Sure maybe there are people complaining that crafting and gathering is tedious or something, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing for the game and to whoever those people who didn't like the way gathering and crafting before this update and was complaining.... well you guys are just lazy.

Unfortunately, just like TA, no matter what is done, there will always be some who complain. The art is to filter out the "minority moaners for the sake of moaning" from the "moaners with a genuine gripe that is felt by the whole playing population" and fix things accordingly.

When in doubt. Blame lag ;)

Steve summarised all my thoughts very well so thanks for that steve.

Mojawk please change professions back to how they were.

More importantly please add something to make ToC, PvP, arena, plasma lord, and world bosses worth doing instead. Give us something more to do at eoc.

If your real aim is to end the game then just get on and do it. Refund a months supporter status and any recent purchases and then switch off the servers and close the game.

a months supporter and only recent purchases? what about the people that played from the start on the promise of regular updates and level 50 content?

I can tolerate ignorance, but i cannot stand stupidity

Exactly.

All the players who payed to be supporters up to this point to gain 25% increased experience and 25% increased profession experience will now find out that anyone who plays for free from now on will gain even more xp than previous paying supporters did. If this update is going to stay, will HCS be refunding those who have payed to support the game.

I can see this update is likely going to hit HCS hard in the pocket from now on as even less players will pay real money to support the game when they can get so much xp for free. Which will have the knock on effect for the present players as there will likely be less chance of any updates due to lack of financial support.

I think Steve has made  a strong case for why this update is bad for HC and players alike.  As a long time supporter and one who finds gathering and crafting kind of relaxing... l feel the changes destroy the feeling of accomplishment and have taken the interest away from doing them at all.  BTW i have heard from a couple former RS players that they love the Crafting and Gathering in Eldevin.   If it aint broke don't fix it!

Please return the Gathering and Crafting XP and drops to their previous state asap.

Was this update actually thought through before implementing?

I personaly think

  • Increased the experience reward granted for completing all quest.
  • Slightly increased the experience gained from gathering resources.
  • The skill level required for gathering resources has been reduced significantly.
  • Greatly increased the experience gained for crafting.

are a very bad idea, for several reasons.

Firstly it is a bit of a slap in the face for all the players who have worked so hard the last few years, to reach the levels they are at present, when the new players can reach the same levels with far less effort and time.

Secondly as the setup was, players had to work to reap the benefits of their labours, and could have a real sense of achievement as they went up the levels, but making it easier will just mean everyone will have lvl49 characters with lvl49 professions all round in next to no time and so you will get even more players banging on HCS's door for level 50 to be brought out.

Thirdly, this will also mean, players will bypass dungeon armour sets even more than they do now. For example, by the time a player has got all the relics for his lvl20 vault set, he will already be at lvl 25 looking at GC gear or maybe even near level 30, and so on up the levels. Infact, players may end up ignoring all dungeon sets as they are levelling up that fast till they go for level 48/49 armour. This will make all that time and effort HCS put in to create dungeon sets a total waste of time.

On top of all that, if players level up any faster, we will just end up with new players joining, levelling up, then leaving a month later because they have done it all and are now bored.

And finally with the faster gain in xp, there will be less incentives for players to buy xp boosters or sacks etc so less people buying EP, which means less revenue for HCS.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rounding up it up. Fixing bugs and finishing the game is great, I whole heartedly agree with that, but I see no sense in making the game easier. It is bad for the present players, bad for retention of new players and bad for revenue for HCS.

I'd suggest leaving it with this greaterxp setup for a week or two then reverting back to normal. That gives me time to get 6  of my alts from lvl42 to 49 easily

I AGREE :)

honestly they should fix the min levels back to what they were.  and the exp for foraging a little higher? a well as greatly increasing craft exp?   no.    slight increase in craft exp maybe.   maybe.

as it is if the level reductio for crafts was reduced due to players not getting quest mats a lot of people give away free, and if not?  then it forces them to at least level 1 or 2 professions or have to buy them.  simple game economics.  its like i tell all the new players i help out.  getting and leveling a few skills only helps you more,

and yes now that you get more exp from crafts, gather, and quests you will likely get less people to support the game.

the other actual bugs.  glad you fixed those.

Hi everyone, I'm a new player, start playing about 2 weeks ago I think; and I enjoy Eldevin a lot, I've also bought some things in game to show my support. Anyways, I thought that despite being a new player I want to give my two cents on the update.

Basically the update that changes the levels you get from gathering kinda breaks the game for me. For example right now I'm gathering ham to train my cooking and skinning, while raising my overall level. And to do so I have been killing sewer slugs in level 2 of Eldevin City. However after the update I've been getting rumps instead of either soft meat or ham depending on the level of slug I killed. The problem is my cooking and farming are too low to make use of the rumps. I know I can level them up but the thing is I felt that the older system was more balanced because your crafting and gathering skills run in tandem. In fact I felt that the crafting skills were slower than the gathering skills!

The problem with it is that your either set of skills will eventually overshadow the other set because you'll spend all that time gathering lower leveled items if you're crafting thus potentially making crafting higher levelled thus causing an imbalance, while if you spent time leveling the gathering skills you will take a while longer to have crafting catch up.

An easy solution as far as I'm concerned is to balanced both to be easier, however I agree with Steve, it may drive away players sooner because they max quicker. I intended to play Eldevin for as long as I could until I maxed, and perhaps try the endgame, but this is a bit unbalanced for me.

Just thought I could share my perspective as a new player.

Also all of you who posted and level 49 and henceforth are intimidating me :P

Well they have all these new tweaks in, might as well leave them now for a few months to see if the game player base picks up. Maybe they want all the new people to rapidly catch up to end game to generate activity there.

After a few months, it can be revisited, the game is already dead, so how can this do anything worse. All the hardcore people already got ages of enjoyment having everything learned and all the resources etc. I am not seeing any new people coming out or mid levels with one character say they do not like it. Just really really really really old players.

But I do find it awesome how hcs just power ahead with random tweaks out of no where as usual. Reminds me of the good old days when the game had a pop. Keep on rocking hcs.   :D

As I said earlier, it wasn't gathering that's broken, at least from a beginning-medium player's view. It's that you could not raise production to make use of what you gather. I can almost prospect Iron, but just last night I first got to use Bronze for anything. And why does Weaving raise Farming, while no gathering raises Tailoring?

Right now there is no difference for me between Northam Pigs and level 40 creatures., unless the whole wiki has been redone. I'm too dumbfounded to even try Foraging and other skills. There was already not much differentiation between levels of resources. E.G. Bronze acts just like Copper, but with higher character levels. Now, I get 6-10 Soft Meat from a Chicken! Then I get to travel to Northam Farms for every Rump I need to raise Cooking and Leatherworking  for 3 or 5 (it's unclear) levels. Yet the high levels, who are bored, now get the Haunch and Tough Hides delivered right to the door of the city. How does that even make sense?

I'd like to see the whole change backed out until some real thought and feedback has been put into it. It's horribly implemented. I'll wait to play until that happens. Seriously. This is not even *close* to the game I enjoyed until two days ago. This seems to be another game (I've played 4 or 5) where the devs/programmers seem to think they are the only ones who know what the players want, or only ask a few friends. Perhaps coincidentally, they are all dead games.
