The Gem slots have vanished from all my Armour, it has also taken the bonus stats of the Gems I had embedded in them, and I assume all my Gems too

I'm assuming the gem slots completely got removed?
Which items are we talking about? Maybe someone removed some slots.

glad i've kept all my gems in my BP to make better ones.

It happened after this hotfix, all the slots in the mercenary armor (level 35 crafted) were removed.

just checked, my merc set has lost the gem slots too.
I can tolerate ignorance, but i cannot stand stupidity

My Copper plated ranger set has also lost gem slots and the gems i had embedded have dissapeared as well.
Ranger - levels -Alchemy 49 . Foraging 49 . Skinning 49 . Leatherworking 49 . Cooking 49 . Forestry 49 . Cooking 49. Prospecting 49 . Weaponsmithing 49 . Farming 49. Fishing 49 . Crystal Cutting 49. Jewelry 49. Tailoring 49. Armor smithing 49.
Done all the hard yards - Crafted and Gathered everything myself in Beta version and currently as well..

After some investigation just looks like a little data input error.
Basically the people that had the items with slots + gems from before they will still be there and are just hidden from the tooltip.
All the items that were affected that have dropped since the patch won't have any sockets.
Should be patched soon.

are you sure about this, as i've seen that my heroic helmet still has a socket to it. i did see all my other merc set lose socket's but just thought you had changed it to just heroic items having sockets for gems. i my be wrong.

Not all slotted items got changed only a select set of items. If you socketed a gem in the socket before the sockets stopped displaying the gem bonus should still apply.
