*Everyone looks upon the post and sighs as it's something they have all heard before.  Sighing in disbelief, a feeling of disappointment rushes over their body as they realize"Here we go again."*

9 years I have played this game.  That is 3,285 days of joy, frustration, anger, envy and any other emotion that you can imagine.  Content has never been consistent in this game, and I let it slide.  Post's get deleted sometimes, but I brushed it off.  Mods sometimes take feedback personally and react irrationally, it happens.  All of things add up to what makes this game so special.  But there comes a time when something needs to be done.  Whatever that thing is, COMMUNICATION is key.

We've had legendary events which are cool for a bit.  We've had global events fairly regularly, awesome.  One thing that I do not understand is why we haven't had content updates for those of us who enjoy leveling?  We had 25 levels of content on April 29th, 2016.  Then on June 30th, 2016 (Double XP weekend), we had 100 levels the first day, then a surprise 50 levels the next (which I promised myself I would not get into).  It's September 16th today which means that in approximately 5 months of life, we've received 175 levels of content.

You have nearly 170 players that are considered EoC.  1 years ago that number was ~50.  What this shows me is that content is not coming out fast enough and that as every day goes by, you are going to have more EoC people sitting at the top losing interest because why would they want to play a game that releases content twice a year?  At this rate, by the end of the year you're going to have people who are EoC who aren't even in the top 250.  Does that seem right?  You have well over 100 players who are actually 5 to 40 levels above EoC...but I digress.

You need to do better if you want to compete with other browser games.  Take this as an insult, take this as constructive criticism...up to you.  You are lucky that a remaining players in FS feel connected to the community...I know that is why I'm still around.  Thank you for your time.

Yeah I was starting to wonder if we'd been secretly capped at 3k.

Not that I'd really mind if they did to be honest...

I have sank a lot of time and money into the game and am thoroughly bored. I couldn't wait to work my way to EOC. What a big mistake. I've started playing other games since there is nothing to do here. I'm a leveler at heart.

Hooftest hasn't been online for 3 days, which is not that bad.  But the fact that hooftest is only level 2977 speaks volumes to the lack of attention.  That means hooftest is 123 levels below content.  It just shows me, (maybe I'm an exception), that hooftest didn't actually go through some of the new content.  How can we take it seriously when Devs say they are working hard to keep the game updated.  Again, not meaning to come across as whiney...more along the lines of fed up.

I, too, am a leveler at heart.

Have been from the day I made my account, I never even knew there was PvP in this game until I got hit the first time. . If you want to call it PvP, I call it canned hunting. Toss the target into the cage and take aim.

I've been chided more than a few times for not doing this, or that or something else.

I'm slow to level, slow to compose, slow to try other aspects of the game.  I call it the scenic route, because I'm not in a hurry to get to the top where I might be tempted to growl about not getting content, or quests or any number of other things like others do.

I guess, maybe Hoof should keep going on what he's doing.

BigGrim, can drop getting the Christmas events and stuff ready and concentrate on quests and more levels. Can also work harder on the epic quest arc.

Let the LE events, the SE events, the crystal events and other events slide till there are more quests and levels to climb.

Heaven forbid, it's not like they don't have anything to do with their time.

Oh yeah, they can put their nose to the grindstone and forgo showing up here too.  Everyone will know they are hard at work on the things the player base wants to see more of and see it now.

Right?

Trolling posts may now start.

I'm not saying they have to drop everything and make content.  You misunderstand me, but thanks for the sarcasm.  It's been stated that Hoof is coming back to FS.  It's been stated that BG is working on the epic quest line that was promised in 2010.  Why not release content AND continue work on the Christmas events and whatever?  What a thought...numerous projects at once.  If it's an issue with staffing...hire more people DELEGATE staff appropriately.  I'm not sure if you know this, but Fallensword is HCS's highest grossing game which means it's where they get their cash.  I'm baffled as to why more resources aren't designated to this game.

Are you saying HCS is too busy to release content more than twice a year?  Even with a small team, the expectations of them aren't that high is regards to FS.  Tell me I'm making assumptions, that's fine.  But before you jump to protect HCS, empathize with the levelers and look at the numbers.  The shocking amount of new players to EoC should be proof enough that content is not coming out fast enough.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they need to communicate with their player base.  I still really have no idea what they are working on.

Hoof is working on the second app so it can be released as well as more DQs and I think there was something else he's working on too, but no one is saying what that is.

Big Grim keeps the events rolling out, working on level and quest release as well working on the seasonal stuff.

I think that's called multi tasking.  lol

Now I don't know how many coders there are working because no one thinks I'm that important in the big picture that makes up FS, so I've not been told that.

