On a poll you can't explain your reasoning, on the forums you can. Much more worth from less feedback, yet constructive.

 

Yes, you can by providing an explanation on the survey in a given field.  Plus, more people will fill out a survey than write out a post on the forum.  I made a quick sample survey of what it could look like and I'm happy to do the whole thing if that's how it gets done.  A survey also provides an unbiased look into opinions where vocal vs. non-vocal does not matter.  I think many more people would appriciate the anonymity.

Hello Everyone,

 

It's a surprise to no one that arena is dated and needs some help.

 

I come forth with a simple and easy change to help arena overall.

 

The 25% Guild mate arena rule should be changed to the following.

 

Joining with all your own gear = bypass 25% rule

Joining with Guild Tagged gear = 25% rule applies

 

Arena is a solo activity, if you are joining an arena with your own personal gear it has nothing to do with your guild mates. If you are joining with guild tagged gear then it makes sense for the 25% rule to apply to them.

 

The only thing I can possibly see people saying would be "collusion", but let's think about this realistically. Being in the same guild has nothing to do with that. With our access to communication in Realtime 24/7 across various platforms such as discord etc where many unique people are connected, this does not really apply.

 

I think this is a fine change. I've done very minimal Arena compared to others, but I don't really see an issue.  Hopefully it would promote some gear sales in the AH as well.

I think Adept Learner for this potion should be increased to 800 (which is a compromise from the original) and I think Librarian should be 800 as well, which is another compromise.

Conserve Level : 550 Duration : 120m
I still think this should be Animal Magnetism 500, but 450 is okay.  Conserve should be 850 which is right in the middle of the original proposal and I think is a fair trade off.

Distil removed.
Brewing Master Level :  500 Duration : 120m
It's not surprising that Distil 250 was removed with all the vocal people, but I can understand.

I feel that we are getting to a good place and compromising with the loyalty potion propositions.  I do appreciate all the feedback, and all I ask is that other players read this and try to compromise as well.  I think we can get to a solid place that will benefit the game as a whole.

Honestly, I love these changes! It gives new players/veterans incentive to spend and we all know that money makes this game go around.  People who choose to spend money to support the game should be rewarded and these rewards are fitting.

 

For those who think Distil 250 is not a good idea, I'm trying to understand why? Yes, we'll be able to push potions high(er), but why is that bad for the game?  I feel like players enjoy feeling strong and able to check their stats out and compare.

 

Yes, many of the chest potions will be not as powerful, but I imagine the Devs have thought about that and will adjust the donation chest awards.

 

So it's a hard YES from me and I feel this update is long overdue.  Thank you BG and the rest of HCS for your continued work.

Is he though? I understand that this is not a great weekend for this to happen, but to leave a game broken for 3-5 days is terrible.  You don't really see many other games where the devs just kind of decide not to fix the issue.  Also, Happy Easter!

We know where Sword is going, have no fear on that score but we will not be providing a roadmap. We have in the past and all it caused was trouble.

I appriciate the response.  What I have observed over the last several years in Fallen Sword is that there has been a steady decline in the player base.  The reason for this decline could be any numbers of things as it's the way of older browser games.  But one thing I know, is that money and donations are required for a game to progress.  People donate / spend when they are happy or confident in a product.  When that confidence is shaken, I imagine the money isn't flowing in. Which brings me to my next point...structure.

 

Development maps provide more than just structure which is so important.  Development maps provide hope, they provide the user base with a sense that things will improve.  BigGrim, when you say "we will not be providing a roadmap", how are we, as the consumers, supposed to interpret that?  The first thing that I thought was "they stopped caring", which probably isn't the case, but what else am I supposed to think?  Companies with pride in their product LOVE providing roadmaps because it gives them an opportunity to brag about the cool stuff they are releasing.  I'm sorry that all the roadmaps in the past have caused trouble, but I don't think that is enough of a reason to just not provide one.  And from what I remember, those roadmaps were awesome and I loved seeing what was in the works.

 

BigGrim, I implore you to please reconsider NOT providing a roadmap.  It's really hard to get excited to play Fallen Sword when there is no facts that we'll ever get anything new.  Thank you for your time.

Thanks for the response, but I'm still a bit unclear.  When "objectives" are mentioned, are those objectives for Fallen Sword, or are they objectives for HCS?  Also, to me, objectives and updates are entirely different so I don't understand how you don't know what updates you're going to provide because your "objectives" switch.  Please, some more clarity would be much appreciated.

 

Like, an update would be something like content, and an objective is the path or "goal" Fallen Sword.  Does that mean HCS isn't clear on where Fallen Sword is going?  That's also concerning, but I'm sure the community would appriciate some clarity.  Thank you.

So, to answer your questions as best I can:
 
1. Fallen Sword technically has four coders, two of which are dedicated to the development of the app (JustConix & Kamikazer). Hoofmaster and Moltenkore work on multiple projects (and are kept very busy as a result). Hoof is almost always making behind-the-scenes tweaks, most of which lately have been to facilitate functions of the app.
BigGrim works support, and handles content generation/admin whilst a variety of artists (myself among them) contribute to making things look shiny.
 
2. The game is updated as often as possible, which is not to say that it is updated as often as we would like.Getting Fallen Sword to cooperate with the App has not been a smooth ride but we're making good progress. Unfortunately that progress has also lead to the game misbehaving in ways we couldn't anticipate, and it's easy to break stuff, not quite so much to fix it afterwards.
 
3. We're using a Trello Board to plot our roadmap but it's focusing on the App development at present. Once the app is up, running and polished, our efforts can return to Fallen Sword in general.
We're focusing on the app at the moment, as Hoof has mentioned, but the app is nothing without Fallen Sword so rest assured it's not abandoned. You've all been wonderfully patient with us, we really appreciate it, and we understand your concerns! With a little luck this helps ease some of them, but we're unable to provide a roadmap simply because our objectives shift so frequently. We like to think this helps us keep up with what's most in-demand!
