#964100 Development Update

Posted by ComradeLewis on 06 June 2016 - 23:33

Sorry to hear this, but I do think it's overdue. I've been checking back about once every 3 months or so, although I have not played in years. Primarily, I wanted to finish the quests at level 50, but at this point, I don't even remember the story.

I'll give just a bit of feedback as to why I haven't been playing all this time, and perhaps you can apply it to your next game. There wasn't enough variance in equipment stats, so there was no reason to hunt for drops at all (which is a very addictive element to any MMO); once you get your dungeon set, that's it! There was also a lack of anything to do with your gear at the end of the game. I know you were working on guilds, and attempting to make PvP alluring, but it never quite worked. Lastly, a game like this should not launch without a guild system. There was a huge influx of new players when this was green-lit, but nearly all of them fell through the cracks without a system in place to form their own community.

I don't mean to rub salt into an old wound. I did really enjoy this game, and I don't regret supporting you financially. I do agree that it's likely time to move on, and perhaps focus on something new. If it's interesting, I'll be there.

Good luck, and thanks for the entertainment.

(It looks like we'll never get that barber shop)

#936935 change lvl 49 BELT roll(DEV please read)

Posted by ComradeLewis on 21 June 2015 - 22:02

HP, MP, HP regen, MP regen, etc.. There are plenty of things to think of that wouldn't make them too strong. I question the lack of creativity here.

Why would anyone equip something that makes their class function worse than before? Maybe this is a product of the staff not playing their own game.

#936756 Amulets not giving luck

Posted by ComradeLewis on 19 June 2015 - 21:50

I don't know. I got one with 10% more dance time. I am hoping to re-roll it for 8% more friends, since I'm not much of a dancer.

#936728 Clickable mail button

Posted by ComradeLewis on 19 June 2015 - 18:00

Change the "you've got mail!" icon to a clickable button please. Every single new player that logs on asks why the button doesn't work. It is, after all, right next to 3 other buttons that are clickable.

I'm not saying that it shouldn't require going to a mail box. I am saying that there should be a popup notification stating that you need to go to one, and maybe even showing a picture of it next to the notice board in Eldevin City.

If you want to get fancy, maybe even use that pathing arrow that's in the opening scenario after character creation to map a path to the closest mail box (it's already in the game, right?).

At present, new players just assume that it is broken.

#935477 mages teleport ignores spires

Posted by ComradeLewis on 13 June 2015 - 08:31

actually you can. your stun jolt and snare is 6s total(max amount before they get CC immune). which is more than enough to kill anyone. unless they have redemption talented and use it just when you started hitting.

This is incredibly OP. Basically, whoever attacks first with this wins almost every time. Unless the fight is Prophet vs Prophet, fights don't last more than 10 seconds. With 6 seconds being entirely only 1 person attacking, you can see what the issue is. I'm talking equal opponents here. People with very pathetic gems with proper rotation (and class) can easily kill players with better gear and an entirely messed up PvP class. PvP is totally messed up in this game.

#935148 great fix for TA issue

Posted by ComradeLewis on 10 June 2015 - 06:14

I don't see this fixing a thing. In fact, it seems to make matters worse. What's the real issue? That the top tier PvP speced circle of players don't have enough people to kill, or that there is too much griefing in the game? They clearly need to restrict killing low level players in some manner, since the only purpose behind it is to make players quit. It's already doing a hell-of-a good job at that.

#934248 change TA back to how it was

Posted by ComradeLewis on 01 June 2015 - 03:27

I'm totally against this. No one ever used the area then. Why make a map totally useless? I thought we were trying to improve the game and make progress here, not revert it back to it's beta.

#934073 so these ASV gold bags kinda set me off....

Posted by ComradeLewis on 30 May 2015 - 18:46

I've come to the conclusion that this sort of thing is due to none of the developers actually playing the game at max level, so they don't know what values are reasonable.

Personally, I don't run ASV, ARG, TOC, Arena, or WB. None of them are economically worth running at all from my perspective.

All of my money and gem making is done solo. I would consider running ICC if there were people available on a daily basis, but that's too difficult usually. So, essentially the most productive use of my time is completely solo. Yet, this is an MMO?

I don't suggest holding your breath though. I've been fighting for TOC and WB tweaks for over 2 years now. They finally got around to raising the WB gold bag from 2 gold to 20 about a year later (after I had quit). TOC they poke at every once in a while, but after 2 years they still can't comprehend what needs to be done. They seem to think that gamers will spend endless hours doing 1 boring event and then take a loss afterword. Sorry, but that's not fun. I know that your achieving an objective in ASV, but with the other events mentioned, it does not apply at all.

1) Expenses must be covered. Especially for support classes.

AND

2) There must be a purpose to it.

#933515 PvP Mega Thread

Posted by ComradeLewis on 25 May 2015 - 15:29

Oh, I realized that they did make a change for PvP in the last year. They nerfed Holy Vengeance so that when a Prophet is attacked by someone that is not an assassin, they can't run away anymore. Good job HC. I admit that the skill made winning CTF pretty easy, but they could have just disabled it when you had the flag.

I really can't see how anyone can say that assassins are balanced at all. A 3 second stun followed by silence and snare means 1/2 of your HP is gone before you even start fighting. Effectively, your starting each fight with 1/2 your HP against a full HP player, every time if you don't have your own teleport and stun skill.

#933496 PvP Mega Thread

Posted by ComradeLewis on 25 May 2015 - 06:39

None of these ideas are viable until they balance the classes. Assassins with a teleport, 3 sec stun, snare and silence is not counterable in any way, shape or form for most classes. If they attack first in a 1 on 1 fight, they win, period. That's not something that can exist and have any sort of functional PvP.