You're welcome about the sarcasm but, please, there is also some truth in my post.

Most everyone has something they want and want it now.  I've noticed that patience is not in big supply here.

I think some of the things are supposed to be surprises, and by nature would not be a surprise if they told about it.

The good thing about the FS community is that even if you don't feel like you are important in the big picture, you are because the players genuinely care.  There is a reason I've played this game since 2007 and it's because it's unique in a lot of ways, but sometimes the Devs just need a reminder that there are still paying customers and that steps should be taken to make the game better.

I love the addition of the daily quests and I love when there are new legendary critters for me to smash.  What I don't love is when something as important as leveling content is overlooked.  There is a lot to this game, and there are a lot of levelers.

There is a lot of information in the posts scattered through the threads and BigGrim has dropped information and hints of other things in GC.

Most I have missed though.

So, like others, I watch and wait in my slow poke playing style. :)

I had a similar thought back in August, so looked through the news archive. Here's some data to feed into the discussion: number of levels released in ( ) if it differs from 25; 6 month totals in [ ]

[edit: hope the Americans can cope with the reversal of day/month]

2016: [      ] none yet
          [275] 7/1, 19/1, 5/2, 26/2, 29/4, 30/6 (150)
2015: [225] 4/9, 17/9, 19/10, 6/11, 3/12, 19/12 (100)
          [200] 6/1, 22/1, 27/3, 15/5, 26/6 (100)
2014: [275] 8/7, 28/7, 18/8, 4/9, 20/9, 10/10, 31/10, 14/11, 1/12, 20/12 (50)
          [200] 10/2, 7/3, 3/4, 17/4 (50), 9/5, 30/5, 13/6
2013: [200] 18/7, 25/9, 17/10, 12/11, 26/11, 4/12, 11/12, 23/12
          [125] 24/1, 20/2, 26/3, 14/6, 28/6

Conclusions?

  • Summer is typically slow for content release (2014 was the exception)
  • If the extra 50 levels had been kept back for July, this year would have been pretty typical for content release
  • assuming 100 levels in mid December, we aren't very far off 2016 matching the previous two years and exceeding 2013.

I realise that there are additional issues such as lack of quest content,  but also release of new LEs and occassional innovations (some of which we kill off and some of which we support), so this is not the whole story.

The feeling of less content this year is because we had 100 levels at the same time, and 50 next day, and not 25-25-50-25-25.

And that's a problem, because most of the EOCers can make the 150 levels on one hunt (it was during XP Event), so nwo everybody is overflowing with nothing to do with their stamina.

I think HCS should assume a compromisse with this, make it 400 levels per year, 25-50-25-50-50(XP Event, mid year), 25-50-25-50-50(XP Event december). That way everybody will know what to expect and when to expect, and avoid those long times with 0 content releases.

I guess 2 things can or have to be done.

1) Keep getting content out, while that is good for EOC players, it does put off starting players.

2) Get really creative, and bring more aspects/things to do to this game.

Personally I think this game drastically needs both, most current aspects are saturated. But I admit right away that at this point I do not have a good suggestion at what new game aspects should be. But I am surely going to spent some thought on it.

As pointed out in earlier posts, the community of this game is important, so  a good thing may be to add more guild aspects.

new content , as promised, should be regularly out there..

unless there is a change in the cows plans..
if they intend to stop releasing content, or the releases are going to be so slow,
i'd like the community to be informed about this.

i know lots who would change their play-style, depending the release-rate.

Another observation: due to slow content, I gave up using AL/Lib for my hunts around the start of the year (maybe with a blip around the 150 level event - although I made sure to stop that after 75 levels). At least it's meant that I've only just started sublevelling again during the summer's gap.

When X players are at EOC (choose what X is, I would choose it pretty small), content should be priority 1. And it could even be terrible content with no art, and no quests.

Reuse old maps, and MS paint up an oval with a smiley face, and call creatures Giant Potato #1 to #25. There you go, you now have content.

Terrible, uncreative content is better than no content.

kelly(ice) what i think, i dont sigh, i read it, i fully believe it, i agree, tho noone ever listens in RL, they dont listen here either, at least not long duration like we all try to uphold and believe OURSELVES, fact is a business makes no sense like this, sooner time is remastered by HCS sooner numbers CAN increase, like i said, i do believe and agree, i dont sigh, its no dissappointment, what i see is trying in vain, if my advice got sent, id keep rallying ingame like urck once did, over and over till voice after voice appeared here, till there was NO OPTION but to listen, yw!

edit: kelly, person to person, any fool can see you got weight in ya, my advice should be no problem if u step outta ICE for a min to do some hustling ;p
