Chaotix slipped inside the abandoned cult building. All he needed was one more gem to complete the trade. Just one more. He had a substantial reward waiting for him when he got back.

Everyone thought the squigglets were gone after that last invasion, but they were wrong. Not much of an invasion if you asked him. A bunch of foot high worms crawling about gothador wasn't something to get too worked up about. But those gems in their "foreheads", those were worth a fortune.

He had seen a glimpse of the squigglet last night as he passed by the cult square. He just needed one more gem and he was going to get it tonight.

He looked around the cult building. Not much of a hang out. A layer of inch thick dust covered everything and spiderwebs hung in intricate designs across the ceiling. However, the lack of inhabitants would help him greatly in this instance. He peered around until he spotted what he was looking for. Cut through the dust was a clean trail made by what appeared to be a half foot worm.

Perfect, just what I was looking for. He carefully followed the trail up a stairwell and down a long hallway where it abruptly ended in the middle of the passageway.

What the H-, but the thought never got out as the squigglet fell from the ceiling where it had been hanging and began gnawing on his armor.

Now little is known about squigglets except these two things:
1. They are vicious little fighters who come in great spawns and try to ravage everything in their path.
2. They have the fighting ability of a wounded poodle and unless you're a naked newborn human, they're not going to do much damage to you.

Chao drew his ice dagger and was about to stab the thing in its side when it suddenly found a chink in his armor that he had been meaning to patch for ages now. The squigglet suddenly slid inside and began to nibble on his toes.

Angry Chaotix kicked the wall of the building but just then the squigglet slide back out of his armor and all he succeeded in doing was banging his toes.

Furious Chao grabbed the squigglet and shook it with all his might like a baby might a rattle. The creature stunned grew limp in his hands. He raised his dagger and was about to strike when he noticed the gem in the little squigs forehead. It was green, the gem he needed was yellow...

Sighing he lowered the squigglet to the floor and left it lying there still stunned.

"You fought a brave battle little one, and for that I won't mindlessly slaughter you," he said to the tiny little creature.

Sighing he left the abandoned cult and journeyed back to mainstream goth in hopes of finding that gem.

Chaotix slowly walked along the frosted ground of the frozen north. Bundled up tight his wolf skin cloak he surveyed his surroundings. All manner of creatures peeked up from their homes or their stopped to watch him as they hunted for prey of their own.

Today was a slow paced enjoyable day. He had switched from his nightmare cleaver to his overlord lash, a bit less kick to it, but more flashy. He was hunting ice drakes. The little stinkers didn't offer much of a challenge but they did drop a very rare bar sometimes from their horns. Most of the ice drakes horns were ordinary bone, but sometimes, they were made of ice crystals that preserved their cold in the hottest environments.

There was a market for these little bars right now. Most people had stopped hunting the creatures as they weren't worth their time and the drop rates were very low. So he figured he'd go out today and see how many of the bars he could grab. If anything, it should help line his pockets a bit.

His luck hadn't been holding out too well. After killing over 150 of the little squealing reptiles he had only been able to get 9 drops. The bars were worth much much more when sold in groups of ten and he was determined to get that bonus price.

Off in the distance, right over the hillside he spotted yet another drake. This was a stroke of luck, it was getting late and the drakes would soon go back to their roost. This was probably a straggler, the last of the group. He slowly advanced on the creature, inching forward.

But when he was about 150 yards away, something to his left caught his eye. It was a small, furry, dark creature. In the frozen north there were very few things that looked like that, much less managed to avoid people's detections. It could only be one thing.... a fear!

He eyed the drake and then the fear, a chance to round of his ice collection, or add another fear pelt to his collection? What to do? In a second the drake would fly off and he would lose his chance...

Then to make matters worse he saw another figure in the distance. Another hunter... a transcendant it looked to be, a female. She looked familiar... very familiar. Then something clicked into place. The angel he was staring at happened to be one of the most powerful mages in all of goth... and she had spotted the fear.

That made up Chaotix's mind for him. Sprinting away from the drake he started in on the fear. He knew that he didn't have nearly enough time to change his equipment so he pulled out his wildcard, a vial of omni-blast.

These suckers were one of the more scarce magical items in goth. They dealt unimaginable amounts of damage to everything but its user. Quickly he sheathed his weapon and readied the vial. Poised, he hovered above the bunny ready to strike.

At this moment 2 things happened. First the angel swept in and managed to snag the fear. With a more than fair amount of grace and skill we managed to strike the bunny down before either the prey or her adversary knew what had happened. About 5 seconds later, Chaotix dropped the vial and massive destruction shook the site.

The smoke eventually cleared and the angel stood looking at him questioningly.

"A bit extreme don't you think," she asked with a smirk on her face.

