Hello,
Just a small update message so you know I'm here and to mention we've been busy on a downloadable client and hardware graphics. (Guilds and AH after this I promise, but this ones v. important)!
Mostly I want to note the hardware graphics has been a lot of work to mix the old renderer in software and flick between that and the new hardware renderer in opengl, and well a lot of new things to learn and build into the current game client.
As of now its working really well (though the terrain rendering is a little dead) but even now the camera comes down all the way fine and at such it performs at 25-50 frame per second depending where you are, and more so if you bring the camera back up, and there's plenty more optimisations we still haven't done yet so it'll get even faster, and this is on a 5 year old gfx card. Along with that we should be able to make it look prettier and shadows really don't look too far off either. Oh and we have fog already which looks cool.
Mostly though it will perform better using the GPU and therefore only a single CPU processor will be touched and hopefully that won't even get drained either, and the other major thing being the camera coming down all the way which looks great too. We can also 'load' more world to go with the further vision so in 2-4 weeks (we have a few holidays coming up randomly) the Eldevin world is gonna feel bigger and faster. I'll post a picture up once I fix the terrain perhaps, oh and we're almost on Steam I believe
Thanks,
Glenn
