I'm very happy to see my favourite part of the game get some attention!

I would have a lot more to say if the Arena as a whole was getting a much-needed revamp but, I'll keep this brief since we're just looking at prize support in this topic.

So, let's start with gold.

There seems to be some misconception that gold arenas bring more gold into the game however, this is factually inaccurate.

Tournaments with gold prizes use the following formula 1500 entry fee for each 10000 gold

Each tournament starts with a minimum of 8 players 

 

1500 x 8 = 12000

 

When you crunch the numbers, arenas for gold actually take gold out of the game.

Using this ratio, I think it's fine if we vary the gold amounts on show if the entry cost formula stays the same.

I personally believe that 2mill gold should be the new cap if the system can be tweaked.

 

Now regarding the option to convert arena tokens to gold, I'll be real and say until reading this thread I'd forgotten that was even an option because the ratio is so forgettable and bad that it's not even an option worth considering.

Unless it gets a significant increase, of course.

 

Potions

 

Now when putting in potions I will say that for me personally, occasionally having a convenience option for these comes up with the existing EW and FI 1k in the shop. So, for low-cost rewards I think the RF200 and Lesser Cloaks would be worthy additions. 

 

To introduce anything truly new into the pool I think it needs to be 100 or 200 cost at a minimum, I think other users have put forward some suggestions that would be worthy additions of similar expected value. 

 

Items

 

More gear is always more fun!

 

I'd like to see more crystal sets for purchase in the shop, regarding gear sets though usually 2 set combos give the best stats if you were to make a 3-piece set it would need to have significantly better stats in order to consider departing from 4 set + filler item model that optimised setups use in all aspects of the game.

 

The prospect of having some epics tied to the arena is exciting! 

I particularly like the idea of them requiring multiple parts like the Ward/Steamwork/Hammer line although multiple tiers of them would be unnecessary if they launched with modern epic stat lines.  

Another thing you could do is have alternate stat lines for epics as invent options.

 

... and that's about it! Thank you for consulting the community before making major changes, I hope that this dialogue can continue with future improvements!

I was thinking about the idea of having 'epic' ingredients available for high amounts of tokens (500/1000+) and even these being subject to market flood due to people already having tonnes of tokens saved (I myself don't even play arena much anymore and I still have a few thousand tokens).

 

Maybe for these shop items, there could be a 'cool down' period of 72 hours or so before you can buy another. It would control the rate of said items coming into the game. Obviously this is just a hypothetical but just a thought!

Would it make sense also to include fragment chests as the rewards?
 

And rewards similar to the DQ rewards for upgrading the character, such as +1 BP slot, +1 AH slot, +1 components slot. I imagine a lot of players would get nuts on those.
It is something that doesn't really add any gold/FSP into the game, but everyone is happy when getting a characted upgrade. Especially the new players who start with only a few BP slots.

I don't think frags would be good, it would just devalue the chest rewards, and make it not worth the keys to open, similar to how they've done with SE dropping potions that are found in chests. Plus you have global events for it too

I agree with your point on the fragment chests. It would de-value the chest keys.

Another I idea that I have. 
What about a potion-container as a reward? For example an Arena container and it gives 3 potion options: Offensive, defensive and inventing.
Something like that could apply to multiple players with different needs, so that might increase an interest to participate a tournament for it.

 

However I must admit my knowledge on already available potions is a bit lacking.

I think this rule can't be removed, because if rule is removed, there could be guilds farming arena tokens joining 8 members from same guild :)

 

I am sure FSH Team will make nice Arena update, surprising all players with much more interesting things, epics and potions so arena is worth for all players to play for valuable rewards, not only for tokens nothing to do with them, and arena wins that count only to move up in top arena winners list :)

Try adding more low-level arenas to the mix. There are many new players that mention it in global chat as well as in my own guild that state there aren't enough arenas for them to join at their low level, unless it is the novice ones that they have maxed. Perhaps also add a tiered level of cost to joining arenas that are proximate your level. That way the high-level players aren't scooping up all the low-level arenas without having to pay the extra cost to do so. Additionally, this would allow low-level characters to join high-level arenas despite the unlikelihood of their winning. It could be made cheaper for them to join, based on the algorithm and get more participation. It's all about tactics after all.

 

As for prizes, I see a lot of good ideas already, but the potions could use some more variety. I would love to see a

BE500 potion available to purchase for tokens for example.  This would not diminish the BE575 that composers make right now, but it would put it within reach for those that focus on this part of the game. I am sure that other examples could be found when looking at that list of potions.

Maybe add in an exchange of PvP tokens for Arena tokens. That way the prizes are separate, but it does add another form of in-game trade that can be controlled by the cows.

I Understand that arena is free for all levels. But is it okay to like, make a limit on the wins? Example if one player won 5 arena today. They can no longer join so other players have to chance to win and work on their medal.
