OK ... to all those who are riding newbie's a&^ about his text-slapped work ,
PLEASE remember that you were once text-slappers too, i dont htink anyone jkust got inot PS and started creating beautiful works of Art, im preety damn sure that Briggzy, DA, JJ, all of them text-slapped when they were starting out ..... they might not have done it in thi forum but i find it hard to believe taht ANYBODY can just go to PS and create the things that those three are capable of (i use them cause i beleive them to be the top 3 Gfx designers in this forum) ....
oh btw, i know for a fact that my first couple dozen tries were pure text-slaps by any-one's standards ... it was only when DA, Penny, JJ and Briggzy pointed me towards GIMP talk taht i started to get out of textslapping ...
as for me .... i can tell you 100% taht the first examples i posted were excactly what the newbies is doing riht now ... random bg, render, text .... those were the order of my makings until i started playing around with GIMP, yet no-one rode my a$% on taht ..... infact they tried to help me by giving me HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS, (i know, a shocker eh, the fact that people can actually be POLITE) .... geez .....
srry forthis rant, but this is happenning to a lot of people now-a-days ..... i remember a time in the forum when unless you were a real jacka%^ people would actually help you instead of yelling at people for doing excactly what they did when they started out ......
now as for criticism, unless we have something more constructive to say tahn "Your work sucks" can you PLEASE SHUT THE HELL UP, and from now on if i see this kind of behaviour i WILL call you out and i WILL yell at you ... this forum needs a HUGE lesson on proper etiquette, if you want feel good by picking on other than get the hell out of here, no one wants you.

it's not that the people text-slap...it's that they rant about how they made the entire thing themselves... and then they don't accept criticism from people pointing them to threads and tutorials that will help them out

I agree completely, brishu, i know I've had a go at a few text slappers, but they were just people who thought they were the best, and had to be put in their place, but yeah, all this sh*t needs to stop.
And people really need to start criticizing people's work properly, although, I'm not a big fan of all the CnC threads that have been flooding the Graphics section lately, i see the 'New posts' thing and think it's something worth checking out, but it's always 'CnC plz'.
It would be a lot better if people just stuck to one thread and just updated it.
Edit: Quick note, I actually didn't text slap when i first started, someone i knew from another forum taught me how to install and use brushes, that was like 5 years ago o.O.

thristle ... ive had a go at few of those idiots myself ... but those arent the ones i mean, i mean those who start out with SOMEHTHING ... even if it is text over render over bg .... and then we get someone else yelling at them for doing what they themselves did when they started out ....and that person who just opened up shop gets pissed off and goes back to selling through the game, and the cycle repeats .....
and well OK, you had help beiggzy .... but what if you didnt haev someoen to show you how to do taht ... i think it would be safe to say that if it wasnt for your friend your first work would have been a pure text-slap ...
but even then you proved my point ... someone helped you ... now its our turn ....
and yes .. cna we PLEASE have a cnc section for the Gfx forums ... im really tired of all those CnC threads that keep on popping up ..... id rather see shops and contests here and CnC's on another section .... taht way i can go criticize people when im sure im not drunk xD ...

the fact is , that comment could have been dealt with privately w/o bringing it to other people's attention since it was merely a case of a word being lost in translation ... and even if it wasnt ... really ... if he doesnt text-slap now the fact taht he text-slapped before is irrelevant ...and if you felt that it was ... really it would have been better dealt with privately .....
im sorry if i got the wrong meaning ... but the way you said sounded like you were attacking him ....
but the fact of the matter is you chose to pick a fight over something that is CLEARLY irrelevant ...... you could have simply pointed out that it was a grammer mistake ... or if you felt that that was false advertising you could have msg'd him about it ...
what i understood was that he meant "i dont text slap" ... there are times when in some other language the pronounciation of two words with similar meanings is the same and judging from his posts i gathered taht it was a grammer mistake .... once again ... if im worn i apologize for attacking YOU .... btu ... that is my opininon ....

..... wow, this is what I was thinking.... I'm semi-new with avatars, but I do fairly decent.... anyways, the past few days, since the last halloween sotw....I just randomly have watched the posters (because I actually thought about opening up a shop).... and after some of the stuff I've seen other new people go through. There is noo way I will dare put a shop here. Actually, some of it's very dramatical towards the new people...... even if they aren't that good, some of the posts have been like an attack instead of help. =/ as if it won't pass because it's not someone else's "APPROVED" style. It's actually very funny.

and i would like to point out .... in Kenniko's words(i think ... more or less)
"There is no "one" style" ....
frankly .. if everyone were to follow one style id close up shop and look for another forum ... the great thing about art is taht it supports diversity ....
i think some people need to realise thta ...

Brishu, you know you've stepped the line on a few occasions too... nobody is perfect... that is why we should try to keep each other in check...