I understand the need for melee classes to have a distance closer skill, but it should not be instant, or if it does, it should absolutely not have snare and/or stun associated with it. Range should have it's benefits, just like melee has armor benefits. To nullify range completely is effectively nerfing all ranged classes due to lower armor values.

I have said this before, but considering it's been a year I'll say it again. PvP is so screwed up in this game that they should probably just abandon the idea at this point. Yeah, PvP holds max level players better than anything, but with a player base of 40-200 players, I am pretty sure it's just too late at this point. All focus should be put towards keeping those 20 or 30 new players a day to keep playing.

Sorry for muddying the thread, but if everything were to be fixed, yeah, I would love to have better PvP maps. I just don't think "fixed" is ever going to happen at this point. I mean, I came back after a year, and PvP is exactly the same as it was. Exactly! All they did was increase the valor points given.

#873790 My suggestion list for the developers {Updated: 6/21/14}

Posted by ComradeLewis on 17 June 2014 - 20:06

Achievement rewards were suppose to be implemented. However, it's another one of those things that they left unfinished, just like so many other things. I believe you get 5 or 6 rewards for something like 300 or so achievements. They said something about adding a lot more stuff almost a year ago, but it never happened.

I really do wish they would spend their time finishing what they started, rather than programming completely new 5 man team content, that seems to be the same thing over and over. The game has enough team content. It needs solo content and for things left unfinished to be completed.

#870361 [Under Review] Solo ToC

Posted by ComradeLewis on 28 May 2014 - 04:55

I think a solo version of Trials of Champions would be a very good idea. I would rather do that than solo dungeons, or arenas.

Of course there would need to be a reduction in mob count or they would need to be more staggered. The loot already decreases for the number of players, so that needs no changing.

Would that really be that hard to implement? People are crying out for solo content, all you would have to do is allow entry for 1 individual and reduce the monster count for each wave (which it might already do, because there is less mobs for 2 players than 5).

So, it just needs coding to allow solo entry! Surely that won't take months, or days, or even hours, right? So, minutes of coding to make people stop crying about solo content. Sounds like a reasonable suggestion to me.

#867221 Sapphires need a buff

Posted by ComradeLewis on 07 May 2014 - 06:17

I am disappointed that this has gone unaddressed, when it's so important to keeping the game alive for level 45 players. If there is absolutely no reason for level 45 prophets, that have their robe set finished, to log on, then there is going to be no ASV, ARG, RG, BT runs for anyone else. That will lead to a general population loss for max level players.

Wouldn't keeping players playing be more important than another instance clone shoveled out for the masses to mindlessly consume?

#867219 Total lack of solo rewards in game

Posted by ComradeLewis on 07 May 2014 - 06:06

With all the nerfs for AOE grinding loot now in place, there really is absolutely no way for a player to earn loot in game while soloing. You can't have a game that is only playable in instances. There are people that enjoy an hour or two a day just hunting gems... or there were.

My personal experience:

1 hour AOE grinding with no loot pots gives 0-1 glimmering gem which has about a 50% chance of having no buyers (worthless gem) in game, and 1-2 green NPC loot items. Repair fee is around 20g on level 45 gear, yet the items NPC for about 12g. Therefore, you are in the red 8g and an hour wasted.

1 hour AOE grinding with 1 loot booster that cost 80ep netted me 1 glimmering ruby and 1 unsellable gem and 3 green drops. Repair fee was about 20g and the NPC items sold for 16g. If I spammed chat for 4 hours I could sell the ruby for maybe 90g, so I am in the red 74g for that run, along with an hour wasted.

What kind of game punishes players for playing? Over both methods I made more money and saved an hour by not playing at all! Why is the only way to make money and find glimmering gems require a team of 5 to do? Why punish players that want a bit of solo game time?

Don't even say that my DPS is the issue. My DPS is 1.5k and I have 3 AOE skills.

This is not a rant. You guys nerfed the AOE areas and drop rates so much that it's entirely pointless to try. You can't have any shred of an illusion of variety in the game if you don't give players an option to choose how and where they acquire their gems and money.

Current list of totally pointless endeavors:

TOC

Arena

PvP

WB

Trappers

Solo loot farming

ASV/RG (for prophets (sapphires are a joke))

Again, not a rant. I simply want the game I spent money on to be more than 2 instances in it's entirety.

#866012 Sapphires need a buff

Posted by ComradeLewis on 30 April 2014 - 04:05

Sapphire gems are almost entirely useless. I highly suggest a buff. If you had 3 of the top tier gem you would only gain 5% more healing power. Compare that to the loss of 16% haste for sacrificing haste rolls for sockets on 2 weapons. The gap between the comparison will only get worse when level 50 is released. As far as I know, there are not going to be more gem tiers in game, yet there is certain to be higher haste rolls on the level 50 dungeon weapons.

Furthermore, heroic and legendary weapons are difficult to come by, yet haste roll weapons are relatively easy. That makes running ASV and collecting remnants for crafted weapons a pointless endeavor, which in turn gives level 45 prophets nothing to do after they get their BT/RG robe completed.

I suggest that the top tier Sapphire gem should be around 20-25% of the healing power that a level 50 would have. My current healing power at 45 is 12330 with no Sapphires at all. I suspect a level 50, fully geared, would have about 14000 healing power. I would not trade 16-20% haste for anything less than 60% more healing power (combined with 3 top tier gems), considering the effort needed to get there.
