I've wanted to put together an unbiased guide for joining a faction for a while. I am interested in some community feedback before I complete it, so I put together a basic intro and some talking points. Anyone have some thoughts for inclusion?

How to choose a faction

Factions are a great aspect of the Sigmastorm game.

While some players choose to go through the game experience by themselves (or "solo") most ultimately find themselves at a point in the game experience where they want to join a faction. There are many benefits a player gains from joining a faction, but choosing the right one for you can sometimes be an overwhelming process. This guide is intended to help narrow the selection process.

To lead or to follow
In sigmastorm, any player may start a faction after reaching level 16. By this level many players will have experienced a faction. Often in lower levels many players find a quick home in a faction which was put together by another lower level player who had become frustrated in finding top faction to join. Around this time in the game experience you will decide whether you wish to create your own or join another players faction.

Leading
Leading a faction is for the idealistic. However, it is also a great challenge and responsibility. If you wish to set up a small faction for you and some friends then the basic allowances provided will allow you and up to 7 other members to join together and have a chat room and build a couple basic structures. However, if you wish to compete or enjoy all the benefits of a faction. To completely unlock the member spaces and stat enhancing structures, plus enabling faction gear controls and establishing a tax rate to support the structures will cost 2,875FC. Additional upgrades to allow you storage spaces, additional ranks and more powerful squads can increase the cost of a faction to well over 5,000FC. Bottom line, is if you want to play the game aggressively, you will need to be prepared to raise several hundred dollars worth of FC. Soliciting from your members is acceptable, but it will not be fair of you to count on them to provide all of it. Likely a founder will be responsible for raising 50-75% of the FC. If you choose this route and intend to recruit from the new player base, be prepared to provide for your team. If you are not willing to make the investment, you will be doing yourself, your team and the community a disservice. Consider if the option is right for you.

Following
In Sigmastorm there is no shame in following another faction leader. If you take the time to get to know the leader and learn about the team you can likely find yourself in the company of people you will come to know as close friends. If you are looking for benefits to overall game play you will want to focus on factions that have made the investment to upgrade their structures and member base. These costly upgrades will provide you opportunities to have a higher max energy, deliver more damage and resist damage delivered as well as many other game enhancing benefits. Factions will often charge a tax, but the tax is well justified as it will often go directly into supporting the structures (and moreover yourself). The bottom line is to not join the first faction you come across and spend the time to research your faction options and join one who has a team you share interests with and who you will be comfortable journeying through Sigmastorm alongside!
