I've always agreed that ladder hits should not be bountyable. If there's an issue with PvP smasher medal, then simply make it so you only get progress towards the medal when you hit on bounties and bounties only.

Last time I checked, Arena was a competition, but yet you still fight/kill other players to win (even though it's simulated), and when you kill another player (simulated or not) it makes it PvP. Now with GvG, yes it is a Guild vs Guild competition, but players are still attacking and killing other players for the 50/75/100 hits to complete the GvG competition, and those attacks make it PvP. And last the PvP ladder. You are competing against other players in your band to finish in the top 3-5 to get your rewards, and you do so by killing other players in your band, which makes it PvP.

Now all 3 of those competitions (Ladder, Arena and GvG) involve you hitting and killing other players to win, and by definition all 3 of those competitions are PvP. So either make every hit in all 3 of those competitions bountyable, or make none of the hits bountyable. I don't really know how else to say it with out "coming off as hostile or vile or rude" or what ever.

Or Nerf the Smasher Medal all together. Not sure who's grand idea that was, but it would have made more sense to apply to all 100 stam attacks, but that's another topic all together I reckon.

I totally agree with ya by definition.

If anything, GvG would be the exception as it sits more similar to random attacks. Meaning Arena and Ladder are voluntary choices to both parties involved. (The 1/1 meaning the interaction of combat).

Whereas in a GvG scenario, the party on the recieving end of an attack may have had no desire to participate in said event. Where is the risk/punishment there?

It's present only if the guild, or members of guild come together to atleast tie or defeat the initiating guild. In essence, facing a "double risk" if they fail to tie or defeat then there out with nothing to show for it, right?

Engaging in a VOLUNTARY activity is assuming the risk itself. Adding external risk is the paramiter of abuse and misuse.

Perhaps the application of bountyable hits was implimented with good intentions, but as with most all single character advancing activities, greed and manipulation of mechanics will always trump the "good intentions".

Just look back on the history of this game even in the short time I've been here, Same old turd, just warmed over.

Meanwhile, back on the farm....

I believe the topic of discussion is removing bounties from Ladder Hits with an emphasis on how, by definition, it's quite similar to Arena/GvG's.

some things you can let go live and see how they pan out. composing is dangerous because it destroys gear.....let it go live without perfecting it and watch how many mistakes people will make....lets continue our critique

How will exclusion from activities in game convince players to stick around?

You'll essentaily be forcing them to level up to participate in anything.

This question would seem better answered by those it will affect directly.

I had forgotten about the being able to bounty every hit change.

- I'm not a pvper so take these with a grain of salt.

What if:

 - Bountying while being a part of the ladder removes you from the ladder until the reset (the person setting the bounty, not the person being bountied).

and/or

- The ability to bounty a hit from a ladder attack is nullified at the usual time or at the end the time the ladder resets (whichever comes first)

Not a bad idea.

I'd compromise to this.

It's better than how it works now.
