I would say that if a few more people contributed then topics would be a lot less back and forth between 2-3 players. That's the whole point of the forum, and the update concerns all classes and not just purists.

No, the topic would still be a back and forth. Everything i would have said is there already. Repetitive.

And as much as the update concerns all classes the (fruitless) discussion is only on one thing - MS. Any argument you can bring in has already been said. Its more like "Im right. No i am. No, you are not. Yes i am..." Even arguing doesnt work if one side refuses to acknowledge some basic things.

I was a cyborg in the beginning, and then a purist for over 150 levels. Now i changed back to cyborg, so i can say a bit about both classes (well, didnt do regular leveling with L210 cyborg). But i feel it wouldnt help in any way.
I could say that purist MS is the lazy way of playing (at least for me it was), or that i never had problems leveling. Or that it was silly easy to kill elites. Have been said already? Hmmm... Evo points as purist? I had about 100 in att, 60 in def and 180 in dmg. ~50 in HP from former cyborg life. So according to the thread really suboptimal distribution. Never had a problem. Neither in leveling, let alone killing elites.
Efficiency? What a laugh when you can reach EOC so easy.
Cyborg ./. Purist? Yep, higher dmg but at the price of investing heavily (700+) in classskills. Let alone only using only hardwired gear to get that needed boni. Not only you loose flexibility but its also more expensive regarding upgraded gear.

But would have that changed anything in the threads? I doubt it...

Kind of amazing when you read it. How much the other classes feel the purists should just roll over and accept what all the other classes feel is right for them. Any time a actual purist gave any impute. They were dissected into little bitty pieces to shut them up.

So congrats if you actually managed to read any of it.

it is interesting though. I have been really speaking on behalf of purist to get MS back on elite (at least 1 shot), and give stackable shard (and MS counter which was mates's idea) from the very first. I was purist for about 30 lvls. (110-140 ) and some of it was when MS was really powerful. (almost never died including doing elite hunt) but it did get bit boring and really did not need much thought on how to play. when soldier was updated, I made the change. Even now, many like being purist and will stay with it.

when I was asked about my setup, I more than graciously obliged including making changes as I was asked to show what my stats are. I always try to be fair, but dislike being taken out of context. there are strength and weakness to all classes as it should be. otherwise, majority will play one class. (like it was with purist) only change that was made was that purist lost easy HK solo.(which was disctinctively unfair), having to use psi weapon (duh) and got small offensive buffs in return where they had none.


after all is said and done we have better balance between classes. I really think whole thing is way blown out of proportion.

Agreed. Most of the people accused of arguing "against" purists were up front VERY early in the threads saying some of the changes went too far in reducing the power of MS. To read that thread as purists vs. others is to not be really reading the thread.

I was with the purists in arguing for a lot of stuff. Unfortunately 1 purist seems (single handedly) to conjure up problems and inequalities that aren't there. I feel the need to point that out, otherwise the Cows might make more ill informed changes.

Nestor - if you posted to the thread that you were fine with only 180 damage as a purist I think it would help.

ahhh darn, and here i thought i'd borrow some so i could stop myself from responding to the last post on the highest FXP accomplishment thread and saying what i really think.... been holding myself back a few hours already
