Hello all,

So, over the past while I've been slowly hoarding more and more epics as I either secure them or just get a great deal in the AH. And I've noticed every since Titan Hunter came about, the market value of every epic has gone down. For obvious reasons. I've also noticed that this has hit the market for every single item in the game.

I was curious if the idea of retiring titans has been brought up, and if the community could bring some Pro's and Con's to the table.

IDEA:

Have select titans per community/admin approval become retired. Meaning their spawn rate be brought to 0% forever. Give the community a fair amount of notice for each titan on this list, so TKP can be utilized as much as possible. This gives the community room to start a trade business in epics again, and also makes it so Epics are valued as Epics again.

I remember a time when players that had a full set of epics was considered wealthy. I also remember the motivation that gave me to earn each of those epics.

Thanks for listening and I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Also,

This gives more room to have newer titans introduced into the game without completely flooding the market on Epics.

Hello,

I think that titan hunting is a part of the game that should stay, however my thought on it is sort of this instead of retiring old ones do something else like,  new titans that are (insert back story, father, mother, son, so on) that will drop/ get with tkp epics that are used to upgrade the old ones,  With a hiccup make it so the upgrade only last X amount of time it could be  LONG but it would keep the titans fresh over time you could even make it stack-able aka get x time for upgraded and add x time for every one after that again just a add on thought to yours.

Titan doubler has definitely increased the number of titans that have been killed (and in turn, could also increase more spawns), but it's not the pure reason that epic prices have dropped.

As you stated, prices have continually dropped in the game, which means there is an issue with supply/demand. Supply > demand, so prices drop to an equilibrium price. You can certainly drop supply with your method, but the bigger issue is that demand is not increasing that much (ie new people playing the game).

I would say continue to hold onto the epics if you want with the idea that either 1) they might be upgrade-able in the future (much like the inferno hammer), or 2) once the mobile app gets introduced, there might be a whole new wave of players.

Based on past experience with SE's, I don't think the "retiring" of titans really does much. If you look at the seasonal titans, their prices are only marginally better than normal titans. The main thing is that as new epics are introduced that replace older ones, the older ones drop in value. Once an item that has more stam gain per hour than another item is introduced, older items drop.

I'm personally against it because I love the option of hunting titans whenever I want (whether it's cleaning up or not). If we retire titans, there needs to be a continual influx of titans to offset the ones that are "retired", otherwise, it kills another fun part of the game for me.

So, no ulterior motive then ? ;)

As Kedyn said above, supply and demand determines the price and when there's a large supply and a small demand, prices tank. Culling titans isn't the issue here, restoring demand via attracting & retaining new players is ..

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

Personally I think no Titan should be removed from the game forever. maybe, if there were enough in a certain level, swap them out now and then sort of like the SE's. If that even. Like Pardoux said though, the amount of Epics in game exceeds the number of players needing them, so the prices have dropped. Especially on older Epics that have been around awhile.

One thing that affects prices is the number of spawns. When one titan spawns every hour 24/7 that places a LOT of Epics in game.

My 2 cents!

Not sure if this is a good idea. For example, I cannot afford the price of many Epic items, so I go hunting them but I cannot secure the titan as I play solo. If you remove some titan, I would never be able to have some Epic items. The best way is to collect some TKP to buy an item. It can take longer to get the item, but eventually I will. If you remove titan I wouldn't be able to get the item, ever.

Hi there.

Don't think we'll be doing this, no. We have just introduced the Tiered concept. This is likely how we'll move forward with Epics.

Grim, I think it's a great idea for the tiered epics. I'm glad you guys have started to do this, as it will allow some people who want that bonus to continue to upgrade their items if they want.

While planning the tiered concept, can we please keep in mind the inventable epics, and look at possibly the way to empower them as well? Currently, there is a want/need for the GVG items because of the newest inventable epics being some of the highest stamina gain items in the game. If the tiered epics concept outpower those items, then you'll see a drop in the demand of the GVG items. Some of the older items are already out of date (ie Blue Man of War Sword, and other lower level epics), and I don't want to see that happen when we start introducing other tiered items.

Hey.

Nothing stopping older GvG Epics being Tiered in the future too though, right? ;)
