After much trial & lots of error I finally made my 1st "transparent " PNG file. Granted it was very simple (an eye ball) but, it shows that this "old dog" can learn a new trick or 2.......

 

Since I am "semi retired" and have more time on my hands than I should have...... I will be making PNG's to add to my PNG file site for everyone to use.

 

The current PNG files are from other people that I liked & saved for everyone to use. The new ones that I will be adding will have the prefix zdr and what ever # it is. I hope you won't slam me too badly on the new renders i add to it!

 

I give credit to 2 wonderful lady's who helped me to LEARN how to do this.

You're too kind, I learn all I know about Gimp from the guys here mainly Peter, Noeni and Wolf. So your thanks for me should go to them. Plus I don't lead the guild, that's Zuki's job *grins*

The Rendering for avatars don't have to be perfect considering the size of the canvas. I think this would be great for an avatar.

Thank you    it is my 1st attempt (that I actually want to show off) . I realize I didn't get some of the inner openings cut out (not quite sure on how to do that) , but since I now use 2 different programs to do graphics with I figured I could fill those in with "cloned" background........

You can do the same principle on the inner areas. After the selection with the path tool, you can take an erasure and wipe out the inner area. A lot easier than clone stamping in stuff.

And all this time I was rendering out my images with the eraser tool and zooming in to 400% lol.....Probably should have went looking for faster ways haha.

Having fun doing this & the pressure to make an awesome Avi for CQ................... I made and AVI & a SIG. I really hope you like them........

Zeder, I know of another way to extract an image, not as clear, but alot faster, you need a program called "Paint.net" and once you have it downloaded all you want to do is go to "Layer>Duplicate Layer>Layer>Properties>and Uncheck Visible>On the left hand side you will see a bunch of tools, click the "Magic Wand" one and just Click in the Background and hit delete and your done!"
