Where to hunt*:

Before getting too far in, I thought it would be good to edit in BG's confirmation of the required size of realms for spawning to occur and the relevant level at the beginning:

10 x 10 is correct. Bear in mind, this INCLUDES the borders of the realm. Global critters spawn in Realms of level 25+.

What follows is a general list of "preferred" hunting grounds provided by many players throughout FS. The relevance of the "Just Elite" or "no creatures" (where noted) is simply because a player will not have to worry about hitting something else while using the number key to smack.

Ramdal Caves: Level 25 and the lowest level place they start spawning. Not my favorite, but it does cost less via portal to get here.

Iluore Dragon Pit  level 92: 10 x 10 (no creatures listed). Thanks out to Rexarr.

Tepal Cave (Level 140): Just Elite.

Rarek Dungeon (Level 150): Just Elite.

Kozyu Crystal Catacombs (Level 225): Just Elite.

Vashku (Level 235): Just Elite.

Ragnok Lair (Level 260): Just Elite.

Trvons Clearing (Level 310): Just Elite. Thanks out to yghorbb for the info.

Sphinx Lair (Level 370): Just Elite... thanks out to yotwehc for the info. BG's favorite spot.

Xinderoth's Library (Level 421): No creatures. Thanks out to ironlegs for the info.

Key Lock (Level 460): No creatures. Thanks out to yotywehc. Quest locked. justinian9 suggested the area right before it that also has no creatures: Compound Gate

Ralthien (Dark Corner) level 510: No creatures listed. Thanks out to TobiasRagg.

The Secret Kingdom (Keep): Level 530. Thanks out to crippla for the info.

Darkwater Lighthouse (Lower) (level 533). No creatures. Thanks out to ironcire. BG said it's quest blocked.

Satero Residence (level 930). Just Elite. Thanks out to zizzwyly.

*Please note on the above areas:

Sometimes the fact that an area is "quest blocked" is noted. After some careful thinking, I decided this is irrelevant for the general idea of the post.

My personal advice (since I don't have the necessary knowledge) is: Be sure to check your quest book (on left-hand sidebar under Character). If you are a player that tries to avoid doing quests, then simply avoid the areas near where a quest is necessary or ask around (or in this post). Not all of the above areas are my personal preferences. However, I ended up deciding to NOT exclude areas that "may" be quest blocked.

Global Booster:

On the left-hand sidebar under Upgrades (thanks out to Scoops1972 for correcting), click on Loyalty. Here you may find various potions for gold or Loyalty Tokens (I personally suggest purchasing for gold) for Global Booster.

This works like Doubler, but the nuance is pretty important: Global Booster ups the number of kills registered for an equivalent stam usage. This makes Conserve useful. HOWEVER, do NOT hit regular creatures while this buff is active. It will drain your stam like Doubler but it won’t do anything for your kills.

Besides the loyalty section, there are other various potions available with this skill in the Auction House (AH) if you select it in the “Grants Buff” drop-down and is also an option via Composing.

This pot will help you get more more kills at a stam cost that is equal to the extra kills. However, when your conserve activates, you will get the extra kills at zero stam cost.

“Essential” buffs (or potions**) to use:

Conserve

Lightfoot

Animal Magnetism

Reckoning

Other possible buffs/potions to use:

Summon Shield Imp- If you really care about your Kill Streak (KS). Crud happens, lol.

Unbreakable- If you care about your gold. This is relevant to "avoid" repair costs to a "large" degree. Also see the Item Use section further down for additional advice.

If you compose, these are highly recommended on events where frag stashes are dropped by the global creatures (please note that there is some additional info on this a bit lower down***):

Find Item (FI)- This is player-goal and GE dependent. Useful in frag GEs IF you compose.

Lady Luck- This runs in tandem with FI.

**If you are using potions (pots) then you should consider the following. Keep in mind that Global Booster is only available currently as a pot

Distil: This will increase the power of your pots. It should "theoretically" be used before drinking any pots.

Brewing Master will allow your pots to last longer. You need to decide whether this is relevant or not based on how long you will be smacking. With current maximum level 175 buff (not including the potion) a 30 minute potion will last 57 minutes when drunk after this pot is activated. 45 min = 85 and 60 min = 113.

In most cases (if you are planning on smacking for more than half an hour, you need to be aware of what is better for you), as soon as you are done drinking ALL your pots, you may want to deactivate both Brewing Master and Distil in order for Reckoning to work "better".

-Thanks to yotwehc for making me realize the above clarification was probably key (o0

Item use:

Since most GEs are level 25 creatures, it may be convenient to minimize the number of items worn to have stats enough to one-hit but fewer to save on repairs.

You need to weigh the importance of your KS and consider how efficient you are in paying attention to your tick in order to switch for your stam-gain items at the appropriate time.

*** FS options for when there are frag stash drops from global creatures:

You should know that there are two options that may be important for you under Character, then Preferences then User Interface. At the time of this edit, both are the last two under Miscellaneous at the bottom right of this screen.

