When I quit the game, steam still says that I'm in-game, I can't start it from my steam library again. Only solution I've found so far is to close steam via the task manager, since I am not allowed to close steam normally when an app is running.

How can I fix this?

This may happen sometimes. If you could check your graphics options (press 'o' to open the settings by default) and see what the renderer is set as? Ideally it should be set to "OpenGL - Newt" instead of "OpenGL - Java".

It is set to Newt, and it doesn't just happen sometimes, it happens every time i (try to) close the game

I have this problem too. I running the Steam client through wine (via Play on Linux - PoL wine front end). My Eldevin client sometimes freezes and I can only exit by killing the PoL process which then kills Steam and Eldevin.

I thought maybe this is a problem because I'm running it through wine. I'm going to try another renderer other than newt to see if it fixes the problem. I really want to run the client through Steam for the achieves and such.

What graphics card and operating system are you using? Trying to see if there's any correlation.

You can kill the javaw.exe process safely if there's only one that should prevent you having to restart Steam itself. I know that's not a great solution but we are actively investigating it.
