I'm sure most of you active Suggestion Threaders saw my statements about formalizing Guilds, making a more effective guild/group competition PvP system. (http://forums.hunted...showtopic=64788 for those who haven't). I do highly suggest reading that and contemplating how the two would function together.

My intention is that this suggestion would affect that system slightly, but would level the playing field a tad and allow for a better and more balanced 1v1 PvP system as well.

In this thread, I'd like to suggest HC create a new career path (Gladiator) and a third gear load out, like the Vanity sets, which is based upon the player's Gladiator Career level.

LEVELING UP:
The more a person PvP's the more Gladiator Career points they earn, and the higher level they can become. The higher level gladiator a player becomes, the better Gladiator gear they can equip. I'd suggest that both losers and winners in 1v1 PvP match ups would gain experience from any match, though the winner would get more.

WHERE IT ALL GOES DOWN:
I'd suggest that, with this system in mind, anyone could pose a formal PvP challenge against another player anywhere in the world. These challenges should be set as ignorable in the Options menu.

There could be queues for official Daily, Weekly and Monthly 1v1 Tournaments.

There would also be a Spontaneous PvP queued Pairing system, which people could enter the queue for and be teleported to a "Void Arena" once the match was created, and then teleported back to their Homepoint, once it was completed.

THE STAKES:
Losers would walk away with Death's Door and Winners would walk away with more points and a "Champion's Pride" buff which would essentially function as the inverse of Death's Door. This would function in any normal PvP match. I'd also recommend that players be allowed to make a small wager with each other.

Organized tournaments would give the winner's additional prizes, and Queued Pairings would also grant special awards, due to the random nature of the pairings.

THE ABILITIES vs ATTRIBUTES:
Each PvP player would still have access to all of the same skills they have earned/bought in PvE through the skill tree, however their attribute points would be leveled off and would be merely a reflection of the Stats of the Gladiator gear they have equipped, and they could only equip gear which is in line with their Gladiator Level, meaning that a level 45 Ranger wouldn't come in and trounce a level 20 Prophet/Mage with a barrage of arrows the first time they PvP.

THE GEAR:
I would also propose that ANY socketed gear could have a Gladiator Badge placed on it (in the place of a Gem) which would add a Socket (so you don't lose that benefit for customizing gear) and which would bind it as a Gladiator Piece for PvP/Gladiator stats. Furthermore, if a player were to do this with each piece of a set (Like say, the Vault Keeper set) that they would receive the usual bonuses for wearing the full set.

THE BRAGGING RIGHTS:
From an aesthetic standpoint, Players should have the choice between using their Vanity Pieces or their Gladiator Pieces (or of course their normal Set) on their avatar, when walking about in the normal world.  It is a way for players to walk around in their Lvl 35 Gladiator set to show their bad@$$ery in PvP bouts.

ECONOMIC BENEFITS:
This is likely to add about a 60% increase in the amount of Gold spent in-game on armor and weapons.
If HC should decide, they could also create some sort of EP or Gold Sink, by selling certain Gladiator pieces through the Eldevin Market.

How would the attributes of the armors work? Does only one of them apply? Would they who got high gladiator level be OP against they who got lower gladiator level?

Sorry for a lot of questions, but I didn't fully understand the concept.

The concept is integrated into that other one I posted. It takes into account that there would already be Weight Classes instituted into the PvP queue system, so no player ever has to face another player who is more than 5 levels above their Gladiator level in an Official PvP Match.

Though, if a player decided to initiate a spontaneous duel with someone 30+ Levels higher in Gladiator... they'd be allowed to... just not a smart decision for the low-level shmo, unless they really want to be dead.

Heck... this could even open up the possibility of spontaneous 3v1 bouts. Imagine being a level 35 Warrior and Challenging a team of 2 slightly lower level Players and still winning the bout... talk about having bragging rights!!!

I saw his post, however it was very much based around Group PvP and creating almost a completely separate game for PvP.

I tried to integrate some of what we already have, Career leveling and Vanity Sets, with a system that could allow for both Team, Individual, Tournament and Spontaneous PvP, while also allowing for some defined benefits for competing with others.

My goal is almost always to try and come up with ideas that integrate concepts based on pre-existing systems, which might have code which the Devs can base the new system upon.

If I were a developer, I am certain that I'd be more likely to integrate a system which requires the least amount of re-coding, to save money and time.

Sorry for going off-topic, but I usually think how things would affect the long run...

Also, you haven't answered this:

How would the attributes of the armors work? Does only one of them apply?

Yes. My concept is that all normal attributes would be set to zero, and only Gladiator specific gear attributes would be calculated when in PVP mode. This way, as you go up in rank, the level of Gladiator armor you can equip would increase, which would be the primary basis for customizing your character to PVP in a way which accounts for your playing style.

I have to say no to the "Champion's Pride" buff.  It would be too easy to game the system with friends trading/paying for said bonus.

Yea... that is a good point... maybe something less drastic like a small wager then? Something that no one really stands to gain from gaming the system?

You don't have to win anything if you've decided to not stake. I would just fight for fun and I would not like any loss if I lose... and I don't need any extra reward, as I said I would fight for fun.

If there would be any debuff if you loose, remains for others to decide.
