world screen no updating?

28 February 2017 - 16:26

I just noticed during a DQ that the time counter on buffs was not updating unless I stopped to do a full reload of the window.

Unusually, the DQ counter was updating fine---just not the buff timer.

For the record, I did turn FSH/greasemonkey off when i first noticed, and it made no difference.

Lagging?

28 February 2017 - 16:22

Anyone else lagging badly?

I'd been managing to ignore lately becuase I wasn't needing to do much at any time. But it has just taken 30 minutes to walk 600 tiles in a DQ (3 seconds per tile), and they all had to be keyed individually as throughout that time clicking even 2-3 tiles away would lock it up with the "only move one tile" trap.

Unfortunately, this DQ requires 1500 tiles, so still a very long way to go...

walking quest / lightfoot bug

31 December 2016 - 01:22

[Edit: read no further! all has been resolved; what I describe below is not a bug, and the walking quests are working consistently]

This may be old news to many, but I haven't seen this resolution on the forum, so thought I'd post it to be safe (and apologies if I'm just duplicating things).

I know many people have asked about lightfoot stopping the ticker for the walking quests. On the other hand, I (along with others I believe) have reported that lightfoot has no affect on the walking quests.

Having had a couple of large walking quests lately (and doing them when there hasn't been lots of lag generating "can't move more than one square" messages), I've realised that it depends on how you do the walking.

If you do the walking with keyboard strokes, then every tile visited counts one towards the quest, regardless of whether ligthfoot fires or not. On the other hand, if you click on the map and let the map do the walking for you, then tiles traversed count to the walking quest ONLY if they also use up stam (i.e. ONLY if lightfoot does NOT fire).

Presumably this inconsistency is not intended.

[PS I did check, and this is not FSH related: it persists even when FSH is switched off.]

Comments on "List of Daily Quests"

27 October 2016 - 17:06

For some reason, BG keeps demanding that anything other than a descrition of the quest itself is "off topic" in the "list of dailoy quests" thread. Personally, the main reason I read a thread like that is to see how others reacted to their quest. But since BG expresses an official view, I figured we need to start a thread for which those comments are completely on topic.

So...

Daily Quest
[ Common ]
Invent 30 items
0 / 30
Gain +350 Current Stamina

This is preposterous!

If you look at my earlier post (/index.php?showtopic=74716&p=970823) you will see that you can invent vespine viper amulets at level 4 for about 5 stam & 1k gold per item---which makes this quest a cheap way to buy current stam.

I also have my eye on bite serum (half the gold but twice the stamina, reduced with the resource/inventing buffs), or the elya guard edge (requires no gold and two drops which are quest items, so amenable to quest hunter).

This quest isn't preposterous. It just takes a bit of time in the UFSG to identify a workable strategy.

Inventing ignores craft and folders

13 October 2016 - 16:46

Why is it that inventing ignores both crafting and backpack folders?

Or why is it that there isn't some way to select which items will get used when inventing?

(Or is there a way and I just didn't realise?)

I've just been inventing a series of items - thinking all along that I was saving a couple of perfect items in a storage folder. Somewhat belatedly I discovered that those perfect items had been used in the inventing before some of the poor items. I note from the inventing page that it will use unforged items first (and presumably less forged before more forged?) Why does the same thing not happen with crafting?

How do people with very big backpacks avoid this problem?

I guess this is well known to some, but having just been bitten I thought I was saving, it seemed civic-minded draw attention to it just in case anyone else was as naive about this as I
