This is quite sad to read, but I'm not suprised.. I've been gone quite a long time but checking in on updates regularly, hoping to see some of the stuff that's needed for Eldevin and would bring me back.

I believe the wrong turn was sometime after Steam release, I felt the focus of updates was simply on Cosmetic stuff rather than content. Getting on Steam was the chance for Eldevin to grow massively if we had seen more content.

It hurts to see the team for this getting even smaller or extinct. I feel like the game is so close to being complete and then able to grow. Still hope that one or two contentupdates will happen and popularity changes.

I wish HCS and Eldevin the best. Hopefully you learn from this and can succeed with whaterver you do next or if you can manage to give Eldevin a try again.

So why isn't this thread posted on the Steam forums for the game? Seems kinda shady, as if HCS doesn't want the Steam community to know that development has slowed down.

I just started this game a couple of weeks ago, and I am level 14, so there is plenty to keep me playing, but I do find it extremely disappointing that this game is taking the turn a lot of Steam games do.

I wish the staff at HCS the best of luck, and definitely look forward to future communication and updates.

Good point. it hasn't been mentioned on facebook, neither the Eldevin game page nor HCS's own page.

Well, perhaps a nice things to think about HCS. Let us players recruit people for the game as well, but give us some nice rewards. Some people have facebook, websites and so on. Now we get 100 loyalty points when a recruited friend reaches lvl 5. Not really worth it. Fallensword has a good system for recruiting and getting old players back. Perhaps something for this game as well :)

Even you have cut down the effort for Eldevin, I still hope you find the energy to release 1 endgame at least. Further more, even without the workforce you are missing, I would wish, you were more open. Tell us that you stop or anything else. You will be loosing old players due to the lack of good information and that will fall down on the new players as well. Do you want the game to die? Tell us, then it can be done easily and quick. Or do you want a new start? Some people have put a lot of energy, effort (like Kyrion with the wiki site)  and money into the game. The least you can do is inform them more often and being honest about the situation. B)

And to all players, lets play and have fun. It is just a game, dont take all to serious. Enjoy and of course it is ******!  But hey, the shun is shining, my health is okay, I have plenty of lovely pleople, so the game is a succes to me already. Even if I cannt spend my ep's anymore. So HAVE FUN!!!! and hope for the best! ;)

This thread contains concerned player response to a somewhat vague development update from HCS.  As u state, there is plenty to keep one playing. Much of player response in this thread is speculation and sadness.  Why predict the death of the game by spreading negatives?

It's amazing to me how players can be so demanding about a free-to-play game. It doesn't take rocket science to realize that game developers are people and need a payday. The good thing about free to play is that u can quit when the game ceases to be fun for you with nothing lost except time which must have been fun enough to keep you playing to begin with.

That said, to put this thread into further perspective, much of it comes from players who have been supporters and have paid to play. They have legitimate gripes about the manner in which HCS has responded to the community.

Though HCS has been slow to respond, I am hopeful that they revisit their process with regard to Eldevin and make changes necessary to bring the game more in line with their needs and expectations. It's too early to say the game is dead.. there is just too much good in it to condemn it to the trash bin.

With such uncertainty generated from the announcement as to the future of Eldevin, especially after time it has taken to get to the stage it is at now. Could this mean less people becoming supporters, or spending real money buying EP if they think there will be no end anytime soon

If that happens, it could have the knock on effect of;

Firstly, raising the ep to gold ratio from what it is now at approx 1:3 or 300 for 1k gold in some cases, to ridiculous amounts of gold to buy small amounts of EP, and maybe to the extreme point where EP no longer becomes traded.

Secondly, buying regularly used items that can only be bought from the shop or other players who already have them and are longer in need of such as sacks, larger bags etc will be extremely difficult :(

This thread contains concerned player response to a somewhat vague development update from HCS.  My post contains a concerned player response to a somewhat vague development update from HCS. As u state, there is plenty to keep one playing. Much of player response in this thread is speculation and sadness.  My response in this thread is of sadness. Why predict the death of the game by spreading negatives? Although the game's death may very well be imminent, that was not the message of my post. I wasn't spreading negatives, I was asking about the TRUTH.

