I'm finding it really hard to upgrade my farming profession especially when compared to the other professions. I have to rake, plant, water, prune, and then harvest all for just 4-5xp. It's a little annoying. It would be nice if we could get some xp maybe for pruning or something to speed up the xp gain.

Don't forget to shear sheep and make cloth from your Jute & Wool. The shearing & making cloth will give you farming xp also.

Skill XP is scaled by how long the action takes. Since Crop Farming is split into several tasks, we've given it a defined time of 30 seconds, so you should be getting a lot more than you would from Shearing etc. Is this not working?

the higher level stuff( pepper, onions etc) are giving 20+ xp, but the lower lv 1's stuff gives 4/5 xp per time done.

Ok, I'll take a look into this. You should be getting a fair bit more than that, maybe the xp is being overridden, or just plain ignoring the action time scalar.

Ok, turns out the xp time scaling calculations were very weak! It was rewarding so little that it didn't do anything, so I've just rewritten the code.
For an example of how it now works, Wool Shearing will return 4xp as before, and Crop Farming will return a generous 33xp at level 1.
Other skills with longer action times may see a slight increase in XP given too. Smelting at a Forge for example now gives 6xp at level 1.

Its not about XP, its about time spent. I ve got lvl 14 farming. And now i do not have much will\time ect. to progress in other professions because its tooo BOOOORING...
The whole system is quite strange and not much interesting. I do not even wish o progress in farming further... even the possibility of being a SUPERFARMER does not motivate, cause in some point the progress gets to a question: your mental wellness or game progress ) well, i choose some wellness, good sleep, ect.
Autofarm, autoforestry and so on would be nice. Getting lesser XP, but in your unique profession, there will be a market anyway, so players will specialize. The total amount of XP needed to gain profession level can be raised, so players will decide how to spend their OFF-game time.
Example:
I am a farmer. I spend some time playing the quest\dungeon\pvp stuff, really enjoying a game. Then i go to sleep leaving my char farming. For example i've spent a few weeks getting lvl 10-15 in farming. But now i wish to go mining the same "auto" way - so some restrictions will apply. -30% XP - 40{X or so.
Maybe there should be a set of professions to be chosen:
1st no penalty
2nd 30%-40% penalty
3rd 60%-70% penalty
For now the only thing that i dislike in the game is the need to spend much time doing really boring things.

Are there shigra somewhere that can actually be sheared? I can't seem to find any that don't give me a 'resource depleted' message.

There was one working at Northram farm yesterday. Only one I could find.
I believe there's a patch coming soon. Maybe this fix will be in it?
Meleager, ranger
Tuor, templar (Inactive)
Deimos, mage
Thangbrand, warsin (Mostly on vacation)
Bart, ??? (bene trades)

It took a while to figure out that only the shigra with black stripes can be sheared. The white ones have already been sheared.

Yeah, I found the one shearable shigra at Northam farm. At least its wool seems to regenerate relatively quickly.

As the experience has been increased, I believe this suggestion has been addressed.