"A bit... maybe..." he said sheepishly, the heat of the moment gone.

"Seems an awful waste of a vial hun. Don't worry there's plenty for all of us."

"Yeah," he let out a light laugh, it's been a long day.

"Well, I just wanted the pelt, you can have whatever the damn thing dropped," and with that she flew off, carrying off the fear in a leather bag.

Chaotix watched the angel depart and then slowly sat down in the snow. It had been a long day with some rather unexpected events... Letting out a sigh he slowly rose and began looking for whatever the bunny had dropped.

OOC: Thank you for the compliment moonshine.

Chao walked home sore from sleeping on the ground. Instead of staying in his warm room in the cult haven he had decided to instead camp out in the braskin plains. The very very hard soiled braskin plains.

Normally the braskin plains were a wonderful place. Large, beautiful and peaceful he enjoyed just spending some time there to gather his thoughts. That was, if an invasion of creatures hadn't decided to invade his place of solitude.

It had started off like any other day. He was taking a nap in a field when a body very unceremoniously had stepped on him. "What in the name of the kraken's teat?"

It was a warlord, and not a very skilled one from the looks of him.

"Sorry hunting..." it said.

Raising and eyebrow he stared at the creature. "Hunting what?" he asked. "All the best things are in the liar these days."

Without saying a word he warlord pointing behind him. Turning around the elf had a split second before the top half of his body was engulfed in the mouth of a very large drake.

The creature tried to pierce through his armor, but only succeeded in slobbering on him. Drawing his scythe from his side he rapped the drake smartly on the snout. The creature dropped him with a whimper and stood looking at him. It then started towards him again mouth open.

"Enough!" he yelled. "You and you," he said pointing to the warlord and the drake. "Settle this somewhere else!"

Staring at him the elf brandished his scythe. "Now!" The two left slowly sinking into the distance. Sighing contently he settled down to resume his nap.

Moments later two angels fell on him from the sky. "What is it now!"

"You stole my kill, I was about to finish it off!"

"That was my kill! You just showed up out of nowhere!"

"Yeah, well wait till everyone hears about what a kill stealer you are!"

Rolling his eyes he shook his head and warped out of the realm. He was now walking home and his eyes were greeted by the beloved sight of his cult haven.

"Home sweet home..." he murmured. Reaching his room he plunked down on the bed and closed his eyes.

Moments later a voice rang out. "Hey Chao!" Without thinking he whapped the person with a pillow. Looking up he saw a very cross GMBH standing there, feathers now floating around his head.

"Now that was unnecessary," the angel said. "I was going to offer you some talons from the last invasion, but I think I'll reconsider now."

Sighing the elf shook his head and laid his head back down again finally letting sleep overtake him.

OOC: Sorry GMBH, but I thought you'd be okay with me using your name in a minor role. Plus I think you'd look good in pillow feathers :)

An excerpt from the book I am writing. I hope it amuses.

Knock, knock knock, came the resounding sound from outside of her door. Gael put down the book she had been reading and went to answer it. Opening the door revealed the smiling face of one young elf. “Yes?â€

The Autumn Rose festival. Chaotix yawned and stared at the surroundings as elves from the five kingdoms began to pour into the main pavilion. It was only twice a year that the kingdoms gathered in celebration, the second being the beginning of spring.

The sun was setting and the golden amber light cast a gentle glow over the kingdom. Through the crowd he managed to pick out a select few individuals from the academy. All the students were currently given a months leave to enjoy the holiday. Chaotix was ambivalent. After his initial visit with his mother, he had little left to do. His father, as always, was once again away.

Most others had crushes, girlfriends, or even fiancées to visit. The worst part of moving through women like quicksand was that it left him with no one. Hopping down from the tree he moved through the fairgrounds, observing his surroundings. The area was adorned with festive colors and all buildings were garlanded with wreathes of flowers. The smell of baked goods complimented the fragrant smell of the flowers.

His ears heard faint strains of music and as he came closer he saw the band of drow playing and singing on a tall tier. Other of their kind were dancing in the square, and although the occasional other kingdomer could be found interspersed, it was mostly a sea of dark hair.

Watching the dance brought a smile to his face. Each concentric circle moved in harmony with its counterparts. A dancer could only move in when invited by a member of the next closest ring. Staring at the crowd his eyes turned to a young drow sitting on a nearby wall watching the dance. Making a split second decision he sauntered over to her, sitting next to her on the wall.

Stealing a sideways glance he sized up his object of interest. She was pretty, but not too pretty, her looks still catching up with her potential. Like most drow she had dark raven hair with eyes to match. The most striking feature was the sad frown on her face which had attracted him in the first place.

“If you’re thinking about making a move on me perhaps you should look elsewhere.â€
