PvP balance proposal

As an adept pvper, I would like to suggest a few changes to some talents as the current situation favours a "one against everything" build that can counter anything else. With just 8 points in prophet tree (to upgrade Serenity) and a shield, you can negate almost all type of damages. I will also include a few more minor suggestions to other classes.

 

The first point is that upgraded Serenity is really cheap to use and even in PvE, it's not practical to have it at early levels. With 5 seconds cooldown, it can negates most if not all damage over time (DoT) spells such as Boiling Blood, Envenom, Sear, etc. and those spells tend to have much longer cd. Direct damage spells such as Bane, Tornado, Ignite also have a chance to be greatly reduced by shield's block chance as it is a go-to equipment for any proph hybrid classes.
The change would be either having Soothsaying be a tier 6-8 talent and/or separate the skill into 2 separate talents: 1 point to remove an extra negative effect, and another 2 points to reduce cd by 15/30s. Having the damage reduction is not practical in PvE either as tank tend to pull a lot of mobs, and early dungeons don't have DoTs to purge. This change will prevent any other classes to spend a very minor amount of talent points to get arguably one of the strongest pvp spell in the game.

 

The next change would be to nerf Righteous Indignation to just grant removing all debuffs on use and not granting immunity, or at least reduce the duration of immunity to 3 seconds. It is a really strong spell in PvP and has the same imbalance problem like Soothsaying, as all DoTs are ineffective, and it reflects damage from nukes as well as being blocked by shield. On a PvE standpoint, 3 seconds of immunity is enough for an average tank to remove aggro from the healer.

 

Third change would be to restrict some spells to certain type of weapon. Even though this game encourages hybrid builds, some spells are shown to be very ineffective in some certain builds (because of different armour type), yet some can be easily abused. My proposal would be to require Boiling Blood and Ignite to only be able to be cast with staff (or 2h weapons) and essence equipped, this thus remove the imbalance caused by the use of shield.

 

For minor suggestions, I would like to have Intense Focus (mage talent) and Wild Instincts (ranger talent) to use the total amount of Focus stat. Boiling Blood cd increased to 15s instead of 10s. Slight of Hand (assassin talent) from 1/2% to 2/4%. Watch Your Step's (assassin talent) slow from 5/10/15% to 10/15/20%. These changes won't affect PvE and promote a wider use of talents.

Sounds to me like someone keeps losing battles to a prohmage :P

I don't pvp and it is such a small part of the game, almost an addendum, that reworking so many talents for it does not feel like a good use of developers time.

Despite this some of your suggestions seem reasonable although I don't think increasing the number of talent points for soothsaying is a good idea. Plenty of pve players use it so why nerf them? Also your spell changes are strange and will definitely nerf all solo pve dungeoneers.


Also you will now get many replies from other pvpers about nerfing other class talents (10% dam bonus from haemorrhage -man that is op!!!) and a search through the forums is bound to find many more...

Gonna remind people that if something is clearly broken, it needs to be nerfed. Now that guild is released, guild battle will eventually be a thing in the future. From someone who play Dota 2 competitively, you won't want to fight against 5 prophmages as they pretty much cover every single weaknesses that other classes have.

yeah while we on about stuff lets nerf all ranger skills as you like ranger, how about the big range on tornado you even get hit when stood behind the player casting it. fck getting stuff nerf'd you don't like and leaving ranger stuff out of it

 

 

ps ranger's broken as they use shields too lets nerf them no casting envenom or haemorrhage or tornado while not having 2x onehanded weapons equipped

 

one last ps THIS IS NOT DOTA 2.

Yeah, I say nerf them as well. Also coding tornado to be similar to Dragon Breath would make it not hitting enemies behind it. Thanks for your insightful suggestions. (no sarcasm)

Well, Serenity is a level 8 Prophet's spell. I don't think moving Soothsaying talent into a deeper tier would be wise, because as what I see, the talents placement/tier are followed by it's ability/spell level. Like, when you just started playing this game as a Prophet, you hit level 8 and bought Serenity scroll, you'd be "sulky" because you cannot upgrade it as a low level player.

 

And I can say Righteous Indignation is overpowered. I can see why it's so OP because I think the thought of it could be a "Defensive Mode" for healers when the tank lost aggro or died during dungeons run. But in the fact, most healers died sooner after the tank died or lost all of the aggro because mostly healers generated higher threat than DPSers. And in PvP, they mostly unstoppable.

 

I don't see any good thing if Righteous Indignation gets nerfed nor still OP. In PvE, not many healers use Repent during dungeons run though.

 

But I agree if some spells require a Staff or 2hd weapon to cast it. Make staves more useful!

 

 

Oh also, I've been wondering about Despair. In the Combat Trainers, it is a Prophet's spell but only can be upgraded in Mage's talent tree, and none in Prophet's tree.

Well I haven't played any other 3D MMORPG. But actually this game have a lot of similar skills like Dota, and it was the reason I enjoy playing this game.

 

Edit: if anyone knows Troll Warlord and Phantom Assassin in Dota, hence why I love being an Assassin in Eldevin. "You can't hit me" :D
