: 7/10, it's a little too saturated and sharp for my taste, but I like the composition and colors

Group 4

A: 7/10, nicely done, but the text needs to be clearer
B: 7/10, too sharp, and it needs a border, but the effects and background are really neat

Group 5

A: 8/10, this is different, and simplistically beautiful. Unfortunately there isn't a clear connection to the winter theme beyond the text.
B: 7/10, a little too washed out for my taste but the composition is good

A: 4/10 - Too bright, text is barely visible, and poor render placement.
B: 9/10 - Nice blending. Deducted 1 point for the blue soft brushing at the bottom, would like to have seen it be a little brighter or set to screen maybe.

Group 2
A: 6/10 - Too big, way oversharpened and does not blend well.
B: 3/10 - Looks like a stock with a texture on top.

Group 3
A: 6/10 - Not sure how it relates to winter, apart from the snow. Maybe if it was a bit blue.
B: 8/10 - Nice text, and blending.

Group 4
A: 9/10 - Winter theme is good, a bit too much snow and the sub text is a bit too small.
B: 8/10 - A bit too much topaz/similar effect, nice vectors and flow.

Group 5
A: 7/10 - Not sure how it relates to winter, other than the text. Has nice blending and nice effects.
B: 5/10 - Way too bright on the right, pepper mints in the background?? Text is bad and render is centered.

+1 for Kayesha voting. She is a honest person.... even if she had know who made what, she would NOT have biased her vote. ( and no I'm not sucking up.... I knew mine was crap when I submitted it but, it was the best I could do.)
