Yea BG has said he's been busy. Sure isn't with FS. Been months since he's said he's been working on stuff and it's not done. Leads me to believe FS is going to go through another dry period like when eldevin was being developed...idk if it can take another dry period... it might die.

 

I'm afraid that I will have to agree with you here.

 

So much stuff "promised", so much stuff "known about, but not done" and, other than content and a few new LE's here and there, very little actually done :(

 

I REALLY hope that we're not going thru the lean patch that we did whilst Eldevin was developed, 'cos that certainly doesn't seem to have been worth the effort ? (just checked and there's a whole 75 players online).

 

OR, if we are, that the (mythical?) new game is truly something this time around ...

They should hire someone with the sole job of marketing/advertising. Think that would do wonders. Don't believe they do. Was a miracle i found this game to begin with.

I'm hopeful that we'll have it playable as a beta by the end of the year (not all the features of the game however). I'm seeing it more as a companion app initially so you can play on the move as well as on your computer / laptop. Eventually it would be great to have all the features, but I think focusing on the core of the game (ie. moving around the map, attacking creatures etc.) would be a good first step to have out there. Just thinking out loud on this.


Such a let down.. mobile devices alreqdy handle the game alright.. just deal with the mouse overs and out of date World...

..if you keep putting off upgrading the game, it'll be buried among the 100s of new games coming out every month..

Simplify the game's interface and interaction... seems like players have to work too much to play

Focused on implementing Daily Quests at the moment, but aiming to have a beta of the app before the end of the year :)

Sweet that's pretty soon :). Out of curiosity do you have any new teasers. Snap shots on how it'll work etc? Really interested on how it's going to be formatted. Especially the world map. I'd love to be able to hunt efficiently from tablet.

A phone app seems like the way to go for many mature web-based games like Fallen Sword. However, I just don't think it is a good investment for the studio in particular. Games such as Ikariam, Gladiatus, etc. - all the great titles of the past have made their way to the mobile gaming market; but did they really change the situation of the game?

 

The mobile gaming market is similar to "Fast Food Gaming". They rise as quickly as they go. Everyday, there are thousands of new gaming apps trying to capture the market share. There is even a sub-market where developers just COPY others' ideas then make a very similar game to make money in short terms.

 

I am quite new to Fallen Sword; but I knew about its "Golden Age" where thousands of players online at a time. This is a great game with a loyal community. The thing that the game is lacking is not public exposure; but core game mechanic makeover. Personally, I really like the new way of moving around the world map. But what about other cool features that new-gen video games are adopting such as: PET system, Build a castle, gathering resources, build a home, many crazy ideas!!

 

In short, the developers should really focus on one idea at a time, and make it right. There are still plenty of gaps that can be developed.

 

We are thankful that HunterCow keeps the game running for a decade. Not many developers are brave enough to do that.

core mechanic makeover.-  way way way to late for that..we have to hope and pray for a coding update once a year..this game and most all the aspects of the game rely of players..many number of players..players online dropping greatly this past 2 months shows players are tired of waiting and waiting..therefore killing most aspects of the game.. this phone app had better work miracles in getting players to join AND STAY ..key factor...get them to stay...past the first 5 minutes usually..is this phone app going to do that ???  best make that first impression a doooooozy.

This ain't a new gen game, it's an old school browser game.

We don't need to build castles or farms, we gather resources (plants, etc) to invent things, ad infinitum. If you want those types of things, I think Eldevin may have them.....


Personally, I play on a tablet now, but for over a year, I played via phone. It took ages to hunt, as the "new nap" doesn't work well on tiny phones. An app is a great idea for people like me with no computer....

I mostly play on my phone now. The standard version. I can't get to a computer. I have no problem playing. Its just like playing on a computer, only smaller screen.

So I hope whatever happens when it does happen. Does Not mess up the way I play now

That is my one problem with playing on my phone. Its Moving around the Map. I can only move on the new map where I want to move, if I don't minimize it. Which means I can't see the whole map like I can on a comp screen. If I minimize the map then touch the screen where I wish to move to. It moves all the way across the screen, not to where I touched.

I don't know after reading some of the comments on Facebook. Apparently Facebook feedback is, you can't see which Guild members are online. You can't get to the auction house or the potion bazaar. You have no buff options, and can not get to the market place. If anyone has downloaded the app on Android, could you expressed to us how the gameplay is for you? I'm kind of curious :-)

That 'app' was never fully released, believe apple rejected it and dont think it was in the google play store long..

2012... oof.. they should of committed to the app.. think where the game would of been by now.. the cows have really shot themselves often in the foot by not progressing in a timely fashion with the technology..

2016 is over halfway done. will it be 2017 or 2018 before an app.. with the advancement of portable devices, will an app be necessary by the time its released..

you should know by now..whatever time frame they say..add many months...if you go to that link in post #74..you will see that back in june- a cow got on facebook and said it would be only a couple more weeks for phone app....8 weeks later nothing...could be 8 months later the same...i am sure you read where hoof is now shooting for end of year for app..as you just said in post above me...by the time this game makes it to a phone app...something new will be out...cows are not keeping up with technology...

 

and new phone app will do ZERO good, if they dont fix the game and the many aspects of the game that are dead now...mostly due to lack of players...new phone app players will join..see a dead game..and leave within 1 week,  if they last past the first 10 minutes....fix the game between now and end of year..

 

.but how can they fix it, if they keep thinking that everything is ok..???  impossible to convince a cow..bg or hoof that the game has some serious issues with playability on many aspects- they think arena is ok..it is dead..they think ladder is ok..it is dead..they think bb is ok..bb is dead..i could go on and on...they think the game is doing ok...how are they going to fix it with that thinking...

wow, even worse..lol....i did not even notice that was june 2012....i thought it was this june..as early this year they were acting as if the app would be done by now...and now we hear end of year...we all have been thru this before...remember the dev map..never was anywhere close on dates..

We'll be posting an update on this very soon with a roadmap of what each version of the upcoming beta is going to feature.
