Happy Anniversary!! I've been here forever as well and have now embraced my slacker status. Thanks to an awesome Bonded, I might actually reach 50k but besides that I don't play much. I refuse to leave though. Like you I have many fond memories. Several former players are on my Facebook and it's always nice to see how their doing and see the occasional comment on another former player's posting that references their old personality or a memorable situation.

As most you know, Photobucket has been a favorite of sig makers like me and also a favorite for people to host their sigs for use on the forum. I also used it to store pictures, graphics and other things cause it was easy to share them on the forums or in Yahoo Messenger. (YM - Damn, I'm old..lol)
I always paid for a premium account so I could have more space and so that hosted sigs could be used.
Anyways.. Photobucket has gotten greedy. The $25 per year plan that I had will no longer be available and for 3rd party hosting (which is needed for sig use on forums) they want the horrendous amount of something like $500 per year!! I'm quite pissed that they've gotten so greedy and will not be continuing any type of upgraded account.
This means that my sig here, sigs used by others that were hosted by me, and all the sigs in the memory lane post will not be able to be viewed soon. Other sigs like the ones that Blyss posted will also probably be gone.
I don't know how much longer mine will be able to be viewed but I assume mine will be OK till April.
If there is a sig you wish to keep, please save it now before they go poof.
Just out of curiosity.. Does anyone know of another hosting site that is free?

I'd also like to vote to give OG owner status.
Paco, I understand but it seems like Frank once told me that BrideOf was his daughter's character so.. Do you have anyway to get a hold of her? Maybe HCS would allow a transfer if you got the PW and concent from her.
I know I'm grasping a straws here but I'm just trying to think of something that wouldn't include HCS breaking their rules.

I rated Gothador at 5 stars not because of the amount of attention it gets but because of the community. If I could rate HCS and the game itself separately I would but I think the players alone deserve 5 stars.

I don't think I could vote for just one because so many people made an impact on different aspects of the game. Cap who was one of the first to realize that speed was the key to the game, AssStallion with the pvp, Andor with his elf mage that was the first to hit 10k, and the very entertaining forum posts of insatiable, burt, las/val, tone, rev and many more. When it came to players that I admired there were many and for different reasons.

I've thought over the years about things that made Gothador fall and I came to some of the same conclusions as others: powerful vials, doubler, USPs, unfair mage vs warrior stats, etc. and although any one of those or the numerous other things could be blamed I don't think the actual downfall had anything to do with Gothador, Hoof or HCS. Personally, I blame WOW and other games similar to that. One person started playing WOW, got their cultmates to play and then those people got their friends to play.. before you knew it Gothador wasn't anything compared to WOW and when you include all the problems from the above and add in the fact that when you play WOW you don't seem to have time to play other things, you have what we got which was popular players leaving and taking their friends with them. Now, HCS is also to blame when they introduced Fallen Sword and left Gothador to take care of FS while they took years to complete Eldevin. I'm guessing that people left FS for Eldevin and people will leave Eldevin when something better comes along... it's the gamer way.
