Hi all,

 

We're making good progress with the Fallen Sword App beta but wanted to give you a list of milestones we're aiming for. For each milestone, we're aiming to release a beta version of the app for those that are interested to try out and give feedback on.

 

We aren't planning to make the game available on the App Store / Google Play until all the (core) features are implemented, but we want to be able to give early versions via the beta so we can make sure it works well before we open it up to everyone. Note the beta won't have final artwork, but the focus is ensuring all the game functionality is there!

We have a lot of the work done already and are hoping to have the v0.01 beta available late Feb / early Mar, but we'll keep you updated on the progress!

Can you elaborate on what you mean by 'new' and 'old' world? Will my existing character be able to be in two places at once (one spot on the mobile, one spot on the active version)? Just to clarify things, are these two games on the same server, as in whatever we do on one affects the other. And more importantly are people with existing accounts only allowed to have one account regardless of how many platforms they play on?

So your existing character would be able to play on the browser version and also the new mobile app, but we're also looking at adding a new 'world' to the game which you'd be able to have a new character in as well (which again you could play on both the browser and mobile) - the two worlds would have no interaction between each other however, but we would make it easy to switch between your characters  :)

So with this new world does that mean new guilds, ladders, rankings, and so on? Or will they be added on top of the current rankings, ladders and such?

It would be completely separate :)

 

You could choose to play in either (or both!)

You could choose to play in either (or both!)


So there will be seperate ranking systems?

No worries! Each of the worlds would have separate rankings - there would be no connection between the worlds.

Sounds great! How come the beta is open to IoS users before android? Just curious

While them having new and returning players flood the servers of the current 'world' it may actually be a better option to have seperate worlds

Updates would be applied to both instances of the game :)

Correct!

It would be a completely separate instance so the only interact would be with other players in that specific world. The forum would be the only shared thing :)

From my viewpoint (customer) a very risky business decision. You will half the community of a sort of healthy game "Fallensword" and create a second "server" with the same game but with updated everything. 

 

From my very humble perspective, it would be better to focus on making that beta app but at some point make it possible to Port over at least the complete character. Im not talking bout achievements or other things. But I doubt any of those big wallet whales would loose their attachement to their old account for the sake of something new where investments are mandatory just like in FS.

 

 

Same happened to a familiar game in which i got banned a year ago for using a keyboard mouse with macros short known as "RS"

heres what happened when they pulled the same thing off.

 

2 identical games were created. One that had the graphics of 2007 and everything with the same game dynamic but with new accounts and from scratch. Then there was the already 17 year old game that had the newest graphics the most content and the most players. It also was bot free to a point where you would not notice them. Game was still much critized because they did so many updates and not all of them were aknowledged as good.

 

so heres how it looks now and I can say that this is not the path I would like to see Fallensword fal into.

I hope you come up with a solution that incorporates both games in a way that they may at least interact with eachother or we would come to a crossroad where the game will part its gaming community and influx of players will be divided for the worst.

 

I dont think it would be very wise as a (developer) to splitt your community in such a way that it may even affect your long term monetary income from milking us (the customer). You did alot of ventures with investing in branches like Eldevin and such. Theres only so much shots you can take before you have to reload the barrel. And it seems you should think about the cash cow Fallensword in a way to still keep your already paying playerbase and aquire new ones at the same time. 

 

 

Options like:

 

- Promotional codes for new players only

- New player Ugrade draws 3 players from all the verified players who register in at that month are drawn for awesome upgrades for each starting month one time only.

- Epic quests and even richer content for lvl 1-300

- Random events for each player similar to the daily quests

 

 

youre the devs you gotta have some ideas how to improve a steady cash cow.

It isn't to create a 'new' Fallen Sword - if we were going that way we would create a new game, but more to create a way to play an additional character in World I and World II - don't worry about it too much as the moment as it's a while away and needs some thought on our side :)

my example was also not a "new" game. Its what the game industry describes as diversification, making more servers to reel in more revenue through new players or old players who wanna start out from scratch and dominate that "World 2" because the "World 1" is already full of upgraded people.

 

Those game designs are very short sighted and put a faster nail in the coffin than one can see, for in a long term perspective this will lead to a disruption and a sway into "world 1 or 2". It will ultimately fall into a merging of the worlds when both games will have poor population numbers and then you have either the option of closing that whole thing called FS, or try to merge it and have a 75% working system that would have been way healthier if you had solely focused on your main powerhorse which is as of now "Fallensword World 1" or "Oldschool Fallensword" or "TH3 R3AL FALL3NSW0RD"....

Of course and we appreciate it :)

 

I'd hope it would allow people to play more as they could essentially have two characters (one on each world), but we'll give it some thought first for sure :)