It's amazing to me how players can be so demanding about a free-to-play game. In my first and only post, I don't see how I was being "so demanding" about a free-to-play game. It doesn't take rocket science to realize that game developers are people and need a payday. No, it doesn't take "rocket science" to realize that game DEVs are people too who need a payday. I have already spent real money on this game, and just might spend more. The good thing about free to play is that u can quit when the game ceases to be fun for you with nothing lost except time which must have been fun enough to keep you playing to begin with.

That said, to put this thread into further perspective, much of it comes from players who have been supporters and have paid to play. I am a player who has supported this game and have paid real money to play it. They have legitimate gripes about the manner in which HCS has responded to the community. I have legitimate gripes about the manner in which HCS is communicating their developmental slowdown to the forefront of their community, on Steam.

Though HCS has been slow to respond, I am hopeful that they revisit their process with regard to Eldevin and make changes necessary to bring the game more in line with their needs and expectations. It's too early to say the game is dead.. there is just too much good in it to condemn it to the trash bin. I never said the game was dead, although, I say again, it probably IS imminent. I have not condemned it to the trash bin. I look forward to playing this game for months, possibly years ahead, and look forward to any future updates and developments from HCS.

I would like to thank HCS for putting this game out so I can enjoy it, and also, for approving my first post on the forums here. I personally look forward to the future of Eldevin.

Im not really sure what to say here to express my feelings..

Im not suprised or shocked, just saddened I guess.

Points have been made throughout this post that I agree with:

1) The game was still in its beta form and was never ready for release let alone steam release.

2) The concept of this game is excellent and had the potential to be massive

As many others have said, I do hope HCS make a note of the mistakes that were made along the way so that any similar projects dont suffer the same fate as Eldevin.

For now I would just like to say to my fellow Eldevians that it was nice to meet you all and hopefully we will cross paths again either here or in some other game along the way :)

Sup guys.  I speak for Gothadorians, and sorry to hear that you got Sigma'd.  Hang in there.  Goths servers are still up and you all are like 2 years and $ into it so I think you will survive if your community is strong.  I hope there are things to do in your game with out updates.  Welcome to the trash heap.  Peace ^^

I'm in no way shocked by this announcement, yet my heart did sink a bit when i read it. For those that complain that it should have been announced earlier, you have to take into account that this was truly HCS's baby. This project has been in development for at least 8 years that im aware of. Its not easy to admit failure in light of the countless hours devoted to it. Though i have been absent from the game for about a year now I always check the forums and its been a slow decline for a long time, with less frequent updates, and little content in those updates.

I'm sorry for those that were just getting into the game. I remember well when I first started and at that beginning you see the potential of the game, but as you go on you start to notice the monotony of the quest structure, the various fluff added to distract from a lack of substance, the complete lack of a trading economy, no ingame push to build a community (after all even if a game is crap, people will log on if there friends are there), and various other little things that have already been mentioned. You take all this into account and you look at what HCS is doing to ameliorate the situation. You'll see almost nothing is being done, the biggest complaints more often than not go completely unacknowledged, as if the problem will go away if they ignore it long enough. Well, closing their eyes and ears and going 'lalalalala' has got them to this point, and i noticed it a year ago and its why I stopped. I'm sad at the lost potential, but this is beyond overdue.

Learn from your mistakes and try again.

Edit: TL;DR - I called it.

BTW blissy you are welcome in my guild.  and considering i was OCD before guilds..... :P

also i'd have like 20 cats if i had the space and money\

O: uhm we always hear of the Cat Ladies but never the elusive creatures Cat Dudes (not sure what to call them lol).

You must be a rare breed my friend haha....

Me, I only have the one kitty but more then enough for me.  I"d have a small dog too if I could since me kitty can't go to the park with me and stuff lol.

haha well I know ocd peeps wouldn't be tossing my toons out unless they really need room and honestly I doubt that is needed at this time.  I know several are atm fooling around in a different game though not sure they ofc still play some eld too.

me, I"m still not up for checking in game but peeked at forum again lol.

and I take that invite as a standing invitation sooo's u never know haha.  I do have like 10 toons or something like that.
