Not necessarily - it just needs to be better than currently available - or in a different item slot that currently available - or with a different alternative stat to currently available. There are so many options ...

All of which I understand, but if you are trying to make someone want to spend 50 FSP (10 M gold for a crystal key) one component of an item they may fail to invent, then the item is going to have to have something significantly above the norm going for.

And if it is for hunting/PVP, you either need a set (so multiple key purchases) or it has to be good enough to compensate for the loss of CrdA/D

If it's for higher levels where there are less options available, I totally agree with you.

People nowadays whine and cry (or at least they used to) if gear doesn't have damage on it. Would you be ok with gear that has Attack/Armor on it? Or Attack/Defense?

Nice idea, Pard, but I'd suggest the "overpowered items" discussion above is actually on-topic because of your almost-forgotten point: the chests are hideously expensive to open, which means that no one will bother to open them unless they are needed to make a hideously expensive item - and items will only be hideously expensive if they have some unusually high stat.

So it may be that this won't give any value to the chests unless it also makes an overpowered item.

Also, people never let a chest on realm on porpuse, we still sell or open it...So we are getting the item anyway, the items to invent would just give some value to the chests, worthing the price of opening it.

Given that the VAST majority of the chests found randomly contain items that are as much use as a chocolate poker, how about using THESE items in recipes?

That's a damned fine idea. I confess, those had not occurred to me.

One more thing tho - make OMACAZ NOT work with these recipes.

I cannot see neutering a donation potion occurring I'm afraid.

Gear has had a wide range of stats on them for quite some time. The days of "Only damage!" are quite far behind us. Heck, players have been calling for Arm/HP or Arm/Def for ages and we have been delivering it.

Would people who are currently gear-starved be ok with taking away their damage?

Again, there has been a wide array of stats on new gear across the higher levels. There's been no complaints about it.

I have uses for both of those gear combinations you mention, depending on their slots. I have combat sets for SE hunting and Arena as well as for normal levelling, so, to answer your question, yes.

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

I like the OP's suggestion about using chest rewards for inventing sets. That is a great idea because it will give value / purpose to chests besides being a tick on someones medal. It will also be a nice pay day for anyone that luckily stumbles upon a chest.  It could also increase donations for players that prefer to pay for keys via tokens versus gold.

Side note: Could we get some more powerful loyalty potions? I feel the composing potions are as powerful if not more powerful than the loyalty potions. This could be a good way to even out composing a bit as well since this has given people a huge advantage over others.  Perhaps I'm acting in self interest, but I have a lot of tokens but nothing to spend them on, that is actually worth it.
