#932665 Belt Slot - Jewarly Gem slot's Idea.

Posted by Ood on 15 May 2015 - 23:00

Belt:

Instead of gem slots, give them increased potion slots, perhaps do this by item grade instead of tier:

Normal: 2 pots

Fine: 3 pots

Normal crafted: 3 pots

Special crafted (add some if there aren't any): 4 pots

Rare: 4 pots

Heroic: 5 pots

Fabled (add some): 6 pots

(or whatever the item tiers are, those listed are just example)

@ Jewelry gems

One of two things:

What you suggested (1 slot each for rare crafted jewelry), limit gems that can go into jewelry to: Aqua, tourm, Jasper, turq, howl (perhaps even make these only able to go in jewelry [except perhaps howl]).  This would be fine, though a bit boring.

Something more fun might be:

Add a fifth jewelry slot, independent from the others (don't make 5 item group sets). Make it an 'heirloom' type item that grows with your character. Obtain it in a low level quest, then 'level' it as you level/get exp for your character.  Allow it to change properties based on your gameplay (heal more, it eventually asks you if you want to move it towards healing properties; warrior more, it eventually asks you if you want to move it towards more 2h sword specialities, etc.), and/or allow it to 'consume' equipment to change properties (consume multiple light armors to give more sorcery, consume vitality heavy jewelrys to give vit bonuses, consume large amounts of mundanes to increase total effects, etc). Obviously limit these bonuses somehow, but make it another activity to pursue at the end game, in addition to gem crafting.

#931921 Attack power and DPS stacking

Posted by Ood on 10 May 2015 - 15:20

Rake answered this above. The order in which you consume food/pots etc. affects the order in which they are applied and therefore the overall dps. Log out and back in and the order changes, presumably to an inbuilt default.

Ah, I see:

Expanding on this formula above:

([Base DPS * DPS factors] * skillfactor)*1.05 = damage

Is your attack power formula this:
(M/R/S + food M/R/S) * Potion factor * 16 = Attack Power
or
(M/R/S*Potion Factor + food M/R/S) * 16 = Attack Power

With the rest not mattering:
Attack Power * Potion * factor = DPS
DPS * Skill Factor * Obelisk Factor * Crit Factor = Damage

@ Bliss
In general, it would seem you should use static boosters ( + a number ) before percentage boosters (+%), or food before potions.

It would be nice if this didn't matter.

#929632 Rebalance End Game Loot/Quests

Why run ASV now when you can get fabled set in few days in ICC

1. Can't do ICC, can do ASV
2. I know what I'm getting with ASV set.

Those who can and have been running ICC, for the most part, already had ASV set. For those of us that did not have it before the update, we can't find a group willing to bring us with them on a successful ICC run, and together without enough ASV gear, we cannot complete on our own.

Well, I had a large post all typed out, but this is what it comes down to for me.

I haven't done ICC, I do ASV on rare occasions, and can do BT/RG more or less whenever I want.

With the level 47 update, ASV was buffed, making it harder for me to get a group, making it harder for me to get better gear, making it harder for me to get to ICC.

Set ASV back to what it was, buff ARG to a level 47 or level 50 dungeon needing ICC gear, give it different rewards than ASV (something new would be nice), keep ICC as is.

#926824 Level cap to join low lvl dungeons.

Posted by Ood on 03 April 2015 - 17:18

If you want to run low level dungeons with other low level players, do it!

If you don't want to run low level dungeons with high level players, don't!

There doesn't need to be additional rules for this kind of thing.

#921872 A lowbie help system

Posted by Ood on 27 February 2015 - 23:14

I'd use this.

Helping lower levels is all well and good, but it's very difficult to teach a level 15 healer how to heal a party when the 45 they are working with annihilates everything while taking no damage.

It's not fun for most newbs to get whisked through a dungeon with no explanation and no difficulty, then to go back and try without help and get creamed because they didn't learn anything.

#919109 Friend List 'Bug'

Posted by Ood on 11 February 2015 - 23:52

BUG:

Friend list displays friends online on different servers, but you cannot message them.

Add some indication of what server our friends are on please!

Also, please bite the bullet already and allow cross-server chat (PM/Chatroom at least).

Please do not wait months and months to fix this! Friends are essential to this game, not being able to chat with friends is a severe detriment to the game.

#918637 Making Gold Useful

Posted by Ood on 08 February 2015 - 17:41

@ Goldsinks:

Gem fusing is an outstanding gold sink (going even two tiers up requires a fair amount of gold, going more than that and you're talking serious gold). Currently however, the limiting factor for most people seems to be FP (until you get very high tier). There's alternate ways to get FP, but all of them are basically a grind.

I had a suggestion a while back that would allow you to 'recycle' unwanted gear into FP/arcane shards, instead of selling it for straight gold (full post here: https://forums.hunte...on/#entry912687).

TL/DR of the topic:

Have a feature that gives arcane shards and/or fusion powder and/or other item for equipment, instead of selling to NPC for gold. Place this feature near the gem hearths.

