take your time. You should be interviewing that factions as much as they are interviewing you.

Nothing bad will happen to you if you do not join a faction. Although, leveling will be much more difficult and expensive in the long run. It will also me a bit more of a lonely journey. I do recommend joining a faction. Focus on personality types. Also do not be lured into investing into a faction which has not demonstrated an investment in itself. Such factions are often lead by well intentioned but uncommitted leaders. Ultimately it results in a faction that struggles and where people feel taken advantage of which is no fun for anyone and diminishes the game experiences. Do not be fooled. Although factions are free to make, they are incredibly expensive to make viable and even more expensive to make successful. There are plenty of factions who will take you in which have already made the investment. They will be wanting to see that that you have made some investments in yourself. That is what the best factions desire in their member (IMO). I am in Rottk, in answer to your first question.

In rottk, no one pays to enter. Personality is what is important as well as ability to rise to the ranks of being a top player (even if down the road). The hard part is proving your character when a spot is open. There are many other great factions which presently have openings though. Good Luck and take your time.

I think that a good faction should be free of cost to the player. Those crystals are better spent on improving your character. Browse around, but don't be in a hurry to join one until you have checked out a couple of them.
