Xero--Just to correct you, there isn't double XP in effect. We've boosted XP for the early levels of the game in a bid to help new players enjoy the game more, get invested and hopefully play for longer. I'm sure everyone will appreciate we want to make an effort to increase player population.

all the way to 45 is early levels?

lvl 45 could very well be considered early lvls especially for chapter 2 in the future ;)

also it does take a significant exp stack of boosting just to notice a big difference.
double exp pot+ exp pot+ rested exp+ sub+ doubles

This change is to try and keep lower levels in the game for longer, we will look at the actual retention numbers over the coming weeks and can see (through science!) if it is working as the game needs it to.

Sounds serious, hope it works out for you guys and gets the desired result.

when i level'd my main to 45 i was a supporter didn't have a problem getting there at all in fact i still have heaps of quests from 36-38 that i need to finish...

but now i'm a noon supporter and the grinding I've had to do to make levels has been really boring. i haven't gone out and played with the double xp yet but i will say the 50% rested xp is really helpful in not having to grind quite as much while leveling :)

Look at other MMO's on the market and you would get multiple levels in that time through the same style of play. I'm of the opinion that previously our exp rates have been prohibitive to the vast majority of players.

While I understand your reasoning in this statement, I will say that my original attraction to Eldevin was precisely because it wasn't like other MMO's on the market, in that it had a semi-prohibitive grind. I enjoy the grind(even though I have far less time to play than I used to, I still prefer 'the grind' to having things handed to me casually), so seeing character advancement sped up even further disappoints me somewhat.

Since many MMO's on the market do certain things better than Eldevin, I would caution against making Eldevin more like other MMO's, since that takes away from the attractiveness of Eldevin as a unique, throwback experience.

I did a timed test this morning on my character. Bear in mind I have supporter. I spent twenty minutes grinding mobs and earned just under 10% of a level at level 35; with handing in one quest included. Granted I play these games like your more casual player, one or two mobs at a time.

At that rate you're talking around 3 hours of grinding to get a level at the mid range of the game. So before the recent change you're talking significantly longer than that if not quite twice as long. Look at other MMO's on the market and you would get multiple levels in that time through the same style of play. I'm of the opinion that previously our exp rates have been prohibitive to the vast majority of players.

This change is to try and keep lower levels in the game for longer, we will look at the actual retention numbers over the coming weeks and can see (through science!) if it is working as the game needs it to.

How about up until level 25, exp is at 200%. Then every five levels after that it decreases by 10+ percent? By level 50 it's back to 100% exp gain. Since the increase in experience is to keep lower levels in the game longer, just make the exp gain decline once the players have gotten used to the game. By level 25 I was doing fine in Eldevin. It doesn't have to be at level 25, or even a 10% decline. As you get to higher levels it should take more time to level up, wouldn't make sense IMO to keep levels gained at a steady pace.

If this idea interests you guys, please don't implement it until I reach level 45 ;)

quest just need to give us more xp at lower levels and there needs to be more of a reason to level up our character besides better stats and skills and opening new areas.

That actually makes more sense since this will encourage new players to do quests and actually consume content rather than mindless grinding.

meh i like it this way anyways tbh..I mean lets look at it this way....each character slot is $4...16 chars is $64 ok and each alt going 1-45 is going to be roughly 55-65 hours of playtime right...for avg. 16 chars going to that lvl is approx 1040 hours tbh...at the minimal for casuals,in any other game thats like 3x or even 4x the actual exp to max out...in this game maxing out is getting all chars there as anything else is just meh and not worthy of buying the slot for :) so i'm fine with how it is now in all honesty..more incentive for people to buy an extra char slot and lvl them that extra cash is going towards more staff in the future.

I'm happy the gods of Eldevin have shined down upon us and granted us double experience.  I hope that it's not permanent though, as it's another "easy button."  When I was level 20, I had to walk my way to an area, fight off mobs to forage and had a smaller camera view...players these days.  Geesh.

(maybe have double experience weekends every once in awhile to grant incentive.)
