Tomorrow (April 6th) will mark my 1 year anniversary of my hysterectomy and of being free of uterine cancer.

To celebrate I'd like new graphic or two. I'm not going to limit this to just an avatar or signature.

Contest will end April 19th
Prizes:
1st place - 25 fsp
2nd place - 15 fsp
3rd place - 10 fsp

Edit: in light of how hard this was to decide, I've changed the prizes to as follows:

1st - 30 fsp
2nd - 20 fsp
3rd - 15 fsp
Added: 4th - 10fsp
Honorable mentions (please let me know if you agree to selling me the pieces, at 5fsp each)

I may be asking to purchase those that don't place after the contest ends.

No text slaps

What I would like to see is something that embodies the idea of being a survivor and overcoming the odds.

If you include a female image, redheads preferred.

Some words to think on for ideas:

"It came, we fought, I won"
"I fight like a girl"
"Hope is everything"
"I'm a survivor"
"You never fight alone"
"There is no "Can't" in Cancer"

Ok, I really really had a hard time choosing on this so I've bumped the prizes up for 1-3 by 5fsp and added a 4th place at 10fsp and an honorable mentions category. Several pieces fell into that category and I'd like to buy those pieces as well at 5fsp each. Please let me know if that is agreeable with you.

To me, the fact that I had such a hard time choosing means the contest was a success and that you guys really nailed what I was looking for. Thank you all again for entering. Here are the winners. This is my entry. The gray smoke in it symbolizes the cancer and its evil touch but the flames symbolize how through it all you lived on and were strong.

Chagryn - that stock is great. I've wanted to use it myself before but ended up not feeling the one I made for myself (and instead sold the piece) I love what you did with it!

IamJokerI - really like the anime girl, the whole thing comes together nicely.

Green (dress): Represents 'health'.
Red (hair): Represents a lot of things but in this case it represents 'energy' and 'fire'.
Yellow (magic light): Represents the 'spark of hope' all cancer patients should have. (Yellow is also the color the cancer society uses the most. i.e. the daffodils they sell)
Cracked earth: Represents 'death' or 'dying'. (In this case, cancer)
Stone arch: I dunno what it represents, I just liked it and wanted to include it. XD
Apple blossom (in hair): Represents 'things to come'. (I don't know why I put that in but it somehow felt fitting)

BTW: I like this one so much that I was strongly tempted to keep it for myself.

Couple of questions.

Would you prefer if it were a redhead? I've never tried changing a hair color to red but I might be able to give it a shot.

I wasn't sure if the cross was appropriate but the original render had a giant badge and I felt something needed to be in its place. Is that alright with you?

And the quote on the bottom. It might not be legible on all screens. My computer colors are set differently and I was unsure how faint to make it. Any changes needed?

The hair is great. I don't think she would look right in a red
The text is a little dark but still can read it just fine.

I'm able to overlook the cross and appreciate the symbolism of it, though a pentagram (point up) or a triquetra or even an ankh would be more suitable for me, but the symbolism would be a bit more esoteric to some (I'm a Pagan). Faith is very much a part of the battle. I really like that you brought that into the piece.

I met a fellow survivor through pure happenstance about 3 months after my diagnosis. She was a light in the dark for me during my darkest hours. Funny thing is, we met because of one of those silly "-ville" games and became fast friends because of gaming ethics and only later found out that we had something much more important in common. I do believe that there was Something that brought the two of us together, the Name doesn't matter, the faith does. So any symbol of faith is fine with me.