1st: Auto Open Fragment Stashes: When you are smacking the global creatures that drop frag stashes, this will automatically open those stashes. The fragments go to your composing frags stash. This is extremely handy since you could have only one bp space open and it will suffice for your smacking. Since items are currently bound, I have had a hard time understanding (though there could be a reason current OR FUTURE) why you wouldn't have this box checked.

As of this edit, I can say that my investigations have shown that it opens only those stashes received as drops. I hope this continues that way. In other words, according to my experience, it does NOT open anything taken from the Item Mailbox. This is relevant because it means that if you find a frag stash in a chest somewhere, it is not opened when you take it from your Item Mailbox. It also does not auto-open the Frag chests given as prizes in some GEs. I would hope this NEVER changes because, though the Frag chest prizes are currently bound, the chests found in the realms that require a key and contain Frag stashes are not. Some may prefer to send to Guildies or sell.

Since the above has not been confirmed by HCS and "could" change, I'd suggest using this option ONLY during the frag GEs and deactivating (unclicking the boxes) afterwards, just to be safe.

2nd: Hide Fragment Stash Logs. The only thing this really does is alleviate the pressure on your log. What it means is that you will no longer receive log messages telling you how many frags you receive when you open a frag stash.

Any further discussion with expert opinion on adjustments is appreciated.

I tried to make it as simple as possible for all levels and also with a view towards it attempting to be “ever-lasting” (willie wonka reference). Hence, I wasn’t too interested in listing possible pots, ie., check out how vague I was on the Global Booster.

Keeping in mind that the intro is the only thing I think should remain viable, I offer my FS community effort for this run only. Keep in mind that this post was created for the January 16th, 2015 GE titled Zombie Yeoman IV.

Since I believe the Buff Market is self-sufficient (please see cyrus' post below- thanks cyrus- for how to search for multiple buffs if need be) for helping to find the essential buffs for this community event, I will offer the following:

To any players with large amounts of stam that don’t mind using that stam for the community by offering the essential buffs at an accessible price AND will be using auto-refresh to keep their offers alive in the Buff Market, I “may” advertise you in my bio.

To a large extent, this appears to be irrelevant since, theoretically, you should be found in the searches. But there is a caveat whose success is questionable, may definitely be yet another Egami-noob move and will depend entirely on the community:

I believe that people offering to help the community in this way might benefit the community itself by being supplied with Buff Master and, arguably, Extend and/or Reinforce from other FS players that would also like to help by keeping those buffs active.

In a perfect world, said donators might get Buff Master eggs and/or Brew Master pots from those willing to help in this way.

On this last part, I think I’m an idealist… but pm me if you’re interested in helping and/or ST me (preferably with single pots or the Buff Master/Brew Master combo) for one gold and I’ll do what I can based on my criteria. Please do NOT send directly as I don't want to fill my bp. I'll only accept the ST assuming I have somebody in mind to receive it.

-Edited to include some helpful info-

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way... Also, more on Merch than TH, but I'm a gold freak and it's not good for the game, lol.

Seriously, that was definitely a rough call for me. I decided to leave UB for part II (others) simply because I think the "hardcores" would go with min equipment (I just wear my Epic boots) and they would get more wear and tear out of the Reckoning activating more on Conserve and/or FI if it's a frag GE.

Thanks for the input dd. (o0

Sorry, don't need Unbreakable if you hunt naked or maybe 1 or 2 of the lowest level items you own.  At level 25 these monsters throw themselves on you sword.

On the left-hand sidebar under Updates, click on Loyalty. Here you may find various potions for gold or Loyalty Tokens (I personally suggest purchasing for gold) for Global Booster.

Think you mean Upgrades not Updates. No biggie, but if you're asking for it to be pinned it would be better if it was correct ;)

Since I believe the Buff Market is self-sufficient (well, HCS really could improve by allowing multiple-buff searching, hint, hint

If you're talking about looking for more than one skill at a time within the same package, you can already do this.

When on the Buff Market screen, select the first buff to search for from the drop-down menu of skills, then click the Add Buff button and you'll get another box to select another skill to add to the search. Repeat for a few more if desired, then click the Search button. The search results will then only give packages that include all the skills you selected.

Lvl 370 Sphinx lair is a small map with just an elite on the map.
Lvl 460 key lock is also a good area from what I've been told but have not personally tried

For the frag fans, I did some experimenting during a mini hunt yesterday. If you are hardcore frag consumers do what penny and I do but will be difficult physically as well as to qualify for top 100 but I did pull it off last event:
- GB is your enemy. Do it 1x1
- get as high a level FI as possible and use distil (but turn distil off after you drink all your pots so rec kicks in more often)
- minimize buffs so reckoning kicks in more
- if you have a high level composer in your guild, use Lady Luck. I was 60-65% efficient (60-65 frag per 100 stam used) but using Lady Luck 130 boosted it to 85%

Many, many thanks yot for great info.

With the guide having it's glitches, it's hard to evaluate... but looking at the 10 x 10 on Sphinx adding now... For me, the Elite only is a plus... Key Lock also appears to be 10 x 10. I'll add.

