When you are invited to a guild you receive this message "You have been invited to the 'Guild' by player 'Name'. To accept or reject this offer, click the Join a Guild link."

'Guild' should be a link to the guild's page..
'Name' should be a link to the player's page..

Join a Guild link takes you to that page.. But there isn't even a link to the guild.. All you can do is see the name and accept/decline.. The name of guild should at least be a link to their page..

The only way to look at the guild then is to go to Guild > A-Z List > and search it..

I've made this thread multiple times over the years.. And it's something that is easily implemented and adds simple yet beneficial accessibility for guild invitations.. Especially to new players that aren't used to site's layout/functions

Please just add links to the invitations..

At the very least a link to the players name needs to be added - just do it everywhere!

I've posted an idea related to that in another thread, the ability to tag people anywhere with @nickname, like: (Guild chat) "I don't know mate, ask @yghorbb about it".

Little things like those would make the game way more user-friendly.

Sorry to say its not necessarily the cows fault areas are dead...Look at the population of the game? Ofc things will seem dead.

*more stuff*

Why not make or keep up on threads about the issues you have instead of speaking off topic in other's threads for a start.. Keep the discussion going and stay level headed without getting nasty.. I've had threads going for years but eventually things get through.. Cows work in their own time, in their own way.. We all know this and need to keep it in mind..

You aren't going to get anything done by going off like this.. Being constructive with your posts pay off more than shouting...

Recruiting for many Guilds is, and probably always will be, one of the hardest things to do in Fallen Sword. Providing a simple link to view a Guild on invitation would be a great addition and just may reduce the recruiting hardship. New players now get links to the FS forum to help in their introduction to the game, an addition I fully supported. This would be another.

Cheers.

Tried to invite a guest# new player from their profile.. It only added 'guest' to the invite which doesn't work for that player you were trying to invite.. The invite link in the profile has to put their guest# too..

Tried to invite a guest# new player from their profile.. It only added 'guest' to the invite which doesn't work for that player you were trying to invite.. The invite link in the profile has to put their guest# too..

The problem is the pound sign (#) has special meaning when it's used in HTML/Javascript/URLs. When the Guest#123456 stuff first happened, they couldn't be buffed either. A dead account named simply "guest" was the target of all the buffs, due to every thing from # and after was ignored. Instead of simply removing the # from the temporary names, the target buff code was rewritten to use the player id (all numbers) instead of name (where the # symbol resides in the temp names). The same thing should happen on the guild invite code. Or, as I suggested at the time, just drop the # from the temp names, and call them Guest123456. Alternatively, if they want a name that players cannot choose, in order to avoid the rare chance of possible duplicates, use an underscore (_) or dash (-) instead. Those are characters players cannot put in their names themselves, and therefore could not create a name that would cause a duplicate with a system-created temporary name, but shouldn't interfere with the code for buffing, inviting, etc.

While I'm writing about it, why do those accounts get called "guest" anyway? They are not a guest. The moment they create an account, they are a player. So, in my opinion, if you want to set a temporary name, they should be "Player123456" or "Player_123456". Simply calling them a "player" instead of a "guest" gives a sense of belonging, rather than a temporary stay. Additionally, they should receive a log message or have a little pop up thingy during the tutorial, which tells them how to change their name to their permanent name.

I doubt a # is the problem for a code master like Hoof.. He's written books...

It's a problem if they smoke too much of it at work tho ;)

Actually, it is the problem. That is why he had to rewrite the buff code to use player id instead of the username when the guest thing started. Just because someone is a "code master" doesn't mean the way a specific coding language works can be changed on a whim for them. The way HTML/Javascript/URLs work doesn't allow use of # in the way it's being used now, which is why it's not working. He will need to change the guild invite code to use player id as he did with the buffing, or remove the # symbol from the temporary usernames. A "code master" would have known that when writing the code to begin with. ;)

[And maybe Hoof didn't do it; coulda been Zorg, ya know. :P Sorry, Zorg! lol]

Additional info:

The URL for "Invite to Guild":
http://www.fallensword.com/index.php?cmd=guild&subcmd=recruit&target_player=Guest#123456

(player name used for target)

The URL for "Quick Buff":
http://www.fallensword.com/index.php?cmd=quickbuff&tid=4123456

(player id used for target)

In the first URL, #123456 is ignored as part of the username, because in a URL, # is a symbol to reference a "bookmark" on a page, rather than part of the parameter for something, as is attempted to be used in the current "invite to guild" URL.

You can see more about the # symbol's use in URLs here: http://www.w3schools.../html_links.asp (See the section titled: "HTML Links - Create a Bookmark")

An alternative to changing the URL to use player id or changing naming convention of the temporary names, would be to use "%23" in place of the "#" in the URL. This is the proper way to code the character so that the browser will interpret it as the # character without being used as a # character in its normal function in a URL. Example:
http://www.fallensword.com/index.php?cmd=guild&subcmd=recruit&target_player=Guest%23123456