It would encourage players to fuse gems, spend gold on shards (if it gave shards, could be set so you still have to buy some), spend EP on removing gems from equipment, and not give gold for selling the equipment.

#917128 Name Change

Posted by Ood on 26 January 2015 - 23:11

Please just remove name changes.

If you must have a name change in game, then sell one HC, sell them for $ only (not EP).

Your IGN is your identity, if you tarnish or just want to change it for some reason, you should have to pay, a lot.

Think before you name yourself.

#915847 Helper system

Posted by Ood on 17 January 2015 - 17:11

You underestimate the power of mute in a mostly social game.

Sure, muting the guy spamming 'asdlh;flaskjhjwehprohax' more than a couple times is good.

However, the additional rules required to stop spamming of things like trade channel, lfg requests, generic help, etc. to make things 'fair' for everyone (and limit the possibility of corruption), only makes these 'helper' characters seem corrupt (whether they are or not), inconveniences everyone, and makes people who don't read the rules (practically every new player) have to find out the hard way.

Additionally, you can do this NOW without any HCS approval, special distinctions, or other 'feel good' abusable powers. Hang out in Othalo, watch world chat for anyone asking basic questions, whisper them, help from there.

Sorry, but if you want to be a newbie helper, go do it.

#912687 Gem Hearth Add-On

Posted by Ood on 29 December 2014 - 20:40

What is it:

Addition or upgrade to Gem Hearth. Call it whatever you want, the 'Recycler' sounds tacky.

What does it do:

'Recycles' heroic and rare equipment into Arcane Shards (or fusion powder, or gems)

Why:

So much gear is bound, HC has its reasons, but it makes so there is not much market for anything but very end game gear and gems, and vanity things. Allowing gear to be recycled directly into Arcane Shards, in addition to being sold for gold, gives newer players the opportunity to upgrade gems. A part of this game that for the most part is reserved for when you have nothing else to do. Also, would help newer players break into other aspects of the game that need gems (such as PvP), as well as provide everyone additional ways to trade with fellow players, instead of dumping everything into an NPC.

Logistics:

As a starting point for discussion, have all level 40 and lower heroic or rare equipment be recyclable into small arcane shards, while 41+ heroic and rare items have a chance to be recycled into normal Arcane shards or small one, and/or with possible rare chance for large, if the feature gets moving enough.

Some randomness would need be factored in, also with chance for more shards depending on item level.

A 'consolation' prize of FP could be considered, if no shards are recovered from recycling, or gold could also fit the profile (although at a reduced rate from what you would NPC something at).

There's possibilities for other items to be included in recycling, or in reward, just having this here as a starting point.

TL/DR:

Have a feature that gives arcane shards and/or fusion powder and/or other item for equipment, instead of selling to NPC for gold. Place this feature near the gem hearths.

#911656 Mount, Pet, Emote Commands

Posted by Ood on 23 December 2014 - 16:00

This is a decent idea, but fuzzy logic for all chat commands would be better in my opinion.

Want to summon your baby penguin? /babypenguin would suffice, or under fuzzy logic, /babyp; /babype; /babypen; etc. you only need to type the amount of characters needed to distinguish it from all other possibilities.

In emotes, /mis, /ki, /fe, instead of /mistletoe, /kiss, /festivemusicbox would all work.

In PMs, /w ultr would likely pm you, /w oo would likely pm me, /w bliss, /w holyg, /w misf, /w mindd, etc. or if you are the only character with a name starting with U online at the time /w u would send a pm to ultramus, yes it would change depending on who is online, but for the times when we have multiple pms going at the same time, it's annoying to type out /w insertreallylongname, and just as annoying to click the name and hit whisper (why take hand off keyboard?), fuzzy logic is better.

#910260 Name Change in Shop

Posted by Ood on 18 December 2014 - 03:13

RWT = Real world trading

In a game that is as restrictive on gear and things as this, eventually, if someone thinks it profitable enough, they weill start grinding out level 45 characters, then selling them on black-market websites for $. People who are too lazy and have enough expendable income just purchase a character, change its name to what they want, and skip to the end of the game. All this is done without outside the system. Usually players still want to be called something in particular, so having an easily accessible name change system would just facilitate the process.

Name-changing is one of the worst things MMOs do, and I generally steer clear of persons who think they need to change their name.

We can go back and forth about it all day, but it's neither my nor your decision. If HCS wants to continue with what they do currently, so be it. If they see money in selling name changes, then they will do that. I can hope that they stop issuing name changes, but hope only goes so far in dictatorships.

#910213 Name Change in Shop

Posted by Ood on 18 December 2014 - 01:22

I very much dislike name changes in MMOs. Your game name is your identity online, if you tarnish your reputation with one name, you should not be able to pay to change it. If you want to make a new character/account to try to uphold a better reputation, you should have to start at the beginning.

Name changes also encourage RWT, which most look down upon.