Really with all these, was trying to keep it "low" for all levels, but I know there are tons of spots that might be better. Will add them all.... I figure it only makes it better and perhaps spreads people out.

Along those lines... again... trying to keep this really "generic" for ALL the GEs, but you have some great info for others:

As far as using distil and then deactivating... definitely. I need to add the "distil" point into basics. Will do. "EDIT: added. Suggestions on improving info happily accepted."

Again, trying to just do the basics. Thanks to your input, I'd really like to add an "if-then" category. Definitely not high on my priority list, but still great info.

Along those lines: Lady Luck and perhaps the info on Guild Booster vs using FI to take advantage. For me this is a bit too player specific (ie, stam, composing, cost, blah, blah). I will look at how to add it efficiently to the first post.  "EDIT: Lady Luck added to other category. Scratching my head on if-then idea".

In any case, many thanks yot... tons of great info.

On the initial post:

I've added some basic info about brew master and distil and deactiviation of both, which I think is relevant for everybody at all levels... in case (lol) people are using pots.

I've added in Lady Luck to the "other buffs" section.

Considering Global Booster, I'm not too happy with where the Brew Master shows up, but I'll think about that (maybe) later... lol.

Immense thanks out to everybody who has bothered to take the time to respond (o0

Brilliant topic, thank you Egami!

I can't really add anything new here - instead, I'll try to advertize this topic as much as I can on ingame chat when I am online and no one else is doing so already!:) I know it's not much, but it may help.

Also, I would like to point out that even though we came short on every pot-reward community event last year, this only happened by a small margin - so please, inform all active members in your guilds to do their share, at least to personal ruby, because every bit of help matters - and the earlier they do it, the more morale-boosting effect it can have via the progress-bar!:)

Many thanks Justinian... yot had said that he hadn't been there or investigated. It's been removed and will not be re-added (by me at least, lol).

One of my big doubts here was adding bigger levels... I could swear there are some 1k plus levels that are relevant, but it could just be in my head.

Major downside is giving the info out for free... But hey... us 8 year-olds can't hog everything... errr... yeah, lol. Anybody upset about me making the info public, please 100 stam me ,oP

Brilliant topic, thank you Egami!

Thank you Nicram... that's all really what this is all about.

I am NOT doing this to convince anybody to do more than the 5k kills. I'm not even here to convince anybody to do any kills whatsoever.

My major purpose is to set up an info post so that those players who are interested have a place to find out what they need for their own ends.... whenever that may happen... be it this time or in 5 years.

On this round... well, I don't care about the pots for myself personally. Some day though, I will benefit directly. In the meantime, a couple of my Guildies will be pleased. Some of my alllies as well.

Really, my "hope" is that FS as a whole will end up "benefitting" and, especially, participating.

I openly admit that I'm NOT putting 110% effort in to advertising or whatever. I just hope that, if this post ends up being considered helpful, that it serves to help the community for future ventures, be they what they may.

lol you're welcome. I'm pretty sure it's been there since the Buff Market came out. :)

cyrus... thank you so much. For me, this serves as a great example of me being a "noob" and being proud of it.

Sure, being proud... that could sound ridiculous... and it definitely is.

What I would underline here is you taking the time to let me know (and FS in general) that I'm a complete noob and this option is available.

There are not so many who would bother to help such an "idiot". I, sincerely, appreciate it. I hope that comes across as heartfelt because it really, truly is.

I've always said something along the lines of... "I've been in the game for almost eight years. Though a lot of people forget that they were new players once, if I ever reach a place where I no longer consider myself to be a 'noob', it will be because I have become Inactive".

In that respect, cyrus... thank you so much for taking the time to set me straight. Hugs.

seeing as this global creature gives 0 gold..better of trading TH and merch for reckoning

Siggs... damn you man... thanks for the info on this, lol.

I've yet to do a run on this... been a bit busy, lmao. I never really understood why some global creatures drop gold.

After a long time, I do think there is a bit of logic to it... but let's not get off topic. I "may" edit the original post to reflect that.

Again, I never thought global creatures should drop gold..... If we were to get really off topic, I'd suggest HCS program that something like level 25 to 50 get the pitiful gold drop... but that is way off topic.

Hopefully, with the UB, Merch and TH being in "others" it isn't that big of a deal... but definitely worth revisiting on my part.

Where to hunt*:

Sphinx Lair (Level 370)- Just Elite... thanks out to yotwehc for the info.

That's my favoured hunting spot too. I tell people about it all the time in Global Chat. It's pretty awesome.

Wouldn't it be cool if some HCS-approved scripts were also made public?

Let's just be clear here. The ONLY approved script is the Fallen Sword Helper. If you have evidence of scripting beyond that, contact Support.

I never really understood why some global creatures drop gold.

Hmm. They shouldn't drop gold. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have fixed the effected Global beasties.

One way to get around the durability situation is to buy a couple 1K items in the AH that have 160 durability (and have the stat you need to kill the beasts. I bought some with attack). Equip one, attack until it breaks, frag it, then equip a different piece.

Due to composing, there are rarely items that cheap in the AH. ;)
